Long-term levodopa administration can lead to the development of levodopa-induced dyskinesia.Gamma oscillations are a widely recognized hallmark of abnormal neural electrical activity in levodopa-induced dyskinesia.Currently, studies have reported increased oscillation power in cases of levodopa-induced dyskinesia. However, little is known about how the other electrophysiological parameters of gamma oscillations are altered in levodopa-induced dyskinesia.Furthermore, the role of the dopamine D3 receptor, which is implicated in levodopa-induced dyskinesia,in movement disorder-related changes in neural oscillations is unclear. We found that the cortico-striatal functional connectivity of beta oscillations was enhanced in a model of Parkinson’s disease.Furthermore, levodopa application enhanced cortical gamma oscillations in cortico-striatal projections and cortical gamma aperiodic components,as well as bidirectional primary motor cortex(M1)↔dorsolateral striatum gamma flow.Administration of PD128907(a selective dopamine D3 receptor agonist)induced dyskinesia and excessive gamma oscillations with a bidirectional M1↔dorsolateral striatum flow. However, administration of PG01037(a selective dopamine D3 receptor antagonist)attenuated dyskinesia, suppressed gamma oscillations and cortical gamma aperiodic components, and decreased gamma causality in the M1→dorsolateral striatum direction. These findings suggest that the dopamine D3 receptor plays a role in dyskinesia-related oscillatory activity, and that it has potential as a therapeutic target for levodopa-induced dyskinesia. 展开更多

The importance of the Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation(AMO)and Interdecadal Pacific Oscillation(IPO)in influencing zonally asymmetric changes in Antarctic surface air temperature(SAT)has been established. However, previous studies have primarily concentrated on examining the combined impact of the contrasting phases of the AMO and IPO,which have been dominant since the advent of satellite observations in 1979.This study utilizes long-term reanalysis data to investigate the impact of four combinations of+AMO+IPO,–AMO–IPO,+AMO–IPO,and–AMO+IPO on Antarctic SAT over the past 115 years. The+AMO phase is characterized by a spatial mean temperature amplitude of up to 0.5℃over the North Atlantic Ocean, accompanied by positive sea surface temperature(SST)anomalies in the tropical eastern Pacific and negative SST anomalies in the extratropical-mid-latitude western Pacific, which are indicative of the+IPO phase. The Antarctic SAT exhibits contrasting spatial patterns during the+AMO+IPO and+AMO–IPO periods. However, during the–AMO+IPO period, apart from the Antarctic Peninsula and the vicinity of the Weddell Sea,the entire Antarctic region experiences a warming trend. The most pronounced signal in the SAT anomalies is observed during the austral autumn, whereas the combination of–AMO and–IPO exhibits the smallest magnitude across all the combinations. The wavetrain excited by the SST anomalies associated with the AMO and IPO induces upper-level and surface atmospheric circulation anomalies, which alter the SAT anomalies.Furthermore, downward longwave radiation anomalies related to anomalous cloud cover play a crucial role.In the future,if the phases of AMO and IPO were to reverse(AMO transitioning to a negative phase and IPO transitioning to a positive phase),Antarctica could potentially face more pronounced warming and accelerated melting compared to the current observations. 展开更多

The REAgSb_(2)(RE = rare earth and Y) family has drawn considerable research interest because the two-dimensional Sb net in their crystal structures hosts topological fermions and hence rich topological properties. We report herein the magnetization and magnetotransport measurements of SmAgSb_(2) single crystal, which unveil very large magnetoresistance and high carrier mobility up to 6.2 × 10^(3)% and 5.58 × 10^(3)cm^(2)·V^(-1)·s^(-1), respectively. The analysis of both Shubnikov–de Haas and de Haas–van Alphen quantum oscillations indicates nontrivial Berry phases in the paramagnetic state while trivial Berry curvature in the antiferromagnetic state, indicating a topological phase transition induced by the antiferromagnetic order. It is also supported by the first-principles calculations. The results not only provide a new interesting topological material but also offer valuable insights into the correlation between magnetism and nontrivial topological states. 展开更多

