The Fast Fourier transform and continuous wavelet transform methods are applied to investigate the frequency characteristics. The results show that the dominant frequency of the explosive boiling is 0-2 MHz, and the bubble cluster formed by numerous tiny bubbles departs twice. We report on InP-based metamorphic InGaAs photodiodes grown by gas source molecular beam epitaxy (MBE), in which a relatively thin compositional graded wide band-gap InxAl1-xAs buffer layer is adopted. In the photod...We report on InP-based metamorphic InGaAs photodiodes grown by gas source molecular beam epitaxy (MBE), in which a relatively thin compositional graded wide band-gap InxAl1-xAs buffer layer is adopted. In the photodiodes, InAiAs is also taken as cap layers, so this structure is suitable for both front and back illuminations. At room temperature the photodiodes show 50% cut-off wavelength of 2.66μm, with measured peak detectivity of 4.91×10^9 cmHz^1/2/W at 2.57μm, and the typical dark current and RoA are 7.68μA/0.94Ωcm^2 and 291 nA/24.29Ωcm^2 at 290 K and 150 K respectively for the devices in diameter 300 μm. Their performances are compared to the 2.5μm cut-off photodiodes with similar structures.展开更多

This method is carried out and validated on the DVD read-only manufacture and readout system. A capacity of 15 GB can be expected, and a bit error rate of 10-4 is achieved. The capacity can meet the demand of high definition movie publication. This method also provides a potential multi-level solution for other storage formats and systems.展开更多

Mean and fluc...Experimental measurement of hypersonic boundary layer stability and transition on a sharp cone with a half angle of 5° is carried out at free-coming stream Mach number 6 in a hypersonic wind tunnel. Mean and fluc- tuation surface-thermal-flux characteristics of the hypersonic boundary layer flow are measured by Pt-thin-film thermocouple temperature sensors installed at 28 stations on the cone surface along longitudinal direction. At hypersonic speeds, the dominant flow instabilities demonstrate that the growth rate of the second mode tends to exceed that of the low-frequency mode. Wavelet-based cross-spectrum technique is introduced to obtain the multi-scale cross-spectral characteristics of the fluctuating signals in the frequency range of the second mode. Nonlinear interactions both of the second mode disturbance and the first mode disturbance axe demonstrated to be dominant instabilities in the initial stage of laminar-turbulence transition for hypersonic shear flow.展开更多

A 2.5μm ×...Room-temperature operation of cw GaN based multi-quantum-well laser diodes (LDs) is demonstrated. The LD structure is grown on a sapphire (0001) substrate by metalorganic chemical vapour deposition. A 2.5μm × 800μm ridge waveguide structure is fabricated. The electrical and optical characteristics of the laser diode under direct current injection at room temperature are investigated. The threshold current and voltage of the LD under cw operation are 110mA and 10.5V, respectively. Thermal induced series resistance decrease and emission wavelength red-shift are observed as the injection current is increased. The full width at half maximum for the parallel and perpendicular far field pattern (FFP) are 12° and 32°, respectively.展开更多

Lastly, a closed loop correction experiment is carried out and a high correction accuracy is obtained with peak to valley (PV) of 0.08λ (λ = 632.8 nm), the wavefront phase rms 0.015λ, as well as the Strehl ratio of 0.99. Based on photonie band gap theory, in this Letter we present a kind of SPP waveguide with multiple wavelength-channels. By using the Bragg effect and introducing some geometric defect layers into a quasi-periodic metal heterowaveguide, the multiple SPP forbidden bands (SPFBs) in a given waveband can be generated, and the multiple SPP pass bands (SPPBs) with narrow bandwidth in each SPFB can be realized. The SPP propagation in metal heterowaveguide is calculated by FDTD and transfer matrix methods. By selecting appropriate thickness, position and the number of defect layers, two SPPBs can be achieved in the SPFBs around 1.31 and 1.55μm simultaneously.展开更多
Based on daily satellite-observed outgoing longwave radiation (OLR) data, the tropical intraseasonal oscillation (ISO) associated with the Asian summer monsoon is found to be dominant during the 2005 summer. Such ...Based on daily satellite-observed outgoing longwave radiation (OLR) data, the tropical intraseasonal oscillation (ISO) associated with the Asian summer monsoon is found to be dominant during the 2005 summer. Such an ISO along with other tropical waves are identified using a wavenumber-frequency spectrum analysis. Some of Significant spectral peaks coincide well with the dispersion curves of the equatorially trapped wave modes from shallow'water theory, with various equivalent depths of 12-200 m, suggesting that actual tropical waves can be detected from observational data. Although the formation mechanism of the ISO is more complicated than those of other tropical waves with higher frequencies, significant spectral peaks that correspond to the ISO with a period of 30-60 days distinctly appear in the OLR spectra. The selective wavenumber-frequency filtering of OLR data is thus performed to isolate the ISO, Kelvin and equatoriai Rossby waves, and the properties and signatures of such tropical waves that control tropical atmospheric variability for the 2005 summer are clearly identified.展开更多

