Work-related quality of life and performance appraisal among nurses at a tertiary hospital in Philippines

Objective:The objective of the study is to describe the work-related quality of life(WRQOL)among nurses and explore its association with performance evaluation ratings.Methods:A cross-sectional design was utilized measuring the WRQOL scale and the previous performance appraisal rating.Multistage sampling approach was utilized with nurses stratified based on their position and then systematically random sampled based on their unit assignment.Results:One hundred and eighty-two nurses were included.About half reported a high quality of work life(101;55.5%).Low scores were noted on the subscale working conditions(100;54.9%),low to average responses for home-work interface(109;59.9%),control at work(100;54.9%),and stress at work(90;49.5%).A higher proportion of nurses reported positive responses toward the areas of general well-being(113;62.1%)and job-career satisfaction(112;61.5%),than in the other subscales.There were notable differences between WRQOL ratings:(1)Head nurses had the highest perceived quality of work life,followed by nurse supervisors and charge nurses(F=6.1,P<0.01)and(2)Nurses in the pay-patient services reported lower quality of working life,while those in office and outpatient services had more positive scores(F=4.6,P<0.01).Conclusion:Only more than half of the nurses reported a high quality of work life,some of its dimensions,particularly job and career satisfaction and working conditions,appeared to vary in the perceived degree across years in service,work hours,and position.The assessment of the quality of work life may serve as an important tool to address staff burnout,absenteeism and other issues that affect job performance among health-care professionals. 展开更多

高性能竹基复材加固木梁的协同工作性能研究

竹钢是一种高性能竹基复合材料和重组竹制品,具有可以和钢材媲美的拉、压、弯曲强度。用钢带(无损)或钢带加少量钢钉(微损)锚固竹钢板材加固古建筑木梁,可以实现对古建筑木梁的无损/微损和可逆加固。为了研究不同加固方法和竹钢板厚度... 竹钢是一种高性能竹基复合材料和重组竹制品,具有可以和钢材媲美的拉、压、弯曲强度。用钢带(无损)或钢带加少量钢钉(微损)锚固竹钢板材加固古建筑木梁,可以实现对古建筑木梁的无损/微损和可逆加固。为了研究不同加固方法和竹钢板厚度等因素对木梁协同工作性能的影响,该文对10根木梁进行了弯曲加载试验,对试件的受力过程、破坏形态、初始抗弯刚度及变形能力进行了比较和分析。研究结果表明:竹钢板与木梁可以协同工作,加固后木梁的抗弯承载力、刚度均显著提升,抗弯承载力的提高幅度为47.94%~139.74%,刚度的提高幅度为4%~128%;其中全包加固试件加固效果最佳;拉压复合加固和全包加固试件破坏后的残余抗弯承载能力可达未加固木梁极限抗弯承载力的74%~138%,说明采用这两种加固方式对有缺陷木梁进行加固可以弥补木材初始缺陷的不足。建立了竹钢板加固木梁的抗弯承载力计算公式,理论计算与试验结果吻合良好。 展开更多

This study investigates the functioning mechanisms of how high performance work systems (HPWS) affect organizational performance. We propose that (HPWS) can positively affect organizational performance through the mediating role of entrepreneurial orientation. An organization with high performance work systems can perform better if it enjoys high level of organizational learning. We design and administer a survey questionnaire to high-level executives or founders of companies from manufacturing and service industries and receive 176 valid responses. The results of the empirical data indicate that the relationship between high performance work systems and corporate performance is more positive when organizational learning is stronger. Entrepreneurial orientation partially mediates the relationship between high performance work systems and organizational performance. This study opens new research avenues by extending and incorporating explanations and predictions of HPWS and entrepreneurial orientation, two areas that largely have been considered independently of each other. Implications for practice and directions for future research are provided. 展开更多

