The science of radio astronomy focuses on the observation and study of celestial objects by reading their radio waves. The 5 meter radio-telescope is able to observe different radio sources using a C-band LNB. This research was essentially focused on Crab Nebula, also known as Taurus A. The study led to interesting observations, which were validated numerically using various scientific computing software. The radio waves emitted by Taurus A are readable by the RTL-SDR, a software defined radio receiver. This device is capable of reading radio frequencies in the range of 0.5 MHZ to 1700 MHZ. 展开更多

In order to ensure the normal operation of radio astronomy observations,an extremely sensitive receiver system needs to be equipped in front of the large radio telescope.An 8-pole wideband high-temperature superconducting(HTS)filter using a Coplanar Spiral Resonator Structure with a passband of 1160~1670 MHz is developed to suppress strong radio interference.The filter is fabricated on a 36 mm×14 mm YBCO HTS film,which is deposited on a 0.5 mm thick MgO substrate.The minimum insertion loss measured in the liquid nitrogen temperature region is 0.03 dB,and the first parasitic passband appears at 2600 MHz.The measured results are in good agreement with the simulations.The filter can be used in radio telescope receivers for the observation of neutral hydrogen and pulsars,as well as in high-sensitivity satellite navigation instruments. 展开更多

This study develops an Enhanced Threshold Based Energy Detection approach(ETBED)for spectrum sensing in a cognitive radio network.The threshold identification method is implemented in the received signal at the secondary user based on the square law.The proposed method is implemented with the signal transmission of multiple outputs-orthogonal frequency division multiplexing.Additionally,the proposed method is considered the dynamic detection threshold adjustments and energy identification spectrum sensing technique in cognitive radio systems.In the dynamic threshold,the signal ratio-based threshold is fixed.The threshold is computed by considering the Modified Black Widow Optimization Algorithm(MBWO).So,the proposed methodology is a combination of dynamic threshold detection and MBWO.The general threshold-based detection technique has different limitations such as the inability optimal signal threshold for determining the presence of the primary user signal.These limitations undermine the sensing accuracy of the energy identification technique.Hence,the ETBED technique is developed to enhance the energy efficiency of cognitive radio networks.The projected approach is executed and analyzed with performance and comparison analysis.The proposed method is contrasted with the conventional techniques of theWhale Optimization Algorithm(WOA)and GreyWolf Optimization(GWO).It indicated superior results,achieving a high average throughput of 2.2 Mbps and an energy efficiency of 3.8,outperforming conventional techniques. 展开更多

One of the main requirements of cognitive radio systems is the ability to reliably detect the spectrum hole. Previous works on the problem of detection for cognitive radio have suggested the necessity of user cooperation to enable the detection at the low signal-to-noise ratios experienced in practical situations. This paper introduces energy sensing and the cooperative sensing techniques: AND model, OR model, counting model, double threshold model, likelihood ratio model, linear cooperation model and DWCS model. It is proved that significant cooperative gain can be achieved by the proposed models in reducing interference and improving spectrum usage. 展开更多

Since hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)represents an important cause of mortality and morbidity all over the world.Currently,it is fundamental not only to achieve a curative treatment but also to manage in the best way any possible recurrence.Even if the latest update of the Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer guidelines for HCC treatment has introduced new locoregional techniques and confirmed others as well-established clinical practices,there is still no consensus about the treatment of recurrent HCC(RHCC).Locoregional treatments and medical therapy represent two of the most widely accepted approaches for disease control,especially in the advanced stage of liver disease.Different medical treatments are now approved,and others are under investigation.On this basis,radiology plays a central role in the diagnosis of RHCC and the assessment of response to locoregional treatments and medical therapy for RHCC.This review summarized the actual clinical practice by underlining the importance of the radiological approach both in the diagnosis and treatment of RHCC. 展开更多

火星是地球的姊妹星,研究火星对了解火星、地球乃至太阳系的演化具有重要意义.自从1964年美国水手4号发射,首次成功地运用无线电掩星技术探知到火星的环境特征之后,国际上不少的火星任务都开展了掩星实验,取得了重要进展.本文依据采用... 火星是地球的姊妹星,研究火星对了解火星、地球乃至太阳系的演化具有重要意义.自从1964年美国水手4号发射,首次成功地运用无线电掩星技术探知到火星的环境特征之后,国际上不少的火星任务都开展了掩星实验,取得了重要进展.本文依据采用了无线电掩星技术进行勘探的火星探测器发射时间顺序展开调研,针对具有开创性的水手系列、火星全球勘测者、火星快车、火星大气挥发演化探测器、天问一号等,梳理分析和总结了各任务的火星无线电掩星方式以及所获取的廓线数量、位置分布、获取方式等产品信息,以及部分相关的研究结果.本文还分析了当前火星无线电掩星探测方式存在的局限性,并探讨了可能的对策.火星无线电掩星后续可重点考虑多颗星-星掩星结合星-地掩星方式形成掩星星座;并通过选用适当的信号探测频率、改进反演算法等方式进一步提高掩星质量;火星掩星探测手段还可与火星顶部探测雷达、直接探测等手段相结合,发展火星多源数据融合技术.随着探测方式的不断改进,无线电掩星探测将是火星探测的重要手段.未来会有数量越来越多、时间与空间覆盖越来越全面、精度越来越高的掩星数据用于火星的整个空间环境研究,包括大、中尺度乃至小尺度结构的特征与演化规律都将被人类掌握. 展开更多

