Sulfur concrete (SC) is a relatively new type of construction material with advantages of the strong corrosion resistance and quick setting and hardening, which has been applied in construction engineering. SC is brittle with large hardening shrinkage, so it needs to be modified in the process of use. How SC can be modified is a key point of its improvement. In view of the existing research results, the research status of the modification in SC is summarized and concluded in this paper to generate some insights, including the understanding of variations in temperature, effects of molding methods and the addition of fillers and modifiers. 展开更多

The mix designs and specimen preparation for the dry process and wet process of sulfur rubber conerete ( SRC ) were investigated. The compressive strength, corrosion-resistance and toughness were studied and discussed. The results show that SRC is corrosion-resistanet. Although the compressive strength of SRC decreases with inereasing rubber content, the toughness increases instead . Adding micro-filler will improve the compressive strength of SRC . There is a threshold value for the sulfur content, at which the compressive strength and the workability of SRC reach an optimum balance . The bond between rubber particles and surrounding sulfur is strong due to the vulcanization process that generates cross-link through S-C bonds. 展开更多

This paper deals with the repair of damaged, plain concrete and polymer cement concrete by impregnation with methyl methacrylate (MMA) or sulfur. The stress-strain (σ-ε) curves of the unaxial compression of the concrete before and after repairing were given. The results indicate that the strength of damaged concrete can be reinstated and even improved after the concrete is impregnated with MMA or sulfur. The main mechanism of repairing is that the cracks, the original pores and microcracks are filled with MMA or sulfur, and the im-pregnant plays role in adhesion enhancement and reinforcement. 展开更多
