The Role of Cultural Factors in Chinese non-English Majors' EFL Learning and Teaching

This article aims at the discussion of cultural interferences in foreign language teaching and learning for Chinese non-English majors. It also calls for more attention from teachers, textbook compilers, and students themselves.

Exploring the Application Effect of Flipped Classroom Combined with Problem-Based Learning Teaching Method in Clinical Skills Teaching of Standardized Training for Resident Doctors of Traditional Chinese Medicine

Objective: To explore the application effect of flipped classroom combined with problem-based learning teaching method in clinical skills teaching of standardized training for resident doctors of traditional Chinese Medicine. Methods: The study used the experimental control method. The study lasted from September to November 2022. The subjects of this study were 49 students of standardized training for resident doctors of traditional Chinese Medicine from grades 2020, 2021 and 2022 of Dazhou integrated TCM & Western Medicine Hospital. They were randomly divided into experiment group (25) and control group (24). The experiment group adopted flipped classroom combined with problem-based learning teaching method, and the control group adopted traditional teaching method. The teaching content was 4 basic clinical skill projects, including four diagnoses of traditional Chinese Medicine, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, dressing change procedure, acupuncture and massage. The evaluation method was carried out by comparing the students’ performance and a self-designed questionnaire was used to investigate the students’ evaluation of the teaching method. Results: The test scores of total scores in the experimental group (90.12 ± 5.89) were all higher than those in the control group (81.47 ± 7.96) (t = 4.53, P P Conclusions: The teaching process of the flipped classroom combined with problem-based learning teaching method is conducive to improving the efficiency of classroom teaching, cultivating students’ self-learning ability, and enhancing students’ willingness to learn.

Implicit Learning and Explicit Learning in the Context of Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language By Analyzing the Textbook Kuaile Hanyu

With the rising status of China in the world in the economic, political and cultural aspects, Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language （TCFL） is becoming more and more prevalent across the world. Britain is the country where the Chinese is taught and learnt earlier than other Western countries. Take the students in Confucius Institute of Newcastle University in UK for example, due to the students＇ different backgrounds and also different ages and language foundations, whether the Chinese teaching materials can meet their motivations and needs is a problem worth further investigation by Chinese language teachers. Therefore, concerning the leamers＇ different ages and cognitive ability, this paper aims to analyze the textbook named Kuaile Hanyu （Happy Chinese） in terms of its advantages and disadvantages, in hope to evaluate whether it is appropriate to different learners and propose a few suggestions for the Chinese materials in the future. Simultaneously, fi＇om perspective of implicit learning and explicit learning, a tentative study is carried out on the influence of implicit and explicit leaming in TCFL context.

A Comparative Study of Classical Chinese Teaching in Junior High School about Analects of Confucius Chapter 12

“Analects of Confucius”is an important carrier of outstanding traditional culture of our country,and“The Ministry of Education”junior high school Chinese textbook seventh grade volume of the third unit of“<Analects>12 chapters”included 12 chapters as learning content.In the actual teaching,Xiao Pei-dong teacher teaching reading as self-reading,let the Analects of Confucius into the students’hearts.Mr.Xu Jie stimulates students’interest by reading Chinese teaching,teaching with culture and teaching in activities.Teacher Zhu Xingxiang guides students to use the method of mutual verification,to explore“the joy of learning”,“the joy of having friends”and“the joy of gentleman”,and to learn Confucius’s optimistic life attitude.The three teachers have different teaching methods,each with its own characteristics,but all reach the same destination,aiming at improving the core quality of students,which has important reference significance for the teaching of classical Chinese in junior high school under the new curriculum standard.

Analysis of the Online and Offline Hybrid Teaching of Traditional Chinese Medicine Classics

Distance education had sufficient technical capabilities before the novel coronavirus outbreak,but its advantages were not reflected in the normalized school running model.In the early stage of the pandemic,many students were affected and could not return to school.Many schools implemented online teaching to avoid delaying classes.After the alleviation of the pandemic,several colleges and universities taught students with a combination of online and offline methods after returning to school.The integration of online and offline teaching is conducive to the overall improvement of teaching quality in colleges and universities.This paper summarizes the shortcomings of the existing online and offline integrated education model in the teaching of traditional Chinese medicine classics in hope to further optimize the modem education system of traditional Chinese medicine courses.

Amazon Kindle for Teaching and Learning Chinese in China's Mainland

As a special milestone of reading revolution, Amazon Kindle has had great success in the market since 2010. This paper discusses its educational significance of teaching and learning Chinese based on a case study in some universities in China's Mainland, then analyzes its advantages and disadvantages comparing with not only the traditional reading media including paper-book, PC （Personal Computer）, mobile device, and others, but also some popular e-book readers such as Hanvon, Nook, or iBooks （iPad, iPod touch, and Macbook）, with especial interests on the compatibility of Chinese characters. Some important issues which comprise the resource, copyright, price, Chinesization, and interaction are discussed in the essay as well. Though it has not been widely accepted by the majority in China's Mainland, even less popular in the field of teaching Chinese, now it is worth paying attention. To catch up with the new technology tendency with its superiority, Amazon Kindle plays a more and more important role in teaching and learning Chinese and is changing the educational custom nowadays. A new look of paperless education prospect is to be anticipated in the consumption era.

