Feature Selection for SVM Classifiers Based on Discretization

The rough sets and Boolean reasoning based discretization approach (RSBRA) is no t suitable for feature selection for machine learning algorithms such as neural network or SVM because the information loss due to discretization is large. A mo dified RSBRA for feature selection was proposed and evaluated with SVM classifie rs. In the presented algorithm, the level of consistency, coined from the rough sets theory, is introduced to substitute the stop criterion of circulation of th e RSBRA, which maintains the fidelity of the training set after discretization. The experimental results show the modified algorithm has better predictive accur acy and less training time than the original RSBRA. 展开更多

Most patients lost their vocal ability after ablative surgery for the laryngeal cancer. Total laryngectomy has a history of over 100 years, hence many surgeons are accustomed to the en bloc organ resection and the loss of ability for communication after surgery. The recent advance of surgery introduces the concept and technique of radical cure and functional preservation of the cancer-afflicted-organ at same setting. For lesions of late T categories (T3, T4), the maintenance of normal function after wide resection to ensure radicality demands a special technique to repair the crippled larynx. For this purpose a local osteomuscular flap was designed to reconstruct a functioning larynx. The surgical manoeuvre was described and the result proved to be successful. The outcome of 138 patients with T3 and T4 laryngeal carcinomas following conservation laryngectomy was analyzed. The five-year survival rate was 69% for supraglottic type and 75% for glottic type. The quality of life was much improved. 展开更多

T cell development proceeds un der the in fluence of a n etwork of transcription factors(TFs).The precise role of Zeb1,a member of this network,remains unclear.Here,we report that Zeb1 expression is induced early during T cell development in CD4^(-)CD8^(-)double-negative(DN)stage 2(DN2).Zeb1 expression was further increased in the CD4^(+)CD8^(+)double-positive(DP)stage before decreasing in more mature T cell subsets.We performed an exhaustive characterization of T cells in Cellophane mice that bear Zeb 7 hypomorphic mutations.The Zebl mutation profoundly affected all thymic subsets,especially DN2 and DP cells.Zeb1 promoted the survival and proliferation of both cell populations in a cell-intrinsic manner.In the periphery of Cellophane mice,the number of conventional T cells was near normal,but invariant NKT cells,NK1.1^(+)γδ T cells and Ly49^(+)CD8 T cells were virtually absent.This suggested that Zebl regulates the development of unconventional T cell types from DP progenitors.A transcriptomic analysis of WT and Cellophane DP cells revealed that Zebl regulated the expression of multiple genes involved in the cell cycle and TCR sign aling,which possibly occurred in cooperation with Tcf1 and Heb.In deed,Cellophane DP cells displayed stron ger signaling than WT DP cells upon TCR engagement in terms of the calcium respons巳phosphorylation events,and expression of early genes.Thus,Zebl is a key regulator of the cell cycle and TCR signaling during thymic T cell development.We propose that thymocyte selection is perturbed in Zeb7-mutated mice in a way that does not allow the survival of unconventional T cell subsets. 展开更多

Based on our previous work,a series of hydrazone moiety-bearing aminopyrimidines were synthesized.The compounds were evaluated for inhibitory activities against EGFRT790M/L858 R and antiproliferative activities against H1975 and A549 NSCLC cell lines harboring different forms of EGFR.Compounds 7f and7 k exhibited potent and selective activity in inhibition of gefitinib-resistant H1975 cancer cells(IC50;0.45,0.2μmol/L) while were much less active on A549 cancer cells(IC50;52.83,〉100μmol/L).Both compounds could be served as promising lead compounds for further investigation. 展开更多