In this paper,we consider a class of third-order nonlinear delay dynamic equations.First,we establish a Kiguradze-type lemma and some useful estimates.Second,we give a sufficient and necessary condition for the existence of eventually positive solutions having upper bounds and tending to zero.Third,we obtain new oscillation criteria by employing the Potzsche chain rule. Then, using the generalized Riccati transformation technique and averaging method,we establish the Philos-type oscillation criteria.Surprisingly, the integral value of the Philos-type oscillation criteria, which guarantees that all unbounded solutions oscillate,is greater than θ_(4)(t_(1),T).The results of Theorem 3.5 and Remark 3.6 are novel. Finally,we offer four examples to illustrate our results. 展开更多

Understanding the relationship between rainfall anomalies and large-scale systems is critical for driving adaptation and mitigation strategies in socioeconomic sectors. This study therefore aims primarily to investigate the correlation between rainfall anomalies in Rwanda during the months of September to December (SOND) with the occurrences of Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD) and El Nino Southern Oscillation (ENSO) events. The study is useful for early warning and forecasting of negative effects associated with extreme rainfall anomalies across the country, using Climate Hazards Group InfraRed Precipitation with Station (CHIRPS), the National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP) National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) reanalysis sea surface temperature and ERA5 reanalysis datasets, during the period of 1983-2021. Both empirical orthogonal function (EOF), correlation analysis and composite analysis were used to delineate variability, relationship and the related atmospheric circulation between Rwanda seasonal rainfall September to December (SOND) with Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD) and El-Nino Southern Oscillation (ENSO). The results for Empirical Orthogonal Function (EOF) for the reconstructed rainfall data set showed three modes. EOF-1, EOF-2 and EOF-3 with their total variance of 63.6%, 16.5% and 4.8%, Indian ocean dipole (IOD) events resulted to a strong positive correlation of rainfall anomalies and Dipole model index (DMI) (r = 0.42, p value = 0.001, DF = 37) significant at 95% confidence level. The composite analysis for the reanalysis dataset was carried out to show the circulation patterns during four different events correlated with September to December seasonal rainfall in Rwanda using T-test at 95% confidence level. Wind anomaly revealed that there was a convergence of south westerly winds and easterly wind over the study area during positive Indian Ocean Diploe (PIOD) and PIOD with El Nino concurrence event years. The finding of this study will contribute to the enhancement of SOND seasonal rainfall forecasting and the reduction of vulnerability during IOD (ENSO) event years. 展开更多

The thermal decoherence of harmonic oscillators is investigated here. The quantum system presented here is a one-dimensional oscillator with angular frequency, which is surrounded by a thermal bath of environmental oscillators. There are various environmental oscillators with different angular frequency(below an ultraviolet cutoff). At the beginning, the quantum system is a pure state and the environmental oscillators are in thermodynamic equilibrium with temperature. After a period, the system-environment interactions inspire significant decoherence of the quantum state.Such decoherence is displayed by explicit calculations of the purity and von Neumann entropy of the quantum system. It is worth noting that the decoherence could be significant even in the weak coupling and low temperature case due to the large amount of environmental degrees of freedom.Since the decoherence process is inspired between the quantum system and an ordinary thermal environment here, the thermal decoherence result is quite general. 展开更多

Stomatal conductance was found to change from steady-state to a slate of oscillations during daytime when vapour pressure deficit (VPD) increased to a value of 1 kPa in Glycyrrhiza inflata Batalin grown under the conditions of arid desert in north-west China. The injected metabolic inhibitors (NaN3 or carbonyl cyanide-m-chlorophenyl-hydrazone (CCCP)) slightly reduced the stomatal conductance but did not significantly decrease the intensity of stomatal oscillations (amplitude/average). The oscillation intensity was found to he significantly correlated with VPD and root resistance, but not with the respiration rate. There might exist a minimum threshold of VPD (0.8 kPa) and root resistance (1/4 relative value) that induced stomatal oscillations. These results suggested that stomatal oscillations induced by atmospheric drought stress and root resistance were mainly a type of hydropassive movement. 展开更多

In this paper, the evolution of intraseasonal oscillation over the South China Sea and tropical western Pacific area and its effect to the summer rainfall in the southern China are studied based on the ECMWF data and TBB data) analyses. A very low-frequency waves exist in the tropics and play an important role in dominating intraseasonal oscillation and lead to special seasonal variation of intraseasonal oscillation over the South China Sea/tropical western Pacific area. The intraseasonal oscillation (convection) over the South China Sea and tropical western Pacific area is closely related to the summer rainfall (convection) in the southern China. Their relationship seems to be a seesaw feature, and this relationship resulting from the different pattern of convection in those two regions is caused by the differnt type of local meridional circulation. 展开更多

