Methods: The authors designed student questionnaires to investigate study weariness in 128 nurs-ing vocational college students. Results: Of the 128 students, 58 were tired of study, accounting for 45. 3%; 40 students often had weariness, accounting for 31. 3%; and 71 students had moderate or severe weariness, accounting for 55. 5%. Seventy-five students played on their mobile phone when they were tired of studying. Conclusions: The study weariness of vocational college students is a common phenomenon that has been developing rapidly. There are many factors that cause study weariness of professional college students. The students believe that the traditional teaching method is the main reason for study weariness. Reform of the teaching mode in a Nursing Basic Technology course effectively solved the learning problems of vocational college students. To conform to the college English teaching reform from English for General Purposes (EGP) to English for Academic Purposes (EAP) in the vital transfer era, the Foreign Language Department of Second Military Medical Un...To conform to the college English teaching reform from English for General Purposes (EGP) to English for Academic Purposes (EAP) in the vital transfer era, the Foreign Language Department of Second Military Medical University (SMMU) launched an English for Medical Academic Purpose (EMAP) curriculum with English Forum on Medical Humanities (EFMH), a project-based teaching practice. Based on Rogers' learner-centered humanistic teaching approach which emphasizes students' involvement and experiences in learning, EFMH puts students and their practice in a central place. After four-year exploration and operation, the Forum has developed from a small-scaled embryo into an internationalized, standardized and professionalized event, having produced fruitful outcomes. It is expected that the success of EFMH will provide inspiring experiences and enlightenments for higher medical education in terms of academic English teaching and teachers' responsibilities to foster high-quality medical students.展开更多

The present situation of China's higher education and the improvements required were analyzed. Two modes of thinking (reductionism and holism) and the relationship between the mode of thinking and the mode of development were discussed. The change in the mode of thinking is the key point for Chinese higher education, and more intensive reform of teaching affairs is necessary.