The simulation of radio frequency interference(RFI) cancellation by applying a spatial filtering technique for phased array feed(PAF) is presented. In order to better reflect the characteristics of PAF, a new signal model is to add the coupling coefficient among elements of PAF to the conventional array signal model. Then the subspace projection(SP) algorithm is used to cancel RFI from the correlation matrix of the signal, and finally, the 2D power image is drawn. The power variation of signal-of-interest direction and RFI direction before and after using the SP algorithm is analyzed. The new signal model and simulation strategy can be used to test and verify the beamformer. 展开更多

Development of a Front End Array for Broadband Phased Array Receiver

The receiver is a signal receiving device placed at the focus of the telescope.In order to improve the observation efficiency,the concept of phased array receiver has been proposed in recent years,which places a small phased array at the focal plane of the reflector,and flexible pattern and beam scanning functions can be achieved through a beamforming network.If combined with the element multiplexing,all beams within the entire field of view can be observed simultaneously to achieve continuous sky coverage.This article focuses on the front-end array of phased array receiver at 0.7-1.8 GHz for QiTai Telescope,and designs a Vivaldi antenna array of PCB structure with dual line polarization.Each polarization antenna is designed to arrange in a rectangle manner by 11×10.Based on the simulation results of the focal field,32,18,and eight elements were selected to form one beam at 0.7,1.25,and1.8 GHz.An analog beamforming network was constructed,and the measured gains of axial beam under uniform weighting were 19.32,13.72,and 15.22 dBi.Combining the beam scanning method of reflector antenna,the pattern test of different position element sets required for PAF beam scanning was carried out under independent array.The pattern optimization at 1.25 GHz was carried out by weighting method of conjugate field matching.Compared with uniform weighting,the gain,sidelobe level,and main beam direction under conjugate field matching have been improved.Although the above test and simulation results are slightly different,which is related to the passive array and laboratory testing condition,the relevant work has accumulated experience in the development of the front-end array for the phased array receiver,and has good guiding significance for future performance verification after the array is installed on the telescope. 展开更多

Active surface technique is one of the key technologies to ensure the reflector accuracy of the millimeter/submillimeter wave large reflector antenna.The antenna is complex,large-scale,and high-precision equipment,and its active surfaces are affected by various factors that are difficult to comprehensively deal with.In this paper,based on the advantage of the deep learning method that can be improved through data learning,we propose the active adjustment value analysis method of large reflector antenna based on deep learning.This method constructs a neural network model for antenna active adjustment analysis in view of the fact that a large reflector antenna consists of multiple panels spliced together.Based on the constraint that a single actuator has to support multiple panels(usually 4),an autonomously learned neural network emphasis layer module is designed to enhance the adaptability of the active adjustment neural network model.The classical 8-meter antenna is used as a case study,the actuators have a mean adjustment error of 0.00252 mm,and the corresponding antenna surface error is0.00523 mm.This active adjustment result shows the effectiveness of the method in this paper. 展开更多

A new digital receiver with excellent performances has been designed and developed for solar radio observation,which can receive the radio signal from direct current(DC)to 9 GHz in the direct acquisition way.On the digital receiver,the analog-to-digital converter(ADC)with 14-bit,two input channels and 3 Giga Samples per second(Gsps)are used to acquire observed signal,and the field-programmable-gate-array chip XCKU115 acts as the processing module.The new digital receiver can be used to directly sample the solar radio signals of frequency under 9 GHz.When receiving the solar radio signal above 9 GHz,the new digital receiver can save 1–2 stages of frequency down-conversion,and effectively improve many indexes of the solar radio observation system,i.e.,the time resolution,analog front-end circuit,weight and volume of the analog circuit system.Compared with the digital receiver with sampling rate below 1 Gsps used in existing solar radio telescope,the new digital receiver reduces the frequency switching times of large bandwidth,which is beneficial to improving the frequency and time resolutions.The ADC sampling resolution of 14 bits,providing a large dynamic range,is very beneficial to observing smaller solar eruptions.This receiver,which would be used in the solar radio observation system,well meets the latest requirements with the resolutions of time(≤1 ms)and frequency(≤0.5 MHz)for fine observation of radio signals. 展开更多

Observation and research on solar radio emission have unique scientific values in solar and space physics and related space weather forecasting applications, since the observed spectral structures may carry important information about energetic electrons and underlying physical mechanisms. In this study, we present the design of a novel dynamic spectrograph that has been installed at the Chashan Solar Radio Observatory operated by the Laboratory for Radio Technologies, Institute of Space Sciences at Shandong University. The spectrograph is characterized by real-time storage of digitized radio intensity data in the time domain and its capability to perform off-line spectral analysis of the radio spectra. The analog signals received via antennas and amplified with a low-noise amplifier are converted into digital data at a speed reaching up to 32 k data points per millisecond. The digital data are then saved into a high- speed electronic disk for further off-line spectral analysis. Using different word lengths (1-32k) and time cadences (5 ms-10 s) for off-line fast Fourier transform analysis, we can obtain the dynamic spectrum of a radio burst with different (user-defined) temporal (5 ms-10 s) and spectral (3 kHz-320kHz) resolutions. This enables great flexibility and convenience in data analysis of solar radio bursts, especially when some specific fine spectral structures are under study. 展开更多

