However, over the past several decades, a number of durability related problems have emerged and stimulated research into the factors relating to concrete durability globally. The challenge now facing practicing engineers is how to design and build structures that not only satisfy the specified structural requirements, but also achieve the performance levels required from a durability standpoint. Research works on concrete structural durability have been widely reported in the literature over the last several decades. In this paper, reviews of four stages of research work on durability, i e, environments, materials, components, and structures, were presented. Afterwards, the key scientific issues in this field were also pointed out.展开更多

It includes seismic isolation, passive energy dissipation, active and semi-active control, smart materials and smart structural systems. It can be seen that passive control methods, such as seismic isolation and energy dissipation methods, have developed into the mature stage in China. At the same time, great progress has been made in active and semi-active control, and smart actuators or smart dampers and smart structural systems. Finally, some future research initiatives for structural control in civil engineering are suggested. Keywords state-of-the-art review - structural control - seismic isolation - passive energy dissipation - active and semi-active control - smart material and smart structure Supported by : National Natural Science Foundation of China (Grant No. 50025821)展开更多

文摘Architectural works,in the material form of buildings, are often perceived as cultural symbols and as works of art. However, today's architects have excessively seeked the artistic expression of building skins, and ignored the architectural aesthetics represented by the structural system as a building skeleton and the elaboration of aesthetics of the architecture itself.Authors of this paper showed the compatibility of architectural presentation and structural design by interpreting the interaction between them, and proposed that a building is a building structure, and the building structure is the building.
