The FTIR shows that the polyacrylamide is grafted on the cellulose. After hydrolyzation, part of acrylamino groups are transformed into carboxyl groups. The XRD analysis shows that the graft polymerization occurred at the amorphous section and the surface of the crystal section of cellulose. The SEM graph reveals that there is a layer of polymer on the surface of cellulose fiber and the fibril structure of the cellulose surface is covered. After hydrolyzation, the surface of the product is different from that of cell g PAM's and the surface is scraggy. The technical conditions to prepare high water absorbent resin were confirmed. Through the radical graft copolymerization, the high water absorbent resin can be produced from wood pulp cellulose.展开更多

The SAR of the carboxymethyl cellulose grafting acrylic acid ( CMC-AA ) was copolymer synthesized using the method of inverse-phase suspension polymerization. The influences of the monomer concentration, neutralization degree, the initiator, dispersion agent, cross-linking agent, reaction and drying temperature on the grafting copolymer properties were examined. Thestructures of the two resins were characterized with Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy FTIR, scanning electron miscroscopy (SEM), and environment scanning electron miscroscopy (ESEM), the results indicate that the fibriform of the carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) is disappeared and the crusslink networks in eopolymer of carboxymethyl cellulose-graft-polyacrylic acid(CMC-g-PAA) are denser than that of eopolymer of carboxymethyl cellulose-graft-poly (acrylic acid-co-N-vinyl Pyrrolidone) (CMC-g- PAA-co-PVP). The comparison between the two resins in absorption capacities is that CMC-g-PAA is better in the water-keep capability being heated, while CMC-g-PAA-co-PVP is better in the water absorbency and salt resistance.展开更多

Ablation performance of super-hybrid composite is studied. The results show that the NSHC has less linear ablation rate compared with pure BPR and CF/BPR composite, for example, its linear ablation rate is 50% of CF/BPR at the same fiber content. Mass ablation rate of the NSHC is slightly lower than that of pure BPR and CF/BPR composite because of their difference in the density. Scanning electron microscopic analysis indicates that 3DRC can increase anti-erosion capacity of materials because its special reticulated structure can control the deformation of materials and strengthen the stability of integral structure.展开更多

Ablation performance of the NSHC was studied. The results show that the linear ablation rate of NSHC was lower than that of pure BPR and the high silica/BPR composite. Its linear ablation rate is 1/17 of the high silica/BPR. Mass ablation rate of the NSHC is very close to that of the pure BPR and the high silica/BPR composite. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) analysis indicates that 3DRC has scarcely changed its shape at the ablation temperature. Its special reticulated structure can restrict the materials deformation and prevent high velocity heat flow from eroding the surface of the materials largely and thus increase ablation resistance of the NSHC.展开更多

Resin flow (ml) at 1.4 m height over 24 hrs was measured from one 2.5 cm punch through the phloem between 0700 and 1000 hrs from March 1999 to September 2000, for a total of 9 measurements per tree. Resin was sampled in naturally active cavity trees, artificial (insert) active, natural inactive, artificial inactive and control pines (84 sample trees). Resin flow pattern was significantly different during the year, but not significantly different in the cavity tree type resin flow. Cavity trees in the 90th percentile (>33.0 ml resin in 24 hrs) were defined as super resin producing. High average resin flows in August 1999 and September 2000 indicate when to sample resin for potential cavity trees. Regression equations were produced to estimate future resin production.展开更多
