The ability of dynamic contrast enhanced magnetic resonance imaging(DCE MRI) with a new devised animal surface coil was analyzed in identifying atherosclerotic plaques in the rabbit medium-sized iliac artery(IA).Then a comparative analysis of multi-detector computed tomography(MDCT) and DCE MRI was done in discerning morphology and components of 80 atherosclerotic plaques identified by histopathology. It shows that the DCE MRI may be an emerging noninvasive and economic way to characterize atherosclerotic plaques at present. What's more, a new devised animal surface coil would further improve the signal-to-noise ratio(SNR) and the quality of imaging. However, CT angiography(CTA) may be better than MR angiography(MRA) in detecting vessel stenosis. 展开更多

Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) can noninvasively monitor intracellular concentrations and kinetic properties of numerous inorganic and organic compounds. A ^31p NMR surface coil was used in vivo to dynamically measure phosphocreatine (PCr), adenosine triphosphate (ATP), and intracellular inorganic phosphate (Pi) levels in mouse brain during ischemia-reperfusion to study the damage of cerebral tissues caused by ischemia and effects of herbs on cerebral energy metabolism during ischemia-reperfusion. The study provides dynamic brain energy metabolism data during different periods. The data show that some herbs more rapidly increase the PCr level during the recovery phase than in the control group. 展开更多

Information on brain metabolism is very important, especially concerning the sequence of hypoxic ischemic episodes. Ultrasound, magnetic resonance image (MRI) and computer aided topography (CAT) allow visualization of changes due to hemorrhages. However, these methods do not detect the biochemical effects due to hypoxia and ischemia. This paper presents in vivo observations of brain metabolism attested by hypoxide and ischemia made using magnetic resonance spectroscopy(MRS), a noninvasive and nondestructive method which can identify the chemical compounds and monitor their changes during the biochemical reaction process for in vivo dynamic observation. 展开更多