The El Nifio-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) is an interannual phenomenon involved in the tropical Pacific Oceanatmosphere interactions. In this paper, an asymptotic method of solving the nonlinear equation for the ENSO model is used. And based on a class of oscillator of ENSO model, the approximate solution of a corresponding problem is studied by employing the perturbation method. Firstly, an ENSO model of nonlinear time delay equation of equatorial Pacific is introduced, Secondly, by using the perturbed method, the zeroth and first order asymptotic perturbed solutions are constructed. Finally, from the comparison of the values for a figure, it is seen that the first asymptotic perturbed solution using the perturbation method has a good accuracy. And it is proved from the results that the perturbation method can be used as an analytic operation for the sea surface temperature anomaly in the equatorial Pacific of the atmosphere-ocean oscillation for the ENSO model. 展开更多

In this paper, interactions between the 30-60 day oscillation, the Walker circulation and the convective activitiesin the tropical western Pacific during the Northern Hemisphere summer are analyzed by using the observed data ofwind fields and high-cloud amounts for the period from 1980 to 1989.The analyzed results show that the 30-60 day oscillation (hereafter called LFO) may be largely affected by theconvective activities in the tropical western Pacific. The LFO in the tropical western Pacific during the strongconvective activities around the Philippines stronger than those during the weak convective activities around thePhilippines. Moreover. in the case of strong convective activities around the Philippines, the LFO in the tropical western Pacific and tropical eastern Indian Ocean generally propagates westward, and it is intensified by the LFO with awestward propagating center of maximum oscillation trom the east to 140°E. However, in the case of weakconvective activities around the Philippines, the LFO gradually becomes stronger with a eastward propagating centerof maximum oscillation from the eastern Indian Ocean to the tropical western Pacific.Corresponding to the 30-60 day oscillation, the Walker circulation is also in oscillation over the tropical Pacificand its circulation cell seems to shift gradually westward from the tropical western Pacific to the tropical eastern Indian Ocean with strong convective activities around the Philippines. This may maintain the intensitication ofconvective activities there. However, during the weak convective activities around the Philippines, the Walker circulation gradually moves eastward and an ascending flow may appear in the equatorial central Pacific. This may causeconvective activities to be intensified over the equatorial central Pacific. The analyzed results also show that the LFO in the tropical western Pacific and East Asia may be associated withthe interannual oscillation of the SST anomaly in the tropical western Pacific. 展开更多

Semi-floating ring bearing(SFRB) is developed to control the vibration of turbocharger rotor. The outer clearance of SFRB affects the magnitude and frequency of nonlinear whirl motion, which is significant for the design of turbocharger. In order to explore the effects of outer clearance, a transient finite element analysis program for rotor and oil film bearing is built and validated by a published experimental case. The nonlinear dynamic behaviors ofrotor-SFRB system are simulated. According to the simulation results, two representative subsynchronous oscillations excited by the two hearings respectively are discovered. As the outer clearance of SFRB increases from 24 ~tm to 60 pro, the low-frequency subsynchronous oscillation experiences three steps, including a strong start, a gradual recession and a combination with the other one. At the same time, the high-frequency subsynchronous oscillation starts to appear gradually, then strengthens, and finally combines. If gravity and unbalance are neglected, the combination will start starts from high rotor speed and extents to low rotor speed, just like a "zipper". It is found from the quantitative analysis that when the outer clearance increases, the vibration amplitude experiences large value firstly, then reduction, and suddenly increasing after combination. A useful design principle of SFRB outer clearance for minimum vibration amplitude is proposed: the outer clearance value should be chosen to keep the frequency of two subsynchronous oscillations clearly separated and their amplitudes close. 展开更多

HALOE data from 1992 to 2003 are used to analyze the interannual variation of the HCl volume mixing ratio and its quasi-biennial oscillation (QBO) in the stratosphere, and the results are compared with the ozone QBO. Then, the NCAR two-dimensional interactive chemical, dynamical and radiative model is used to study the effects of the wind QBO on the distribution and variation of HCl in the stratosphere. The results show that the QBO signals in the HCl mixing ratio are mainly at altitudes from 50 hPa to 5 hPa; the larger amplitudes are located between 30 hPa and 10 hPa; a higher HCl mixing ratio usually corresponds to the westerly phase of the wind QBO and a lower HCl mixing ratio usually corresponds to the easterly phase of the wind QBO in a level near 20 hPa and below. In the layer near 10 hPa-5 hPa, the phase of the HCl QBO reverses earlier than the phase of the wind QBO; the QBO signals for HCl in the extratropics are also clear, but with reversed phase compared with those over the Tropics. The HCl QBO signals at 30°N are clearer than those at 30°S; the QBOs for HCl and ozone have a similar phase at the 50 hPa-20 hPa level while they are out of phase near 10 hPa; the simulated structures of the HCl QBO agree well with observations. The mechanism for the formation of the HCl QBO and the reason for differences in the vertical structure of the HCl and ozone QBO are attributed to the transport of HCl and ozone by the wind QBO-induced meridional circulation. 展开更多

