The Analysis of Pingyao Ancient Town Street Spaces and View Spots Reachability by Space Syntax

The Pingyao ancient town is one of the four largest ancient cities in China. This study analyzes street spaces characteristic and view spots reachability of the Pingyao ancient town using space syntax. Then, it is concluded that the integration and reachability of street spaces are relatively higher in the northern ancient town;the accessibility among street spaces is relatively higher in the northeastern ancient town;and most of the ancient town street spaces are very open. Furthermore, the reachability of 14 view spots and their 4 corresponding street spaces is relatively higher in the 20 view spots and their 9 corresponding street spaces. Finally, some suggestions are presented to the tourism development of Pingyao ancient town based on the above conclusions.

Design Strategy of Street Space Micro Renewal: A Case Study of Baihuazhou District of Nanchang City

Against the backdrop of incremental planning moving towards stock planning, strengtheningurban public space design to promote high-quality urban development has become a focus of attentionfor domestic scholars. Street is a linear element of urban public space, and it is of great significance forimproving the quality of urban public space by studying the micro renewal design strategy of street space.Based on the interpretation of two urban renewal cases, Wangjing Street in Beijing and Mengzhuiwan inChengdu, taking Baihuazhou area in Nanchang City as an example, this paper analyzes the main problemsin the current situation of street space in Baihuazhou area from three aspects: space use, traffic organization,and waterfront space creation, and explores the micro renewal design strategy of the street space.

Study of Spatial Characteristics of Streets and Alleys in Traditional Villages:Taking Pingtan Comprehensive Experimental Area as an Example

Taking the traditional residential street space in Pingtan Comprehensive Experimental Area as an example,the factors influencing the formation and development of lane space and the distribution characteristics of lanes were analyzed in this paper.Subsequently,an analysis was conducted on the scale and proportion of street and lane space enclosed in the settlement,the experiential aspects of street and lane space,as well as the node space.Lastly,a systematic summary of the street space characteristics in the settlements of Pingtan Island and Dongxiang Island is presented.

Thermal Comfort Measurement and Landscape Reconstruction Strategy of Street Space Based on Decomposition Grid Method:A Case Study of Yangmeizhu Street

As an important public space in the city,street space is the second residence of people.Taking Yangmeizhu Street as the research object,this study established a street microclimate model in Beijing through microclimate measurement and simulation,and then calculated thermal comfort index of the street and evaluated thermal comfort of the street space and distribution model.The evaluation method used grid method to decompose and study and made several 10m×10m grids for inner space of the street,so as to compare deeply difference of microclimate environment in the street and analyze quantitatively relevance between street space elements(street pavement,street greening,building shadow coverage)and thermal comfort(physiological equivalent temperature PET)in the data.Finally,adaptive strategy of microclimate on street level was put forward to improve the environmental quality of public space in the old city by means of landscape design,aiming at creating a resilient and humanized street space and improving adaptability of microclimate and thermal comfort for living.

Strategies for Improving Street Vitality Guided by Building a Sense of Community Identity

In the continuous growth process of urbanization level in China,the community is gradually divided,and the urban vitality is gradually lost.Under the community management mode of grass-roots autonomy,cultivation of community identity is conducive to creating an unique community culture,making the whole community more united and cohesive,moulding a relaxed and pleasant community atmosphere,thereby enhancing the vitality of the street.Community identity also provides a new perspective for the study of the relationship between people and street vitality.In this paper,the influence of community identity on the spatial vitality of urban street is discussed,and the corresponding improvement measures are put forward.

Preliminary Study on Program Setting Path of Park City Street Scene Construction

In the context of park city construction,urban street space system and scene construction are the most important forms of presentation of value transformation framework.Most of the outdoor activities of urban residents are completed in the urban street space which constitutes various scenes.Scene construction not only includes the material space as the carrier,but also includes the behaviors and activities of the participants and the time and path of “program setting”,as well as the opening and closing of events.Scene construction is an effective approach explored during the construction of the park city demonstration area,which is currently practicing the new development concept.However,there have been no reports on the specific theories,methods,processes,and systems of scene construction,especially for the lack of pattern summary and method induction for program setting in scene construction.Therefore,from the perspective of building a park city demonstration area that implements the new development concept,the paper discusses the concept,connotation,process and modularity of the program setting of street space scene construction,in order to provide certain theoretical basis for the scene construction and “value transformation” of park city street space system.

