The stratigraphic records of these proxies have shown that during the last 35 ka the Okinawa Trough has gone through 7 stronger cold-climate events (C1–C7) and 9 terrigenous matter-decreasing events (e2–e9), of which, the C1 corresponds to the cold episode occurring in the middle late Holocene, C2–C4 and C7 correspond to the H1–H4 events, respectively. e1 and e3–e8 correspond to the decrease of sea surface temperature (SST), respectively. The terrigenous inputs increased when Heinrich events occurred. Climate colding resulted in the decrease of terrigenous matter transported by rivers, and the increase of that transported by winter monsoon. Heinrich events are closely related to East Asia monsoon. During the Last Glacial Maximum (LGM, 15.5–25.8 Cal ka BP), reduction environment fluctuated strongly, bringing forth three stronger reduction events (R1–R3) and one weaker reduction event (O), of which, R1–R3 correspond to the decrease of SST and increase of terrigenous nutrient and O corresponds to the decrease of terrigenous nutrient. The fluctuation of reduction condition must be related to the change of sea surface productivity.展开更多

These compounds are similar to oleanane in the structure, and their relative abundance in m/z 191 partial mass cbromatogram has a good correlation with oleanane. Here compounds X and Y are considered to be derived from the des-A degradation of oleanoid precursor. The ratio of X/(X-I-C24) and Y/(Y-I-C24) increase with the increasing inputs of terrigenous organic matter in crude oils. Wenchang Formation middle-deep lacustrine source rocks with planktonic algae organic matter inputs and oil generating from it contain low abundance of compounds X and Y, while Enping Formation coal measures source rocks with terrigenous higher plants organic matter inputs and oil generating from it usually have higher compounds X and Y. In general when two terrigenous compounds C19 tricyclic terpane and bicadinane-T are high in crude oils, there are also a corresponding high abundant compounds X and Y. Relative abundance of compounds X and Y is closely related to the source of organic matter and it can indicate the input of terrigenous organic matter.展开更多

The hydroxyl location and length of the carbon chain of this newly discovered triol differ from those of 1,20,21-C29 triol. The test results of its molecular distribution and individual carbon isotope reveal that 1,3,4-C29triol has a good correlation with n-C26-30 even carbon-numbered long-chain fatty alcohols, with R2 (n=68) values of 0.905, 0.929 and 0.903, respectively, and its carbon isotope composition, at -32.3%o_1.9%o, is similar to that of rt-C26.30, at -29.13%o^0.87%o, -32.98%o^1.28%o, and -32.98%o^1.28%o. 1,3,4-C29 triol from the Site4B core sediment and terrigenous long-chain fatty alcohol (n-C26.34) show highly consistent distribution trends in the entire section; thus, the former could serve as a proxy indicator of the terrigenous input. Considering that the 1,20,21-C29 triol in previous research belongs to Azolla, which are fresh water pteridophytes, the 1,3,4-C27-29 triol identified in this study might have similar biogenetic derivation. Thus, determination of its biogenic area and growing environment could provide potential organic geochemical evidence supporting the terrigenous input and source in the northern South China Sea.展开更多