The robotic fish is composed of a body and two lateral fins. A three-factor kinematic model is established and used in the design of a mechanism. By controlling the three kinematic parameters, the robotic fish can accelerate and maneuver. Forward velocity is dependent on the largest amplitude and the number of waves in the fins, while the relative contribution of fin beat frequency to the forward velocity of the robotic fish is different from the usual result. On the other hand, experimental results on maneuvering show that phase difference has a stronger effect on swerving than the largest amplitude to some extent. In addition, as propulsion waves pass from the trailing edge to the leading edge, the robotic fish attains a backward velocity of 0. 15 m·s^(-1). 展开更多

An oblique detonation wave for a Mach 7 inlet flow over a long enough wedge of 30 turning angle is simulated numerically using Euler equation and one-step rection model. The fifth-order WENO scheme is adopted to capture the shock wave. The numerical results show that with the compression of the wedge wall the detonation wave front structure is divided into three sections:the ZND model-like strcuture,single-sided triple point structure and dual-headed triple point strucuture. The first structure is the smooth straight, and the second has the characteristic of the triple points propagating dowanstream only with the same velocity, while the dual-headed triple point structure is very complicated. The detonation waves facing upstream and downstream propagate with different velocities,in which the periodic collisions of the triple points cause the oscillation of the detonation wave front. This oscillation process has temporal and spatial periodicity. In addition, the triple point trace are recorded to obtain different cell structures in three sections. 展开更多

This paper analyzed the time evolution of the global 1000 hPa height anomalies related to the sea surface temperature (SST) in the eastern equatorial Pacific by using ECMWF data in the period 1979-1988, in which two Pacific warm events, 1982/83 and 1986/787, are included. It is found that there are distinct evidences of eastward propagation of alternate positive / negative height anomalies not only in the tropical South Pacific but also in the tropical North Pacific. The former is associated with the Southern Oscillation (SO) and the latter is associated with the so-called Northern Oscillation (NO).It is noteworthy that the alternate positive / negative anomaly centers associated with SO and NO can be traced back to the middle and higher latitudes of the South Indian Ocean and the East Asian continent respectively, which may be significant for the understanding of the causes and mechanism of SO and NO and for the monitoring of ENSO.Furthermore, these evolution processes have a strong symmetry about the Northern and the Southern Hemisphere. The whole SO/ NO cycle takes about 3.5 years from extreme positive to negative index pattern and again from extreme negative to positive index pattern. It is suggested that the anomalous cold air activities over East Asia and Australia and the polar vortex activities over the northern and the southern Pacific seem to have dominant role on the SO / NO cycle. 展开更多

Unlike perturbation methods, HAM is not dependent on any small physical parameters at all, and thus valid for both weakly and strongly nonlinear problems. In addition, HAM is different from all other analytic techniques in providing a simple way to adjust and control convergence region of the series solution by means of an auxiliary parameter h. Achieving a uniform structure with few defects in heavy steel ingot is of high commercial importance. In this present work, in order to verify the potential of pulsed magneto-oscillation(PMO) applied in the production of heavy ingot, an induction coil was located at the hot top of the steel ingot to develop a novel technique, named hot top pulsed magneto oscillation(HPMO). The influences of HPMO on the solidification structure, macro segregation and compactness of a cylindrical medium carbon steel ingot with the weight of 160 kg were systematically investigated by optical microscope(OM) and laser induced breakdown spectroscopy original position metal analyzer(LIBSOPA-100). The results show that HPMO not only causes significant grain refinement and promotes the occurrence of columnar to equiaxed transition(CET) but also can homogenize the carbon distribution and enhance the compactness of the steel ingot. Therefore, HPMO technique has the potential to be applied in the production of heavy steel ingots on an industrial scale. 展开更多
