An improved method for calculating the surface tension based on the level set approach is proposed, in which the contribution of not only the center node but also the rest area of a control volume to the calculation of surface tension is considered in a balanced manner. The weighted integration method (WIM) is more consistent with the concept of a banded in- terface in the level set method. It is applied to the temporal evolution of a two-dimensional neutrally buoyant liquid drop and a buoyancy driven deformable bubble in an immiscible fluid for the validation of WIM. The results show that the parasitic flows are evidently suppressed by the weighted integration method. The weight factors for WIM in 3-D cases are also suggested.展开更多

The nonlinear restoring stiffness is derived with the set-down motion of a floating body and the coupled motion of the tension leg and platform and the differential equations of the motion are established. The study focuses on the influence of the set-down motion on the nonlinear response of the platform. By considering different significant wave heights and currents, motion responses of the platform are calculated and compared. The analysis shows that the set-down motion significantly increases the heave motion with low frequency and the equilibrium position of the heave motion with the set-down motion is much lower than that without set-down motion. The results in this paper indicate that the set-down motion has a major impact on the safety of the platform inproduction operation, and it is also a threat to the strength of tension legs and risers.展开更多

In the tension-free hernia repair surgery, polypropylene (PP) patch has been confirmed as the most popular surgical implants. In this study, domestic medical PP monofilament was selected as raw material whose diameter was 0.15 mm, and the patch was knitted in the warp knitting machine of 12E gauge with one bar. Using the method of orthogonal experiment with three factors and three levels, the best heat-setting process of PP mesh was determined at the temperature of 130 ~C with 10 min under tension-free conditions. The relationship between heat-setting tension and performance of the patch was discussed. Patches with different porosity were prepared, and then structural parameters including density, thickness, porosity, and mechanical properties including tensile breaking strength, bursting strength, tearing strength, flexural rigidity and suture pulling out strength were tested and compared. The experimental results show that: the smaller of the patch's density, the higher of the porosity; other properties including density, thickness, bending stiffness, tensile breaking strength, bursting strength, tear strength, and suture pulling out strength reduce in varying degrees. This different degree of reduction is worth summarizing.展开更多