Employee creativity is both the core element of a firm's innovation capabilities and the sources for its growth. To improve an organization's ability to innovate, it is necessary to improve the creativity of its employees. Based on theories from strategic human resource management, creativity and organizational learning, this paper investigates the relationship between high performance work systems and employee creativity and explores the role knowledge sharing plays in their relationship. A questionnaire is designed and administered to a group of part-time executive students in the winter of 2012. Two hundred students are invited to answer the survey questions with 117 valid responses. Data are collected and processed by using statistical regressions. The empirical findings reveal that high performance work systems positively affect knowledge sharing and employee creativity. Knowledge sharing plays a mediating role in the relationship between high performance work systems and employee creativity. Implications for practice and future research are discussed. 展开更多

This study examines the key human resources factors that affect volunteers' service performance from the perspectives of volunteers and managers in the Beijing Summer Olympic Games of 2008. Survey data were collected from 1,727 volunteers and 243 managers at the Beijing Olympics test events held at 10 venues between November 2007 and April 2008. Regression analyses and a moderation test were combined to test the hypotheses. A set of high performance work systems (HPWS) for volunteers in the Beijing Summer Olympic Games were developed which include performance management, training, recognition, teamwork and volunteer participation. Volunteer HPWS were positively related to psychological empowerment, which was in turn positively related to service recovery performance. Moreover, transformational leadership moderates the relationship between volunteer HPWS and psychological empowerment in such a way that the relationship is stronger when transformational leadership is at a higher level than when it is at a lower level.Implications and limitations were also discussed. 展开更多

Considering the fact that high arch dams have problems such as complicated stress,high cost,and hazards after being damaged,this paper intends to study the effects of load,material strength,and safety analysis method on dam safety and working performance of arch dams.In this article,the effects of temperature,self weight exaction way and water loading on structure response are first discussed,and a more reasonable way of considering is then put forward.By taking into consideration the mechanical property of materials and comparing the effects of different yield criteria on overloading safety of high arch dams,this paper concludes that brittle characteristics of concrete should be fully considered when conducting safety assessment for high arch dams to avoid overestimating the bearing capacity of the dams.By comparing several typical projects,this paper works out a safety assessment system of multiple safety and relevant engineering analogical analysis methods,which is closer to the actual situation,and thus is able to assess the response of high arch dam structure in a more comprehensive way,elicit the safety coefficients in different situations,and provide a new way of considering the safety assessment of high arch dams. 展开更多

As an integrated structure,an arch dam is assumed to bear loads in its design consideration.However,multi-defects,such as cracks and the opening of transverse joints,are unavoidable during construction and operation.Multi-defects will reduce the structural integrity and stiffness of the dam and affect its working performance and degree of safety.In the current paper,a numerical model of defects and a simulation method of a high arch dam are introduced.The Chencun arch dam is analyzed as a case study.An entire course simulation analysis of the Chencun arch dam from construction to operation is carried out,through which the opening of the transverse and longitudinal joints,formation of cracks,and their influence on deformation and stress of the dam are studied.According to the results of the analysis,appropriate measures should be adopted to prevent the development of cracks,and observation should be strengthened for a more timely discovery of risks. 展开更多

Detonation performance is crucial for evaluating the power of high explosives(HEs),and the equation of state(EOS)that accurately describes the high-temperature,high-pressure,and high-temperature,medium-pressure states of detonation products is key to assessing the damage efficiency of these energetic materials.This article examines the limitations of the VLW EOS in representing the thermodynamic states of explosive detonation gas products under high-temperature and medium-to high-pressure conditions.A new gas EOS for detonation products,called VHL(Virial-Han-Long),is proposed.The accuracy of VHL in describing gas states under high-temperature and medium-to high-pressure conditions is verified,and its performance in evaluating explosive detonation and working capabilities is explored.The results demonstrate that VHL exhibits high precision in calculating detonation performance.Subsequently,the detonation performance of three new HEs(ICM-101,ONC,and TNAZ)was calculated and compared to traditional HEs(TATB,CL-20,and HMX).The results indicate that ONC has superior detonation performance compared to the other explosives,while ICM-101 shows a detonation velocity similar to CL-20 but with slightly lower detonation pressure.The detonation characteristics of TNAZ are comparable to those of the standard HE HMX.From the perspective of products,considering the comprehensive work performance(mechanical work and detonation heat),both ONC and ICM-101demonstrate relatively superior performance. 展开更多

