Preconditioning stimulus:Preconditioning is an adaptive response, whereby a small dose of a harmful substance protects the brain from a subsequent damaging insult(Dirnagl et al.,2009).The concept of preconditioning was first described in an ischemic heart model,it was observed that brief ischemic episodes protect against a subsequent ischemic insult(Murry et al., 1986). 展开更多

The incidence of intractable age-related neurodegenerative conditions such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases and age-related macular degeneration is projected to increase substantially over the coming decades with the ageing of the global population. While the burden of disease associ- ated with other chronic conditions has decreased in recent times due to improved diagnosis and treatment, current therapies for neurodegenerative diseases still fall short in that they are only effective in treating signs and symptoms - they do little to slow or prevent disease progress. Thus, there is an urgent need for treatments that address disease progression. 展开更多

Prematurely born newborns,as well as those born at term, may suffer from several types of brain injury including hypoxic-ischemic injury, intracranial hemorrhage, both intraventricular and parenchymal, and injury that is the consequence of intrauterine growth restriction(IUGR).Injury of all types can impact the motor and cognitive abilities of survivors. The mechanisms leading to disability are not completely understood. 展开更多

Focal ischemic stroke(FIS)results from the lack of blood flow in a particular region of the brain and accounts for about 80%of all human strokes.Although tremendous efforts have been made in translational research, the treatment strategies are still limited.Tissue plasminogen activator is the only FDA-approved drug currently available for acute stroke treatment, 展开更多

In this work,a facile and sensitive colorimetric detection method was firstly reported for RNase A activity detection based on target regulated protection effect of chimeric DNA probe on the salt-induced aggregation of plasmonic gold nanoparticles.Compared with previous works of RNase A activity detection, this colorimetric assay integrated the advantages of sensitive, low cost, facile operation, rapid response and low biological toxicity. 展开更多
