This paper explores the role of guiding students to participate in skills competitions on the development of young teachers in vocational colleges.We investigate the impact of skills competitions on the consolidation of professional knowledge,development of innovation capabilities,improvement of hands-on abilities,and enhancement of communication skills with students.The results of this research demonstrate that skills competitions have a positive influence on the professional growth of young teachers.The consolidation of professional knowledge,development of innovation capabilities,improvement of hands-on abilities,and enhancement of communication skills collectively contribute to the effectiveness of young teachers in vocational colleges.It is recommended that vocational colleges prioritize and support the participation of young teachers in skills competitions to foster their professional development.

Empowering Vocational Students to Excel in Skills Competitions:Challenges and Recommendations

This paper analyzes the key challenges faced by vocational college students when participating in national skills competitions.It identifies problems such as limited resources,insufficient training,lack of mentorship,academic workload constraints,and inadequate equipment.Targeted solutions are proposed,including improving resource access,providing structured skill training,implementing expert mentorship programs,offering flexible schedules,and upgrading experimental equipment.Implementing these recommendations through a collaborative effort among stakeholders can significantly empower vocational students to excel in skills competitions by enabling access to resources,building practical skills,obtaining guidance,managing time effectively,and gaining hands-on experience.

A Review and Reflection on the Cultivation of Normal Students’ Vocational Skills in Local Normal Universities under the Background of Teacher Training Professional Certification

Professional certification for students of educational majors provides a crucial guideline for the cultivation of teachers.The cornerstone of development for local normal universities is to uphold the characteristics of teacher education and highlight the history and tradition of teacher education,because the level of teacher vocational skills of students in normal universities has a direct impact on faculty strength of basic education.Consequently,based on an analysis of necessity and feasibility of teacher vocational skill training for students in normal universities amid the professional certification for students of educational majors in a new era,four approaches are proposed in this article as follows:(1)upholding the characteristics of cultivation of students of educational majors while optimizing curriculum planning;(2)innovating training methods for better guiding capacity;(3)coordinating training management for guaranteed education quality;(4)improving performance evaluation mechanism for a training path towards an assessment system.

Enhancing the Problem-Solving Skills of Vocational Students Through Skills Competition

Unlike general education,vocational education aims to nurture skilled people for various sectors in the society.The development of students’problem analysis and problem-solving skills is crucial.As an important part of the vocational education system,skills competitions are considered a“booster”for improving the quality of teaching in vocational institutions.This paper examines the problem-solving skills of students in preparation for skills competition.First of all,we introduce China’s education policies and conduct a review of early scholars’views,followed by a discussion on the specific problems faced in the design of the entry for skills competition and an exploration of the process of enhancing students’problem-solving skills around these problems;we then propose several suggestions for vocational institutions to enhance their participation in skills competitions.Skills competitions provide a“special stage”for students in vocational institutions to show their abilities.The question of how this“stage”can be utilized to better improve students’abilities is worth exploring in different fields.

The Role of Skills Competitions in Improving the Practical Ability of Vocational College Students

Vocational education and general education are two different types of education that are equally important.The orientation of talent training in vocational education is to nurture skilled talents to serve the society.The practical ability of students is both the focus of teaching in vocational colleges and the requirement of enterprise posts.The various types of skills competitions provide a“stage”for students to showcase their abilities.First,this paper explores students’problem-solving ability while preparing for these competitions,expounding the importance of vocational education and skills competitions.Second,this paper summarizes the views of different scholars.Third,based on a specific case,this paper describes the improvement in students’ability while preparing for these competitions.Fourth,this paper analyzes the results of the questionnaire survey conducted to investigate the improvement in students’ability.Lastly,this paper puts forward several suggestions that appeal for vocational colleges to pay more attention to skills competitions.

Challenges Experienced by Nurse Educators in Promoting Acquisition of Clinical Reasoning Skills by the Undergraduate Nursing Students: A Qualitative Exploratory Study

Background: Clinical reasoning is an essential skill for nursing students since it is required to solve difficulties that arise in complex clinical settings. However, teaching and learning clinical reasoning skills is difficult because of its complexity. This study, therefore aimed at exploring the challenges experienced by nurse educators in promoting acquisition of clinical reasoning skills by undergraduate nursing students. Methods: A qualitative exploratory research design was used in this study. The participants were purposively sampled and recruited into the study. Data were collected using semi-structured interview guides. Thematic analysis method was used to analyze the collected data The principles of beneficence, respect of human dignity and justice were observed. Results: The findings have shown that clinical learning environment, lacked material and human resources. The students had no interest to learn the skill. There was also knowledge gap between nurse educators and clinical nurses. Lack of role model was also an issue and limited time exposure. Conclusion: The study revealed that nurse educators encounter various challenges in promoting the acquisition of clinical reasoning skills among undergraduate nursing students. Training institutions and hospitals should periodically revise the curriculum and provide sufficient resources to facilitate effective teaching and learning of clinical reasoning. Nurse educators must also update their knowledge and skills through continuous professional development if they are to transfer the skill effectively.