The detection range of targets with a fixed radar cross section and the detection ability of small space debris at a fixed range are discussed. The simulations of this particular observation system at different transmitting powers are also implemented and the detection capability is discussed. The simulated results approximately match the actual experiments. The analysis in this paper provides a theoretical basis for developing a space debris observation system that can be built in China. 展开更多

The influence of pulse repetition frequency(PRF) on performance of wireless digital time hopping spread spectrum(THSS) ultrawide bandwidth(UWB) radio systems with PPM in dense multipath fading environments is firstly investigated. The receiver used in this UWB system is a hybrid selection/maximal-ratio combining(H-S/MRC) diversity receiver in which L strongest multipath components out of N multipath diversity branches are selected and combined using maximal-ratio combining. The exact expressions for the bit error rate(BER) of this UWB system are firstly derived by using the virtual branch technique in term of PRF, the number of multipath components selected and combined L, and multipath spread of the channel and then this BER performance is evaluated. With the computer simulation for impulses having different pulse shapes, numerical results show that PRF, as well as pulse shape and the number of multipath diversity branches selected and combined L, has much effect on the BER performance of this UWB system in dense multipath fading environments. As PRF increases, the BER performance of this UWB system is much degraded under the conditions of fixed L and pulse shape. 展开更多

The search for fast radio bursts(FRBs) is a hot topic in current radio astronomy studies. In this work, we carry out a single pulse search with a very long baseline interferometry(VLBI) pulsar observation data set using both auto spectrum and cross spectrum search methods. The cross spectrum method,first proposed in Liu et al., maximizes the signal power by fully utilizing the fringe phase information of the baseline cross spectrum. The auto spectrum search method is based on the popular pulsar software package PRESTO, which extracts single pulses from the auto spectrum of each station. According to our comparison, the cross spectrum method is able to enhance the signal power and therefore extract single pulses from data contaminated by high levels of radio frequency interference(RFI), which makes it possible to carry out a search for FRBs in regular VLBI observations when RFI is present. 展开更多

The self-weight of a large fully-steerable radio telescope is one of the important factors affecting its performance.In the existing reflector system scheme,the problem of surface accuracy caused by its large and heavy structure has seriously restricted the application and implementation of large radio telescopes.Therefore,a new mesh structure scheme for a large fully-steerable radio telescope reflector is proposed in this paper.This scheme is based on a homogenized mesh back-up structure in the form of a quasi-geodesic grid and regular quasi-tri-prism or tetrahedron,which can significantly reduce the structural complexity and self-weight of the reflector under the condition that the reflector can meet the desired performance requirements.Finally,the feasibility and rationality of the scheme are evaluated by numerical simulation analysis,which has significant advantages and provides a new design for the reflector of a large fullysteerable radio telescope. 展开更多

Radio frequency interference(RFI)will pollute the weak astronomical signals received by radio telescopes,which in return will seriously affect the time-domain astronomical observation and research.In this paper,we use a deep learning method to identify RFI in frequency spectrum data,and propose a neural network based on Unet that combines the principles of depthwise separable convolution and residual,named DSC Based Dual-Resunet.Compared with the existing Unet network,DSC Based Dual-Resunet performs better in terms of accuracy,F1 score,and MIoU,and is also better in terms of computation cost where the model size and parameter amount are 12.5%of Unet and the amount of computation is 38%of Unet.The experimental results show that the proposed network is a high-performance and lightweight network,and it is hopeful to be applied to RFI identification of radio telescopes on a large scale. 展开更多

The effective observation of burst events in solar radio research has been impeded by various interference signals,especially interference signals with a wide frequency range and high intensity,as they can partially or completely obscure the observation of burst events.Image processing methods that directly remove the interference signal channels and subtract the average of the interference signal channel are not suitable for processing all types of interference signals.This paper proposes the use of a specific kind of recurrent neural networks,called long short-term memory networks,to predict the value of the radio frequency interference signals with high intensity of the burst event in the solar radio spectrum.The predicted interference can then be removed in accordance with the principle that signals can be linearly added.Therefore,predicted value is subtracted from the data containing the burst event signals and the RFI signals(The radio frequency interference signals to be processed in this article refer to the signal of the broadcast signal that can be received in the frequency range,the signal transmitted by the mobile phone,and the signal transmitted by the sea vessel,and the like)to remove the interference.Then,in order to reduce the error caused by the stepwise prediction in the network and further improve the prediction accuracy,this paper analyzes the characteristics of the value of the radio interference and applies the digital mapping method to convert the prediction problem into the classification problem in the time series.The experimental results show that the proposed method can effectively remove the radio interference in the solar spectrum and clearly show the burst events. 展开更多