The Best Walking Recommendation Path by Considering the Quality of Street Space

Walking is a healthy and green way of travel,and seeking the best recommended route is the first choice for residents to travel.In this paper,according to actual demand of pedestrians,convenience,safety,comfort and appreciation are taken as different walking needs,to construct the evaluation system of urban street space quality.Combining the shortest path algorithm,the modified walking time cost of road section and intersection delay are used as impedance,obtaining the best walking recommendation paths of convenience,safety,comfort and appreciation between the beginning and the end.Moreover,the form of questionnaire survey is used for experimental verification of final recommended path.This paper could provide residents with walking path planning scheme under different needs.When guaranteeing travel efficiency,it could effectively improve walking quality of residents,with important significance for improving the attraction of green travel mode,providing diverse selectivity,and improving residents’ health.

Urban Street Design Based on Spatial Experience

As the living place of urban citizens,urban street space covers the activities of people of all ages and is an important space for citizens to carry out public activities and interpersonal communication.The slogan of“people-orientation”is shouted in the construction process of every city street,but the street space design based on people’s personal experience and people’s psychological feeling is the real peopleoriented design.The design techniques of street space are explored from the perspective of people’s space experience.Starting from the elements of urban street space,according to the attributes of street space and people’s experience path in the space,the paper fi nds out the factors affecting the spatial experience of urban streets,and further explores the strategy of building urban street space.From the perspective of space experience,the design of urban street space is explored,in order to provide reference for the future design of urban streets that meet people’s experience.

A Study of the Streets and Alleys of Traditional Settlements in Taihang Mountains–Taking Wangjinzhuang,Shexian County as an Example

Wangjinzhuang in Shexian County,which has a long history,is a representative of the traditional settlements in Taihang Mountains.Through the in-depth study of the morphological characteristics of Wangjinzhuang settlement,this paper fully excavates its value as a traditional settlement.The overall pattern of the settlement form is complete,showing a linear layout form;the road system is graded,and the structure is clear;the spatial form shows a combination of points,lines,and planes;public buildings are distributed in an orderly manner,with clear functions,and they have a high degree of research value.

Research on the Walkability Potential of Wangjing East Metro Station from the Perspective of Young Female

This paper mainly evaluates the road space adaptability of the streets around Wangjing East Metro Station(hereinafter referred to as“Wangjing East Station”),and studies the impact of the road space adaptability of Wangjing East Street on the walking activities of young female residents.Through literature survey,POI data analysis and street view photo scoring,the street characteristics that young female residents are suitable for walking and like walking are analyzed.The paper includes 3 parts:determination of functional types of streets around Wangjing East Station;the characteristics of young women’s group walkability activities and the establishment of evaluation system;spatial adaptability assessment of the existing roads around Wangjing East Station.

Relationship between land use and user’s behavior along the street:A case study of Da Nang City,Viet Nam

Human activities on street spaces are affected by both physical and non-physical settings on streets.These two aspects are primarily impacted by land use which results in the uneven distribution of different activities on streets.This research investigates land use patterns and their characteristics in association to user’s behaviors.By using mixed qualitative and quantitative research methods,e.g.,place-centered behavioral map,observation,visual encounter surveys,machine learning,the relationship between user’s behavior and land use characteristics along the street is unveiled.All user behaviors along both types of streets were classified into six main categories,with 26 subcategories.The observation results show that the residential use of land along the street was transformed into the commercial use for various types of shophouses based on the resident’s ideas.There is a great correlation between land use and user’s activities.These findings give support to authorities to manage urban streets and develop a sustainable policy for improving street spaces.Further,this research contributes useful information to urban designers and planners in creating a successful street space that is appropriate for the Vietnam Community.

Planning of Urban Cycling Routes Aiming at Improving Cycling Quality

Urban cycling environment is an important part of urban slow-moving system,and reasonable route planning is beneficial to the health of residents.In order to improve residents’ cycling quality and enrich travel experience,the evaluation system of cycling quality in the main urban area of Handan City was established from the four aspects of convenience,safety,comfort and experience.According to different travel needs,the cycling evaluation index of road sections was calculated and modified to obtain the cycling time of road sections.The shortest route algorithm was used to generate the best riding route for convenience,the best riding route for safety,the best riding route for comfort,and the best riding route for experience.Cycling evaluation indicators were combined with travel route planning to provide residents with a variety of humanized route options,and effectively improve the cycling quality and travel health of residents,which is of great significance to promoting green travel and improving residents’ health.