Assessing the Levels of Clinical Reasoning Skills Using Self-Assessment of Clinical Reflection and Reasoning in Undergraduate Nursing Students: A Descriptive Comparative Study

Background: Clinical reasoning is a critical cognitive skill that enables undergraduate nursing students to make clinically sound decisions. A lapse in clinical reasoning can result in unintended harm to patients. The aim of the study was to assess and compare the levels of clinical reasoning skills between third year and fourth year undergraduate nursing students. Methods: The study utilized a descriptive comparative research design, based on the positivism paradigm. 410 undergraduate nursing students were systematically sampled and recruited into the study. The researchers used the Self-Assessment of Clinical Reflection and Reasoning questionnaire to collect data on clinical reasoning skills from third- and fourth-year nursing students while adhering to ethical principles of human dignity. Descriptive statistics were done to analyse the level of clinical reasoning and an independent sample t-test was performed to compare the clinical reasoning skills of the student. A p value of 0.05 was accepted. Results: The results of the study revealed that the mean clinical reasoning scores of the undergraduate nursing students were knowledge/theory application (M = 3.84;SD = 1.04);decision-making based on experience and evidence (M = 4.09;SD = 1.01);dealing with uncertainty (M = 3.93;SD = 0.87);reflection and reasoning (M = 3.77;SD = 3.88). The mean difference in clinical reasoning skills between third- and fourth-year undergraduate nursing students was not significantly different from an independent sample t-test scores (t = −1.08;p = 0.28);(t = −0.29;p = 0.73);(t = 1.19;p = 0.24);(t = −0.57;p = 0.57). Since the p-value is >0.05, the null hypothesis (H0) “there is no significantno significant difference in clinical reasoning between third year and fourth year undergraduate nursing students”, was accepted. Conclusion: This study has shown that the level of clinical reasoning skills of the undergraduate nursing students was moderate to low. This meant that the teaching methods have not been effective to improve the students clinical reasoning skills. Therefore, the training institutions should revise their curriculum by incorporating new teaching methods like simulation to enhance students’ clinical reasoning skills. In conclusion, evaluating clinical reasoning skills is crucial for addressing healthcare issues, validating teaching methods, and fostering continuous improvement in nursing education.

The Impact of Student Club Development on the Scientific Literacy of Vocational College Students

This paper explores the impact of student club development on the scientific literacy of vocational college students.As society increasingly values innovation and scientific literacy,vocational colleges bear a significant responsibility in cultivating students’overall quality.Taking the Modeling and Simulation student club as a case study,the research team conducted a 12-week study.The results indicate that various club activities aimed at enhancing scientific literacy have positively influenced the development of students’scientific competencies.Students’practical skills and innovative thinking have been effectively improved.Our research demonstrates the positive role of student clubs in enhancing the scientific literacy of vocational college students,providing valuable experience and references for the development of similar clubs in the future.

Vocational Identity and Agency of Chinese College Students: Effects of Filial Piety and Implications in Career Education

Balancing family obligations and personal aspirations is crucial for college students in making life decisions.This critical review examined empirical studies on the effects of filial piety on college students’vocational identity and agency.According to identity capital theory,college students need a sense of agency to construct identity consciously and adapt to adulthood.Filial piety may profoundly influence this process as the core value and internalized social structure for the role of being an adult child in a Chinese family.However,no studies have been conducted from the identity capital perspective.This review found that filial piety had direct effects on college students'vocational identity and also indirect effects by shaping specific agency competencies.The impact of filial piety on the agency was more likely to occur through providing normative guidance about adult roles,influencing how college students view family as a supportive resource,and perpetuating parenting experiences.Based on these findings,this article suggested further examining the mediating role of agency between filial piety and identity development,as well as the effects of filial piety on the psychological foundation of agency development.This review suggested enhancing the agency of college students and encouraging reflections on filial piety in career education.

