MSWM encompasses a range of interdisciplinary measures that govern the various stages involved in managing unwanted or non-utilizable solid materials, commonly known as rubbish, trash, junk, refuse, and garbage. These stages include generation, storage, collection, recycling, transportation, handling, disposal, and monitoring. The waste materials mentioned in this context exhibit a wide range of items, such as organic waste from food and vegetables, paper, plastic, polyethylene, iron, tin cans, deceased animals, byproducts from demolition activities, manure, and various other discarded materials. This study aims to provide insights into the possibilities of enhancing solid waste management in the Farmgate area of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC). To accomplish this objective, the research examines the conventional waste management methods employed in this area. It conducts extensive field surveys, collecting valuable data through interviews with local residents and key individuals involved in waste management, such as waste collectors, dealers, intermediate dealers, recyclers, and shopkeepers. The results indicate that significant amounts of distinct waste categories are produced daily. These include food and vegetable waste, which amount to 52.1 tons/day;polythene and plastic, which total 4.5 tons/day;metal and tin-can waste, which amounts to 1.4 tons/day;and paper waste, which totals 5.9 tons/day. This study highlights the significance of promoting environmental consciousness to effectively shape the attitudes of urban residents toward waste disposal and management. It emphasizes the need for collaboration between authorities and researchers to improve the current waste management system.展开更多

The firm's system has the characteristics of dissipative structure. The process of the formation for the sustainable growth capability is one of self-organization operations. The evolution and development of sustainable growth capability is the result of inter-functions and inter-operations among all the sub-systems. On the whole, the current level of sustainable growth capability, the four-capability structure and the random rise-and-fall elements of the external environment determine the direction, speed and level of transition of sustainable growth capability. The self-organization mechanism of the enterprise's sustainable growth can be illustrated by the instability of system evolution, the sequence parameter, the potential function and the nonequilibrium phase transition. Chinese firms must pay attention to industry selecting and positioning, technology innovation, institution reform and cultivation of market power, and accelerate the formation of self-organization and effective operation through the dynamic integration and inter-operation of industry, technology, institution and market power. Only in this way can firms cultivate and develop their sustainable growth capability and realize enterprises' sustainable growth finally.展开更多

As Thailand is the leader for petrochemical and refining businesses within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), from upstream to intermediate and downstream manufacturing units, Map Ta Phut also plays a major role in chemical and energy development in the region. Not only has Map Ta Phut become a unique and modem industrial complex, which continues to expand rapidly, but it also exemplifies Thailand's effort to develop a comprehensive heavy industrial zone. Although industrial expansion has helped to create employment, income, and prosperity for some local communities in the coastal Rayong province, it has also created concern about inequity between areas with fast developing industries and surrounding communities. These concerns eventually led to widespread protests by locals and non-governmental organizations. Despite the adherence by companies to all environmental regulations, especially the environmental impact assessment, and their proactive participation in many activities to improve the province's standard of living and quality of life, public concerns have not decreased, Hence, companies must rethink and reposition their pursuit of technological development. They also need to achieve harmony so that industry can coexist with communities and be friendly to the environment as a whole. Astute large companies recognize that achieving a fine balance among the three aspects of life: economy, social, and ecology can be part of a new industrial development strategy.展开更多

Additionally, the author lists the major challenges confronting China's sustainable tax growth during the "12th Five-Year Plan "period (2011-2015), for example, slowed growth in sources of taxation, a mismatched tax system, lagging reform in fiscal structure and the management system, and restrictions in tax collection and administration capacity. The author proposes the following suggestions: 1) a structural taxation reform should be carried out to promote sustainable economic growth and a change in development model, thereby consolidating the source base of taxation; 2) to consolidate the fiscal and taxation system through taxes and fees reform, standardizing the government budget, advancing reform in the tax-sharing system, and optimizing fiscal expenditure; and 3) to strengthen tax collection mechanisms by promoting taxation by law, implementing comprehensive taxation administration in the government, and improving the tax collection capacity.展开更多

Ther...The economic growth in Sub-Sahara African (SSA) IDB member countries has been encouraging over the last decade; however, it is still not high enough to enable these countries to overcome the persistent poverty. There is thus a need to raise substantially real GDP growth rates on a sustained basis, both through the productivity channel and factor accumulation such as labor and capital. This study focuses on "the source of economic growth in SSA IDB member countries" with the objective of identifying the main driving factors of economic growth in the region using the growth accounting framework and extending the existing analysis both by country and time coverage. The paper is expected to be useful for the policymakers in the region to have a clear picture on the main sources of growth, and thus help them in identifying strategic reform areas of intervention in line with the most binding factors of growth. The data used in this study cover 20 Sub-Sahara African countries covering the period 1990-2012. The data set includes real GDP, labor force, and capital stock. The source of data is the various version of the World Economic Outlook, IMF. Capital stock is estimated using perpetual inventory method and the base year is 1970. In estimating growth accounting model, a translog production function is applied using panel data and random effects model. Empirical results show that the capital accumulation is the most important individual factor in GDP growth (52%) followed by workforce accumulation (39%) while total factor productivity (TFP) accounts for meagre 8%. This suggests that, on average, real GDP growth in Sub-Sahara African countries was driven primarily by factor accumulation with a low level of TFP. In addition, the elasticity of labor was lower than that of capital indicating that the labor played very little role in GDP growth most likely due to unskilled labor force or mismatch of labor skills with the production process. Furthermore, this also adversely affects both the TFP growth and the share of capital growth to the GDP growth. The results indicate that the critical constraint to the economic growth appears to be poor labor skills that lead to both low labor productivity and under-utilization of capital stock.展开更多

It shows the impact of characteristics variables of this sector in the process of sustainable growth. The contribution of these indicators in sustainable development, notably public expenditures, debt servicing or public debt and fiscal revenue is determined by using the Stoehastie Frontier Analysis approach (SFA). A significant connection between public expenditures, debt servicing and sustainable growth ratio is established by the model studied. The research results show an encouraging but low level of efficiency in State financial management policy. Thus, in order to avoid a sovereign debt crisis that developed countries of Europe are facing these current days, some efforts must continue to be done not only to control the public debt, but also for a better allowance of public expenditures and a good collection of State revenue.展开更多