Comparison of Chinese medicine higher education programs in China and five Western countries

Object:Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)has been taught widely in the both Eastern and Western world countries.This study compared the origin,student source,duration,and curriculum design of TCM higher education programs in China and five Western countries.Method:We searched the Internet and the China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI)database to gather relevant information.Result:All the six countries offer acupuncture and/or Chinese herbal medicine programs at universities and/or private schools.However,there are great large differences among them in the education of curriculum and TCM students enrollment and curriculum policies of TCM courses.Conclusions:There are large differences among their curriculum and enrollment policies.This comparison should provide information about the further development of international standards in TCM education.

Teaching Reform of “Nursing of Traditional Chinese Medicine” Course Based on OBE Concept

Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)nursing is one of the important disciplines in TCM.It is based on TCM theory and combined with modern nursing theory and technology,aiming to provide comprehensive and individualized nursing services.With the changes in the medical environment and the continuous improvement of people’s health needs,the teaching of TCM nursing is facing new challenges and opportunities.This paper aims to discuss the teaching reform of TCM nursing course based on the concept of outcome-based education(OBE)or student-centered teaching.The significance of this study is to provide theoretical basis and practical guidance for the teaching reform of TCM nursing course,and to promote the development and progress of TCM nursing education.Through the teaching reform based on OBE concept,we can better cultivate TCM nursing talents with innovative spirit and practical skills,and contribute to the development of TCM.

The Other Part of the Story —— Chinese Students at American Universities

Chinese intemational students studying at American universities are generally believed to be intelligent, hard-working and high score achieving, which are confirmed by many sources. People tend to believe that it is simply easy for Chinese students to excel academically at US universities, but this is not necessarily true, especially for students fresh from China. Based on a survey of Chinese students studying at US universities and interviews with American professors, this essay reveals Chinese students＇ academic frustrations and struggles that have been overlooked due to their high scores, and points out that it is the mismatch between Chinese and American teaching and learning styles that leads to this difficulty. Furthermore, this essay concludes with the author providing suggestions for both Chinese and American educators to help future Chinese students make the most of their higher education opportunity at American universities.

An Analysis of Lexical Errors in Chinese Senior One Students' English Writing

Lexical errors made by language learners frequently in the language learning process play a significant role in language teaching and learning. This paper, based on the theory of error analysis, mainly analyzes lexical errors made by Chinese senior one students in their writing and aims to find out the main types of lexical errors and the most frequent lexical errors in their writing. The results are of great significance and importance for language teaching and learning.

A Critical Analysis of Group Work in Chinese University EFL Classes

In the past few years,group activities have been warmly welcomed by EFL(English as a foreign language)classes in Chi-na,but few studies have discussed it from a critical perspective.Thus,this study explores from students’experiences what and whythe strengths and weaknesses of group work in actual contexts appear.The findings reveal that Chinese learners regard group workas an effective interactive activity for language,personal,and emotional development.However,the possible pitfalls,such as pseu-dogroups,unequal participation,groupthink,L1(first language)influence may prevent learners from obtaining the benefits of CL(collaborative learning).Finally,some suggestions are given,with the purpose of creating a more suitable facilitative EFL classroomenvironment for future Chinese EFL teaching and learning.

Sandwich联合CBL在中医内科专科护士临床带教的应用

目的观察Sandwich联合案例式教学法(CBL)在中医内科专科护士临床实践教学中的应用效果。方法将32名中医内科专科护士随机分为Sandwich联合CBL教学组(实验组)和讲授式教学法(LBL)组(对照组),各16名。在临床实践结束后,比较两组理论及技能操作成绩的差异性,并调查学员对临床教学效果的满意度。结果实验组的理论及技能操作成绩高于对照组,且病案分析题、中医四诊收集和辨证施护成绩显著优于对照组,差异有统计学意义(P<0.05)。与LBL教学法比较,绝大多数学员认为应用Sandwich联合CBL教学法更能提高自身辨证施护能力、组织协调能力、人际交往能力、思维批判能力以及科研创新能力。结论Sandwich联合CBL教学法更适合中医内科专科护士的临床带教,有利于提高学员的岗位胜任力。

基于超星学习通探讨中医基础理论教学模式改革

中医基础理论属于中医学专业基础课中的核心主干课程,是中医院校各专业学生学习中医药学其他各门基础课程和临床课程必修的专业基础理论课程。在传统教学模式下,该课程的重点、难点问题教学效果受限。因此辽宁中医药大学结合超星学习通平台,对中医基础理论教学模式进行改革,以提高学生学习兴趣、培养其自主学习能力并加深对教学内容的理解和掌握,提高了教学效果。