对比研究了钢纤维形状及掺量对超高性能混凝土(UHPC)工作性能及力学性能的影响,并通过SEM分析研究其演化机理。结果表明:随钢纤维掺量的增加,UHPC的工作性能变差,且端勾型钢纤维对工作性能劣化最明显。当钢纤维掺量为1.5%~2.5%时,端勾... 对比研究了钢纤维形状及掺量对超高性能混凝土(UHPC)工作性能及力学性能的影响,并通过SEM分析研究其演化机理。结果表明:随钢纤维掺量的增加,UHPC的工作性能变差,且端勾型钢纤维对工作性能劣化最明显。当钢纤维掺量为1.5%~2.5%时,端勾型和长直线型钢纤维UHPC的抗压、抗折及劈裂抗拉强度较高;当钢纤维掺量超过1.0%后,UHPC的拉压比会出现大幅提高,折压比相对提高不明显;当钢纤维掺量为1.5%~2.0%时,短直线型钢纤维UHPC的力学性能和工作性能最佳。SEM分析发现,钢纤维在基体中错向连续搭接分布,形成三维网状结构,能够阻止宏观裂缝的产生和微裂纹的发展,使UHPC表现出良好的力学性能。 展开更多

兼顾型高绩效工作系统的组态效应研究:一个链式中介模型

既有研究中,关于多导向实践的兼顾型高绩效工作系统(HPWS)尚在起步阶段,且其构成与内部交互效应的研究也较为缺乏。本研究基于工作要求—资源理论从组态视角探讨了兼顾型HPWS的承诺型与控制型子系统交互而成的不同组态对员工工作倦怠的... 既有研究中,关于多导向实践的兼顾型高绩效工作系统(HPWS)尚在起步阶段,且其构成与内部交互效应的研究也较为缺乏。本研究基于工作要求—资源理论从组态视角探讨了兼顾型HPWS的承诺型与控制型子系统交互而成的不同组态对员工工作倦怠的影响,以及工作重塑和个人—工作匹配的链式中介作用。基于493份两个时点的纵向数据分析发现,承诺型子系统和控制型子系统对工作倦怠有不同影响,进而兼顾型HPWS的不同组态对工作倦怠的影响存在显著差异,并识别出有效组态(高承诺—高控制、高承诺—低控制)和无效组态(低承诺—高控制、低承诺—低控制),得出影响效果的排序;工作重塑和个人—工作匹配在上述关系间均表现出部分中介作用,并且存在以工作重塑和个人—工作匹配为中介变量的链式中介路径。 展开更多

The energy density of non-aqueous carbon-based electrochemical capacitors(cEC)is mainly determined by the specific capacitance and operational voltage range.In this study,we propose to construct an unbalanced structure to make full use of stable voltage range for improving energy density.The stable voltage range is firstly carefully explored using cyclic voltammetry.Then an unbalanced carbon-based electrochemical capacitor(ucEC)is constructed with an optimized positive electrode to negative electrode weight ratio and voltage range.Its electrochemical performance is comprehensively investigated,including energy density,power density as well as cycle life.The ucEC is capable to deliver an improved energy density up to 64.9 Wh/kg(1.4 times as high as a general cEC)without sacrificing the power density and cycle life.The electrode properties after cycling are also analyzed,illustrating the change of electrode potential caused by unbalanced structure.The proposed structure demonstrates a great potential for improving the energy density at little cost of electrode design and cell configuration. 展开更多
