For the fuzzy set theory, membership functions are the building blocks. In a fuzzy set, fuzziness is determined by its membership functions. The shapes of membership functions are important, because it has an effect on fuzzy inference system. The shapes of membership functions can be triangular, trapezoidal and gaussian. The most widely used triangular membership function is used in this paper, because it can capture the short time period. In washing machine, open loop control system is found. This paper applies a fuzzy synthetic evaluation method (FSEM) for washing cloth in washing machine as FSEM can handle the multiple criteria with the help of evaluation matrix generated from membership function and weight matrix generated by Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). The purpose of this research is to minimize the wash time. By applying FSEM, we get a wash time which is less than that wash time got from applying the Mamdani approach in FCS. An example is given for illustration. For more reduction of wash time, statistical averaging method is also used. To reduce the wash time, statistical averaging method can be used in Mamdani approach also.展开更多

The deviation between the index value of each level and the values of the same index of other levels are formulated, and an optimal model is gained, thus establishing the weight coefficients of the whole optimal attribute system. Furthermore, the detailed implementation procedure of this method is introduced. Earlier research works on fire risk evaluation indicated that an objective,reliable,comprehensive,and practical fire risk evaluation model is essential for mitigating fire occurrence in building construction sites.Nev...Earlier research works on fire risk evaluation indicated that an objective,reliable,comprehensive,and practical fire risk evaluation model is essential for mitigating fire occurrence in building construction sites.Nevertheless,real empirical studies in this research area are quite limited.This journal paper gives an account of the second stage of a research study aiming at developing a fuzzy fire risk evaluation model for building construction sites in Hong Kong.The empirical research findings showed that the overall fire risk level of building construction sites is 3.6427,which can be interpreted as“moderate risk”.Also,the survey respondents perceived that“Restrictions for On-Site Personnel”is the most vital fire risk factor;with“Storage of Flammable Liquids or Dangerous Goods”being the second;and“Attitude of Main Contractor”the third.The proposed fuzzy fire risk evaluation model for building construction sites can be used to assess the overall fire risk level for a building construction site,and to identify improvement areas needed.Although the fuzzy fire risk evaluation model was developed domestically in Hong Kong,the research could be reproduced in other nations to develop similar models for international comparisons.Such an extension would provide a deeper understanding of the fire risk management on building construction sites.展开更多

In many ca...In conventional reliability-based optimum design of structures, the reliability is computed based on the probability assumption, and the design objective and constraint are considered as deterministic ones. In many cases, however, there exist some fuzzy factors in the design objective and constraint functions. In this paper, the fuzzy reliability and fuzzy constraint are introduced to establish the fuzzy reliability-based optimum model for laminated composites. The examples show that the method developed in this paper can give consideration to both the reliability demand and the economic aspect of a structure. Since the fuzzy reliability-based optimum design is a 'soft' design, the present results provide a new methodology for the effective evaluation of structural reliability and bring us an alternative optimum design idea.展开更多

The quantitative analysis is conducted on the developmental status of the functions of farmer cooperatives. The evaluation results are taken as evidence to anticipate the problems in the development of farmer cooperatives and then countermeasures are put forward, including intensifying the construction of actual functions of farmer cooperatives; contracting diversified credit and loan services; improving comprehensive strength of farmer cooperatives and taking the path of combining professional and comprehensive developmental paths. The dynamic changes in the malondialdehyde(MDA), superoxide dismutase(SOD), soluble sugar, proline, and soluble protein contents, as well as the relative electrolyte conductivity and the corresponding cold resista...The dynamic changes in the malondialdehyde(MDA), superoxide dismutase(SOD), soluble sugar, proline, and soluble protein contents, as well as the relative electrolyte conductivity and the corresponding cold resistance, of Cinnamomum bodinieri Level., C. camphora L., and C. caudiferum Kisterm were investigated during the winter months of October 2009 to April 2010. During the short period of temperature decline that lasted until mid-December, the changes in the relative electrolyte conductivity and MDA content with temperature were insignificant. In January, SOD activity continued to increase and then peaked as a result of rapid increases in soluble sugar, proline, soluble protein, as well as the inhibition of the relative electrolyte conductivity and decrease in MDA content. These physiological changes protected the camphor trees from cold damage during winter. From February to March, SOD activity and the soluble protein and proline contents increased with the increase in temperature. However, the relative electrolyte conductivity and MDA content decreased, indicating that the cell membrane damaged by low temperature was gradually being repaired. The cold dip in April led to slight increases in the relative electrolyte conductivity and MDA content. Using a fuzzy mathematics method, the cold resistance adaptability of the camphor trees was divided into three periods namely, the enhancement setting stage, the vigorous stage, and the reducing stage. The cold tolerance abilities were ranked as the following order: C. bodinieri Level〉C. camphora L.〉C. caudiferum Kisterm.展开更多