A set of coupled nonlinear algebraic equations is derived for the interracial displacements. The numerical results indicate that (a) the conjugate flow due to a two-dimensional body moving at the bottom possesses an apparent behaviour with two convex interfaces, (b) the solution satisfying the existence criterion is always unique near the relatively stable state of system. Theoretical analysis is qualitatively consistent with the experimental results obtained.展开更多

A doubl...We report a novel bi-layer thin film structure for high density magneto-optical (MO) data storage, which combines the advantages of blue wavelength and magnetically induced superresolution (MSR) recording. A double-layer system of exchange-coupled light rare-earth (LRE) element doped NdGdFeCo and traditional TbFeCo is used as the recording medium. The experimental results demonstrate that this NdGdFeCo/TbFeCo double layer has large Kerr rotation under blue wavelength. Centre aperture detection (CAD) MSR effect with temperature rising is also observed. Theoretical calculation is also carried out to verify the experimental results. These results collectively suggest that the new bilayer structure is very promising in next generation high density MO data storage.展开更多

The optimized grating can achieve 〉 95% diffraction efficiency in the first order at an incident angle of 5° from Littrow and a wavelength from 77Ohm to 83Ohm, with peak diffraction efieieney of 〉 99.5% at 80Ohm. The electric field distribution of the optimized multi-layer dielectric grating within the gratings ridge is 1.3 times enhancement of the incidence light, which presents potential high laser resistance ability. Because of its high-effieieney, wide incident, broad bandwidth and potential high resistance ability, the multi-layer dielectric grating should have practical application in Ti:sapphire laser systems.展开更多
A systematic investigation about the strain distributions around the InAs/GaAs quantum dots using the finite element method is presented. A special attention is paid to influence of an Ino.2 Gao.sAs strain reducing la...A systematic investigation about the strain distributions around the InAs/GaAs quantum dots using the finite element method is presented. A special attention is paid to influence of an Ino.2 Gao.sAs strain reducing layer. The numerical results show that the horizontal- and vertical-strain components and the biaz^ial strain are reinforced in the InAs quantum dot due to the strain-reducing layer. However, the hydrostatic strain in the quantum dot is reduced. In the framework of eight-band k · p theory, we study the band edge modifications due to the presence of a strain reducing layer. The results demonstrate that the strain reducing layer yields the decreasing band gap, i.e., the redshift phenomenon is observed in experiments. Our calculated results show that degree of the redshift will increase with the increasing thickness of the strain-reducing layer. The calculated results can explain the experimental results in the literature, and further confirm that the long wavelength emission used for optical fibre communication is realizable by adjusting the dependent parameters. However, based on the calculated electronic and heavy-hole wave function distributions, we find that the intensity of photoluminescence will exhibits some variations with the increasing thickness of the strain-reducing layer.展开更多

By considering the simplified argument we show that the multi-slit diffraction of evanescent waves which are in the near-field region also has the interference and diffraction effects, and that this two-fold effect can be expressed as the convolution of the diffraction factor and the interference factor. Our conclusion could be helpful to understand the contribution of evanescent waves to the optical responses of sub-wavelength structures such as slits and grooves.展开更多

A simple and effective data processing method calle...We present an interrogating technique employing a reformative arrayed waveguide grating without output waveguides in combination with a linear charge coupled device. A simple and effective data processing method called area equalized point is used to improve the system resolution. The simulation results show that the wavelength shift of a fibre Bragg grating with temperature can be precisely measured by this interrogation technique. The temperature accuracy and wavelength resolution of the sensor system are smaller than 0.08℃ and 0.8pm, respectively. If the FBG 3dB-bandwidth is 0.2nm with the wavelength spacing between two adjacent FBGs of 1.4 nm, the temperature and wavelength errors caused by crosstalk are respectively 0.01℃ and 0. 1 pm.展开更多