A Review of Research on Technology-Assisted Teaching and Learning of Chinese as a Second or Foreign Language from 2008 to 2018

More and more studies are examining the use of technology in the teaching of Mandarin Chinese as a second or foreign language(L2 Chinese).The current study involved a systematic review of the literature in the field published outside China from 2008 to 2018.A total of 33 studies met the inclusion criteria.The current review study aimed:(1)to examine the research topics and technologies used in the literature;(2)to identify the benefits of,and challenges involved in,the use of technologies in L2 Chinese teaching and learning;and(3)to suggest implications for practitioners and directions for further research.The review study provides educators and researchers with an overview of recent developments in this field,which could be helpful in informing teaching practice and further research.

The Teaching and Learning of Chinese as a Second or Foreign Language:The Current Situation and Future Directions

In this opening commentary,we highlight the development of the teaching and learning of Chinese as a second or foreign language(CSL/CFL),which has attracted much attention from researchers,language educators,and other stakeholders worldwide.To contribute to this ongoing examination and discussion,this special issue documents the collective efforts of scholars in different educational contexts to review six critical issues in teaching and learning CSL/CFL:learning and instruction of reading Chinese as an additional language,Chinese character teaching and learning,learner identity in CSL/CFL education,teaching and learning Chinese through immersion,technology assisted CSL/CFL teaching and learning,and mobile assisted learning CFL.We contend that all efforts to address these critical issues require constant examination to facilitate further development in CSL/CFL education around the world.

基于问卷分析不同年级医学生中医全科医学教学的现状

目的调查分析中医院校不同年级学生对中医全科医学概论的学习需求及认知情况,以指导中医全科医学概论的教学改革,为培养更多优秀的全科医生做准备。方法针对本科不同年级医学生发放调查问卷,数据结果使用SPSS 27.0软件分析。结果各年级学生均对中医全科医学概论的学习保持较大兴趣82.46%(188/228);对全科医学信息来源方面,大五学生更倾向于作为未来就业方向去了解,且占比明显高于大一学生(P<0.05);对全科医学内容渴求方面,大一学生的学习需求明显高于大四和大五学生(P<0.05);学习主动性方面,大一学生对学习全科医学知识的积极性明显高于其他两个年级(P<0.05)。结论作为专业必修课,全科医学的课程设置、教学大纲和教材内容应与时俱进,适应我国社会发展需要,以本为本,学做一体,教学改革在路上。

小学古诗词跨学科教学问题与策略

古诗词教学在提升小学生语文核心素养中发挥着重要作用,跨学科学习是小学古诗词教学的一种行之有效的方式。通过对广东省115名小学语文教师进行问卷调查,发现当前小学开展古诗词跨学科教学时存在如下问题:部分跨学科教学流于形式;教学形式单一,缺乏创新性;教学实施过程中脱离小学生学情。教师可通过熟悉跨学科学习任务群内容,明确把握跨学科学习的教学目标;多角度提升综合素养,创新跨学科教学形式;了解其他学科的课标内容,找准符合学情的跨学科教学关联点等策略,为小学古诗词跨学科教学提质增效。

中医经典与临床病例结合的教学方式在中医肿瘤科临床教学实践中的应用效果

目的探讨中医经典与临床病例结合的教学方式在中医肿瘤科临床教学实践中的应用效果。方法选择2021年5月至2022年3月每个周期来上海中医药大学附属普陀医院中医肿瘤科学习的108名医师为研究对象,根据教学方法的不同将其分为常规教学组和经典教学组,各54名。以肿瘤常见病症为课程试验对象,常规教学组应用常规内科学教学方式,经典教学组应用中医经典与临床病例结合的教学方式。比较两组的教学效果。结果经典教学组学生的学习主动性、临床思维能力、自主学习能力、小组合作学习能力及探究学习能力评分均高于常规教学组(P<0.05)。经典教学组学生对病症认识、中西医关联理解、方药认识、经典医籍认识、经典医籍兴趣、论文写作启发的熟悉度高于常规教学组(P<0.05);经典教学组教师对教学方法的熟悉度高于常规教学组(P<0.05)。结论中医经典与临床病例结合的教学方式在中医肿瘤科临床教学实践中的应用效果良好。

病例教学在中医儿科学专业生物化学课程中的设计与应用

生物化学对于中医药高等院校的师生来说是一门“难教”和“难学”的课程。教学内容和教学方式如何能更好满足人才培养的目标,提高学生学习本课程的兴趣和积极性是迫切需要解决的问题。可选择与学生专业相关的一些病例进行课程导入,引领学生主动学习、再由教师总结归纳。本文选择几个儿科疾病,运用于我校中医儿科学专业生物化学课程的教学。将枯燥、抽象的课程知识点与学生将来从事的专业岗位联系起来,以此提高学生学习的积极性,实现生物化学的教学目标和情感价值目标。