It showed that most of the substitute media could f...Five kinds of agricultural castoffs, such as sawdust and powder of coconut coir, were used as growing media to substitute the peat moss for potted Cyclamen percicum. It showed that most of the substitute media could fit for the growth of the root system without disturbing the spatial development of the root. The root activities of the plants in substitute media were all higher or not significantly lower than that in the contrast peat moss (PM). The substitute media might not make adverse effects on the biosynthesis of chlorophyll of C. percicum leaves, and the nutrient components contained in the substitute media itself was none of the content of mineral elements in the leaves. The morphological indexes of C. percicum plants growing in the substitute media except in the powder of coconut coir (PCC) were all better than those in the contrast PM. The synthetically evaluation index of the plant showed that the sawdust, the powder of maize core, the powder of soybean stalk, the powder of peanut hull could take place the peat moss totally in C. percicum industrialization cultivation.展开更多

Two important parts are improved, the weights determining and fuzzy membership functions. The coefficient of variation of each indicator is used to determine the weight instead of traditional calculating superscales method. On the other hand, fuzzy matter-elements are constructed, and normal membership degrees are used instead of traditional trapezoidal ones. The composite fuzzy matter-elements with associated coefficient are constructed through associated transformation. The levels of natural water quality are determined according to the principle of maximum correlation. The improved fuzzy matter-element evaluation method is applied to evaluate water quality of the Luokou mainstream estuary at the first ten weeks in 2011 with the coefficient of variatiola method determining the weights. Water quality of Luokou mainstream estuary is dropping from level I to level II. The results of the improved evaluation method are basically the same as the official water quality. The variation coefficient method can reduce the workload, and overcome the adverse effects from abnormal values, compared with the traditional calculating superscales method. The results of improved fuzzy matter- element evaluation method are more credible than the ones of the traditional evaluation method. The improved evaluation method can use information of monitoring data more scientifically and comprehensively, and broaden a new evaluation method for water quality assessment.展开更多

The weights of factors are calculated by analytic hierarchy process, and the influence sequence of assessment is determined. Choosing Cauchy distribution, subjection function of factor sets and judging matrix were obtained. Safe evaluation vector was calculated and the safety status grade of the freeway was estimated through fuzzy synthetic assessment. The construction safety status of five work sites in Hubei Hurongxi Freeway is evaluated by using fuzzy synthetic evaluation model. Construction safety evaluation ranks and degrees of all work sites were calculated. Results show that the situations of safety control management and the security of the third work site should be strengthened. Results also reveal that the whole safety on thespot can be determined by adopting fuzzy assessment. Also, corresponding preventive and improvement measures are provided.展开更多

文摘Pile-type selection is a very important stage of foundation design,and there are many field factors influencing the decision of pile-type selection.Since there is a limitation of traditional"major factors method"to satisfy the requirement of modem foundation construction,this study presents an efficient approach,in which analytic hierarchy process(AHP)is employed.AHP is a multiple criteria decision-making tool that has been applied in many fields related to the decision-making,e.g.,in the field of economics,marketing,sociology,etc.However,it is rarely reported that AHP is applied in the field of civil engineering for decision making.In this study,AHP combined with fuzzy synthetic evaluation method is employed to select the type of pile used as the foundation of a residential building in Fuzhou,Fujian Province,China.The results show that fuzzy AHP approach is an easy and efficient way for pile-type selection.

文摘A fuzzy synthetic assessment model of construction safety in a mountainous freeway is established as well as a relevant safety assessment factor system. The weights of factors are calculated by analytic hierarchy process, and the influence sequence of assessment is determined. Choosing Cauchy distribution, subjection function of factor sets and judging matrix were obtained. Safe evaluation vector was calculated and the safety status grade of the freeway was estimated through fuzzy synthetic assessment. The construction safety status of five work sites in Hubei Hurongxi Freeway is evaluated by using fuzzy synthetic evaluation model. Construction safety evaluation ranks and degrees of all work sites were calculated. Results show that the situations of safety control management and the security of the third work site should be strengthened. Results also reveal that the whole safety on thespot can be determined by adopting fuzzy assessment. Also, corresponding preventive and improvement measures are provided.