Its resin composites show the permeability μ'0 = 4.15 at low frequency, the natural resonance frequency fT = 1.71 GHz and the resonance bandwidth 6.66 GHz. The calculated static permeability of Nd2Fe17N3-δ reaches 133. The microwave magnetic properties are determined by the c-axis anisotropy field, basal plane anisotropy field and high saturation magnetization. Based on microwave measurement and theoretical fitting on complex permeability spectra, Nd2Fe17N3-δ may be a promising microwave absorber with bandwidth wider than traditional hexaferrites materials in GHz ranges.展开更多

文摘We develop a new cavity with a mode similar to TE13 to produce microwave plasma, named APMPS Ⅱ, which is able to produce a mass of air plasma with diameter of around 6 cm, equipped with about 3 kW input power under one atmosphere. The plasma seems to be homogeneous without significant filamentous discharge as observed by common camera device. We present the theory of this cavity, show the distribution of electric field of several planes inside the cavity and give some experimental results.

文摘We report on the design of a high diffraction efficiency multi-layer dielectric grating with wide incident angle and broad bandwidth for 80Ohm. The optimized grating can achieve 〉 95% diffraction efficiency in the first order at an incident angle of 5° from Littrow and a wavelength from 77Ohm to 83Ohm, with peak diffraction efieieney of 〉 99.5% at 80Ohm. The electric field distribution of the optimized multi-layer dielectric grating within the gratings ridge is 1.3 times enhancement of the incidence light, which presents potential high laser resistance ability. Because of its high-effieieney, wide incident, broad bandwidth and potential high resistance ability, the multi-layer dielectric grating should have practical application in Ti:sapphire laser systems.

文摘A systematic investigation about the strain distributions around the InAs/GaAs quantum dots using the finite element method is presented. A special attention is paid to influence of an Ino.2 Gao.sAs strain reducing layer. The numerical results show that the horizontal- and vertical-strain components and the biaz^ial strain are reinforced in the InAs quantum dot due to the strain-reducing layer. However, the hydrostatic strain in the quantum dot is reduced. In the framework of eight-band k · p theory, we study the band edge modifications due to the presence of a strain reducing layer. The results demonstrate that the strain reducing layer yields the decreasing band gap, i.e., the redshift phenomenon is observed in experiments. Our calculated results show that degree of the redshift will increase with the increasing thickness of the strain-reducing layer. The calculated results can explain the experimental results in the literature, and further confirm that the long wavelength emission used for optical fibre communication is realizable by adjusting the dependent parameters. However, based on the calculated electronic and heavy-hole wave function distributions, we find that the intensity of photoluminescence will exhibits some variations with the increasing thickness of the strain-reducing layer.
文摘The well-known Fraunhofer multi-slit diffraction is described as the multi-slit interference modulated by the singleslit diffraction, namely the multiplication between the single-slit diffraction factor and the multi-slit interference factor. By considering the simplified argument we show that the multi-slit diffraction of evanescent waves which are in the near-field region also has the interference and diffraction effects, and that this two-fold effect can be expressed as the convolution of the diffraction factor and the interference factor. Our conclusion could be helpful to understand the contribution of evanescent waves to the optical responses of sub-wavelength structures such as slits and grooves.

文摘Two-dimensional photonic crystal slab waveguides on SOI wafer are designed and fabricated. Photonic band gap, band gap guided mode, and index guided mode are observed by measuring the transmission spectra. The experimental results are in good agreement with the theoretical ones.

文摘We present an interrogating technique employing a reformative arrayed waveguide grating without output waveguides in combination with a linear charge coupled device. A simple and effective data processing method called area equalized point is used to improve the system resolution. The simulation results show that the wavelength shift of a fibre Bragg grating with temperature can be precisely measured by this interrogation technique. The temperature accuracy and wavelength resolution of the sensor system are smaller than 0.08℃ and 0.8pm, respectively. If the FBG 3dB-bandwidth is 0.2nm with the wavelength spacing between two adjacent FBGs of 1.4 nm, the temperature and wavelength errors caused by crosstalk are respectively 0.01℃ and 0. 1 pm.

文摘Microwave magnetic properties are studied for rhombohedral structure Nd2Fe17N3-δ with planar magnetic anisotropy. Its resin composites show the permeability μ'0 = 4.15 at low frequency, the natural resonance frequency fT = 1.71 GHz and the resonance bandwidth 6.66 GHz. The calculated static permeability of Nd2Fe17N3-δ reaches 133. The microwave magnetic properties are determined by the c-axis anisotropy field, basal plane anisotropy field and high saturation magnetization. Based on microwave measurement and theoretical fitting on complex permeability spectra, Nd2Fe17N3-δ may be a promising microwave absorber with bandwidth wider than traditional hexaferrites materials in GHz ranges.
