As a passive anti-icing strategy,properly designed superhydrophobic coatings can demonstrate outstanding performances.However,common preparation strategies for superhydrophobic coatings often lead to environmental pol...As a passive anti-icing strategy,properly designed superhydrophobic coatings can demonstrate outstanding performances.However,common preparation strategies for superhydrophobic coatings often lead to environmental pollution,high energy-consumption,high-cost and other undesirable issues.Besides,the durability of superhydrophobic coating also plagues its commercial application.In this paper,we introduced a facile and environment-friendly technique for fabricating abrasion-resistant superhydrophobic surfaces using thermoplastic polyurethane(TPU)and modified SiO_(2)particles(SH-SiO_(2)).Both materials are non-toxicity,low-cost,and commercial available.Our methodology has the following advantages:use of minimal amounts of formulation,take the most streamlined technical route,and no waste material.These advantages make it attractive for industrial applications,and its usage sustainability can be promised.In this study,the mechanical stability of the superhydrophobic surface was evaluated by linear wear test.It is found that the excellent wear resistance of the superhydrophobic coating benefits from the characteristics of raw materials,the preparation strategy,and the special structure.In anti-icing properties test,the TPU/SH-SiO_(2)coating exhibits the repellency to the cold droplets and the ability to extend the freezing time.The electrochemical corrosion measurement shows that the asprepared superhydrophobic surface has excellent corrosion resistance that can provide effective protection for the bare Q235 substrates.These results indicate that the TPU/SH-SiO_(2)coating possesses good abrasion resistance and has great potential in anti-corrosion and anti-icing applications.展开更多

It is obvious that these traditional cathodic disbondment tests (CDT) have some disadvantages and the evaluated results are only simple figures and always rely on the subjective experience of the operator. A new electrochemical method for evaluating the RCD of coatings, that is, the potentiostatic evaluation method (PEM), was developed and studied. During potentiostatic anodic polarization testing, the changes of stable polarization current of specimens before and after cathodic disbonding (CD) were measured, and the degree of cathodic disbondment of the coating was quantitatively evaluated, among which the equivalent cathodic disbonded distance AD was suggested as a parameter for evaluating the RCD. The phase structure and morphology of the gradated coating were analyzed by means of X-ray diffractometry(XRD) and scanning electron microscopy(SEM). The high temperature oxidation resistance of the plasma sprayed samples at 800 ℃ was investigated. The oxidation kinetics curve was obtained. The results show that the thickness of gradated coating is about 410 μm. The plasma sprayed gradated coating on stainless steel surface can improve the high temperature oxidation resistance of stainless steel. The oxidation rate of stainless steel is less than that of plasma sprayed gradated coating. The oxidation film of plasma sprayed sample is very dense and is not easily exfoliated. This technique applied mechanical vibration to a retort, which was loaded with pack-alumin...A method was presented to prepare aluminide coatings on metals by combining the pack aluminizing with the ball impact process. This technique applied mechanical vibration to a retort, which was loaded with pack-aluminizing powder, specimens and alloy balls. Pack aluminizing was carried out with repeated ball impact, which accelerated chemical reactions and atomic diffusion. Aluminide coatings were formed at a relatively lower temperature (below 600 ℃) and in a shorter treatment time, compared with the conventional pack aluminizing. The effects of the operation temperature and the treatment time on the formation of the coatings were analysed. The SEM, EDS and XRD analysis results show that the aluminide coatings appear to be homogeneous, with a high density and free of porosity, and have excellent adherence to the substrate. The coatings mainly consist of Al-rich phases such as η-Fe2Al5, θ-FeAl3 and ?CrAl5. Oxidation resistance was studied by high-temperature tests. The formation mechanism of the Al-coatings was also investigated. This technique provides a new approach for industrial diffusion coatings with great energy and time savings.展开更多

The structure, compositions and phase distribution of the coating and the relationship between these features and the oxidation resistance of the coating were investigated by SEM, EDS and XRD. The results indicate that the interface between the coating and the substrate has metallurgic combination, and a transitional layer is formed by diffusion. The multi-layer structure improves the oxidation resistance of the coating. The method of slurry firing to prepare the high-temperature MoSi2 coating on Nb is feasible. The SiO2 scale, which is formed on the surface of the coating by the self-oxidation of MoSi2, prevents the further diffusion of oxygen.展开更多

The hardness, bonding strength, abrasive wear and values of porosity and oxidation resistance of the coating were investigated. The microstructures and function of Cr3C2 of the coating were analyzed. The results showed surface Rockness Hardness HR30 reached 72.5 and average bond strength reached 49.1Mpa. Also porosity value was less than 2%. In addition, it was found from the comparison between the coating and 45CT coating that, oxidation resistance of the coating was less than that of 45CT, but the abrasive wear of the coating was obvious better than that of 45CT.展开更多

Microstructure and hig...To improve the oxidation resistance and corrosion resistance of Zr-4 alloy, titanium nitride(TiN) coatings were prepared on the Zr-4 alloy with a TiN ceramic target with different ratios of N_2. Microstructure and high-temperature properties of the TiN coated samples were studied by scanning electron microscopy(SEM), energy dispersive spectrometer(EDS), X-ray diffraction meter(XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS), heat treatment furnace and autoclaves, respectively. The x value of the TiN coatings(TiN_x) ranges from 0.96 to 1.33. After the introduction of N_2, TiN coating exhibits a weak(200) plane and a preferred(111) orientation. The coating prepared with an N_2 flow ratio of 15% shows an optimal oxidation resistance in the atmospheric environment at 800 °C. In either 1 200 °C steam environment for one hour, or deionized water at 360 °C and a pressure of 18.6 Mpa for 16 d, the opitimized TiN coated samples have no delamination or spallation; and the gains in the masses of samples are much smaller than Zr-4 alloy. These results demonstrate the effectiveness of the optimized TiN coating as the protective coating on the Zr-4 alloy under extreme conditons.展开更多

The results show that tungsten and phosphorus can be co-deposited with nickel in type of ...The -pH diagram of Ni-W-P-H2O system at 298.15 K,10 1325 Pa was plotted by thermodynamic calculation software FactSageTM 5.1. The results show that tungsten and phosphorus can be co-deposited with nickel in type of Ni4W,Ni3P,Ni5P2,respectively. XRD analysis shows that the main phase of RE-Ni-W-P-B4C coatings is amorphous as deposited. After heated at 673 K for 3 h,part phases change to crystalline which are Ni,Ni3P,P,W,Ni3C,Ni3B,CeO2. SEM shows the micrograph of the coatings is even and the solid particles scatter well. The thickness of the coating is 2 219 μm after electroplating for 96 h. The micro-hardness of the coatings is HV 825-HV 1 097 as-deposited and increases to HV 1 236 after heat treated. The wear resistance of the coatings is good and the friction coefficient changes from 0.10 to 0.33 during the abrasion process. The resistance to oxidation of the composite coatings is better than Ni-W-P alloy coatings and worse than that of RE-Ni-W-P-SiC coatings.展开更多
