Numerical Simulation of Dynamic Response of Supple Nets

A simulation method based on the lumped mass model is proposed for determining the dynamic behavior of nets exposed to a uniform current. Every mesh bar is modeled by a linear bar clement. The lumped mass point is set at the ends of each element. The net can be simulated by a discretized model consisting of many point masses and elements without mass. 3D shapes and the distribution of tensions of the net at different moments can be found from time integration of a set of motion equations with a computer program. Two nets are simulated according to reference experiments. Calculated results are in accordance with experimental results. The method is applicable and can be applied to improving design of, and research into other flexible structures, such as net cages.

On the Definition of Life

The definition of life is a very important issue in the philosophy of biology,but this issue has unfortunately been neglected by the mainstream philosopher of biology for many years.In this paper,the difficulties with and the reasons for defining life are illustrated,the characteristics of life on Earth are explored,ways of defining life are examined,the main definitions of life are explained and evaluated,and finally,a new information definition of life is proposed.

Brief Analysis of Characteristics and Further Research Orientation of Bioenergy Supply Chain

Because of the pressure in environmental protection and the less amount of conventional energy, more and more countries around the world attached great importance to the development and utilization of bioenergy. Using bioenergy effectively and setting up a perfect bioenergy industry chain are the premises for bioenergy to be well developed. The main applications of bioenergy in China are electric power generating and fuel refining. But there is still some gap between Chinaand other countries in bioenergy’s development, not only in the technology, but also in government policy support. First of all, this paper briefly introduces the concept and the basic condition, the development and utilization of bioenergy inChina. Secondly, this paper makes an analysis and comparison of supply chain for the biomass and coal. Finally, this paper gives some suggestions to the further research orientation of the biomass supply chain based on its characteristics.