Exploration of the Cultivation Path of Vocational Values for Post-2000 Vocational College Students in the Context of the New Era

Career values are the specific manifestations of life goals and attitudes in career choices.In the context of the new era,post-2000 vocational college students exhibit characteristics such as diversified and personalized career values,economic value preferences in career choices,and a disconnect between career aspirations and reality.Based on this,this article proposes that the cultivation of vocational values for post-2000 vocational college students includes five aspects:education on socialist core values,education on career development and professional qualities,cultivation of professional spirit,education on the connotation and extension of vocational values,and education on network culture and vocational values.The cultivation path should focus on combining theoretical education with practical experience,creating campus culture and professional atmosphere,personalizing career guidance and career planning,cultivating social responsibility and craftsmanship spirit,etc.,in order to meet the demand of society for high-quality technical and skilled talents and provide strong talent support for social and economic development.

Application of Academic Salons in Cultivating the Scientific Research Skills of First-Year Nursing Master’s Students

Objective:To explore the application effect of academic salons on developing the scientific research skills of first-year nursing master’s students.Methods:According to Wallas’four-stage model of the creative process,from November 2022 to February 2023,66 first-year nursing master’s students from the School of Nursing at Zhejiang Chinese Medical University were selected using a convenient sampling method to participate in a multidisciplinary academic salon consisting of a total of 8 sessions held once every two weeks.Before the first and after the last academic salon,postgraduate research skills evaluation questionnaires and perception of research skills acquisition questionnaires were used to assess first-year nursing master’s students.A semi-structured interview was conducted with nine students after the final academic salon.Results:The total scores for scientific research skills and sense of achievement among first-year nursing master’s students after the academic salon were higher than those before the salon,and the difference was statistically significant.The interview results showed that the“salon theme,”“tutor comments,”and“sharer output”are the focus of the first-year nursing master’s students in the academic salon.Conclusions:Academic salons can enhance postgraduate students’scientific research skills and foster a greater appreciation for scientific research.We can enhance academic salons by carefully choosing relevant themes,inviting knowledgeable presenters and expert tutors to provide feedback,and prioritizing equality and effective communication.

A Study of the Effect of Sichuan Opera Singing on the Vocal Skills of Music Students

The purpose of the article is to explore the effects of Sichuan opera singing on music majors’vocal skills,focusing on three key aspects:pitch test,assessment of rhythmic perception,and emotional expression.Through a quasi-experimental design,100 music majors were selected as research subjects and divided into an experimental group that received Sichuan opera singing instruction and a control group that received traditional vocal instruction.The results showed that compared with the control group,the experimental group receiving Sichuan opera singing teaching showed significant improvement in pitch mastery,rhythm perception,and emotional expression.

Construction of an Evaluation Index System for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education in Vocational Colleges from Students’Perspective

A Study on the Work Process-Based Practical Training Model for Basic Nursing Skills in Vocational Colleges

Objective:To explore and analyze the work process-based practical training teaching model for basic nursing skills in vocational colleges and its implementation effects.Methods:A total of 82 nursing students from our school were selected for the study,which was conducted from April 2023 to April 2024.Using a random number table method,the students were divided into an observation group and a control group,each with 41 students.The control group received conventional practical training teaching,while the observation group followed the work process-based practical training model for basic nursing skills.The assessment scores and teaching satisfaction of the two groups were compared.Results:The comparison of assessment scores showed that the observation group performed significantly better than the control group(P<0.05).The comparison of teaching satisfaction also indicated that the observation group had significantly higher satisfaction than the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:The work process-based practical training teaching model for basic nursing skills in vocational colleges can improve students’assessment scores and enhance teaching satisfaction,demonstrating its value for wider application.

The Impact of Internships on the Skill Acquisition Among Nursing Students in Vocational Colleges of Shandong Province

This research investigates the impact of internships on skill acquisition among nursing students in vocational colleges in Shandong Province.By employing a mixed-methods approach involving surveys and interviews,the study re-veals the positive influence of internships on students’clinical competencies,professional qualities,and readiness for the workforce.Survey findings indicate heightened practical capabilities and increased confidence among students.Interviews emphasize the pivotal role of mentors in guiding skills development and professional growth.However,challenges such as resource constraints and workload imbalances during internships are also highlighted.These insights contribute to the en-hancement of nursing education and the preparation of competent nursing professionals in the region.

An Investigation of Avoidance of Relative Clauses in the English Writings of High Vocational College Students

This study investigates the avoidance of relative clauses by high vocational college students and also explores the differences in the avoidance of the RCs by high-level students and low-level students in their English writings. The data used in this study have been collected from English writing tasks and analyzed by Statistical Package for Social Sciences(SPSS17.0). The major findings of this study are stated as follows: 1) There are significant differences in the production of the relative clauses in their English writings by Chinese higher vocational college students and English native speakers. Avoidance of relative clauses exists in the English writings of higher vocational college students. 2) High-level Chinese higher vocational college students display less of the avoidance phenomenon in their English writings than low-level students.
