Background:Degradable magnesium implants are promising for clinical fracture treatment,providing less stress-shielding mechanical support and superior bone-strengthening benefits to traditional materials.The quality o...Background:Degradable magnesium implants are promising for clinical fracture treatment,providing less stress-shielding mechanical support and superior bone-strengthening benefits to traditional materials.The quality of preclinical research is essential for developing Mg implants;however,there are considerable variations in the model selection and study design in published studies,posing challenges for safe and effective clinical translation of lab discoveries.Objective:The purpose of this systematic review is to investigate the current progress on in vivo research of Mg implants for fracture treatment,focusing on model selection,Mg materials,implant design,methodological and analyzing techniques,aiming to provide comprehensive guidance for future preclinical research.Materials and methods:Pub Med and Embase online databases were searched to identify researches investigating Mg implants in animal models of fracture from 1960 to December 2019,using a combination of keywords:magnesium and fracture.Eligible studies were included without language restriction.Data extraction was conducted for qualitative analysis.Meta-analysis was not performed due to extensive heterogeneities among studies.Results:Twenty studies published from 2014 to 2019 were included.Publication information,animal model,methodological quality,implants preparation,and evaluation techniques were extracted.The methodological assessment revealed low to high risk of bias among studies.Both rodent and non-rodent species were selected,and the anatomical sites for inducing fractures included both cranial-facial and limb bones.Pure Mg and alloys with or without surface modification were evaluated,covering implant designs of both intra-medullary and extra-medullary fixation.Radiological and histological evaluations were commonly conducted.Conclusions:Published in vivo evidence confirmed the role of Mg-based implants in promoting fracture healing.However,considering heterogeneity in animal selection,implant preparation,and evaluation methods,there still lacks a standardized reference model.By analyzing the information extracted from included studies,the systematic review may facilitate planning and conducting preclinical research with translational perspective.展开更多

Methods and Results: The data from participants (n = 3516;2056 women) aged 45 to 74 years and the diabetes risk prediction model from Strong Heart Study were used. The Strong Heart Study is a population-based cohort study of cardiovascular disease and its risk factors in American Indians. A conceptual group/community disease prevention design strategy based on large cohort data was initiated. The application of the proposed strategy for group diabetes prevention was illustrated. Discussion: The strategy may provide reasonable solutions to the prevention design issues. These issues include complex associations of a disease with its combined and correlated risk factors, individual differences, choosing intervention risk factors and setting their appropriate, attainable, gradual and adaptive goal levels for different subgroups, and assessing effectiveness of the prevention program. Conclusions: The strategy and methods shown in the illustration example can be analogously adopted and applied for other diseases preventions. In this paper, through the comparison of flow design and cross section design of agricultural canal design in ecological land remediation and traditional land remediation, the characteristic design of some agricultural canals in ecological land remediation was introduced, and the ecological, social and economic benefits of two land remediation methods were systematically analyzed. The analysis shows that ecological agricultural canals play a great role in protecting biodiversity, alleviating the contradiction between people and land, saving energy, purifying water resources and improving land quality, the research result has provided the basis and the model for the land consolidation in carrying on the ecology type ditch design.展开更多
BACKGROUND The pontic design of fixed dental prostheses(FDPs)is strongly associated with the phonetic function,and the phonetic function of anterior FDPs with different pontic designs remains understudied.AIM To inves...BACKGROUND The pontic design of fixed dental prostheses(FDPs)is strongly associated with the phonetic function,and the phonetic function of anterior FDPs with different pontic designs remains understudied.AIM To investigate the immediate and short-term influence of pontic design of anterior FDPs on Chinese speech in a clinical case using objective acoustic analysis.METHODS Two FDPs with two types of pontic design(saddle pontic and modified ridge lap pontic)were fabricated for one patient with maxillary anterior teeth missing.The acoustic analysis of patient’s articulation was conducted immediately after wearing the FDPs and 1 wk after wearing these FDPs.RESULTS The effect of FDP on Chinese vowels(/a/,/o/,/e/,/i/,/u/,and/ü/)was insignificant,because the recovery of vowel distortion occurred within 1 wk for both FDPs.Three(/f/,/s/,and/sh/)of eight Chinese fricative consonants were found to have obvious distortions,and the/s/sound distortion last for more than 1 wk for the patient wearing FDP with modified ridge lap pontic design.CONCLUSION The influence of anterior FDP on articulation of Chinese vowels is insignificant,while the articulation of Chinese fricative consonants is more susceptible.When fabricating anterior FDPs for patients with speech related professions,saddle pontic design can be an alternative option compared with modified ridge lap pontic design.展开更多
This research provides an exploration of a biomimetic approach in the process of designing a candelabra model using linear shaped leaves of a Bell flower.The design process described in this research contains two step...This research provides an exploration of a biomimetic approach in the process of designing a candelabra model using linear shaped leaves of a Bell flower.The design process described in this research contains two steps:biological and geometrical.In the first biological step,a proper model for the creation of an urban element was found from nature in a Bell flower(Campanula persicifolia L.).The upper leaves of the selected plant,which are small with a linear spear and sharpening at the top,were chosen for the modeling process.The second step included applying two geometrical methods,i.e.,Voronoi diagrams and Delaunay triangulation.A geometrical leaf form of the selected plant species and the modeling process were obtained using aparametric modeling software,Blender.Using different Blender plug-ins and modifiers,Delaunay triangulation and Voronoi diagram were implemented by marking the starting points on the leaf form in the image data source,adjusting the Delaunay triangulation parameters,and creating Voronoi diagrams in which the Voronoi points were located at the shortest distance from the edges of the Voronoi polygon.Consequently,a three dimensional model of a candelabra was developed through this study.展开更多

Despite the efficacy of imatinib therapy in chronic myelogenous leukemia, the development of drug-resistant Abl mutants, especially the most difficult overcoming T3151 mutant, makes the search for new Abl T3151 inhibi...Despite the efficacy of imatinib therapy in chronic myelogenous leukemia, the development of drug-resistant Abl mutants, especially the most difficult overcoming T3151 mutant, makes the search for new Abl T3151 inhibitors a very interesting challenge in medicinal chem- istry. In this work, a multistep computational framework combining the three dimensional quantitative structure-activity relationship (3D-QSAR), molecular docking, molecular dy- namics (MD) simulation and binding free energy calculation, was performed to explore the structural requirements for the Abl T315I activities of benzimidazole/benzothiazole derivatives and the binding mechanism between the inhibitors and Abl T315I. The established 3D-QSAR models exhibited satisfactory internal and external predictability. Docking study elucidated the comformations of compounds and the key amino acid residues at the binding pocket, which were confirmed by MD simulation. The binding free energies correlated well with the experimental activities. The MM-GBSA energy decomposition revealed that the van der Waals interaction was the major driving force for the interaction between the ligands and Abl T3151. The hydrogen bond interactions between the inhibitors and Met318 also played an important role in stablizing the binding of compounds to Abl T315I. Finally, four new compounds with rather high Abl T3151 activities were designed and presented to experimenters for reference.展开更多

These issues include complex associations of a disease with its significant risk factors, cost-effectively selecting individuals at high risk of developing disease to undergo intervention, individual differences in health conditions, choosing intervention risk factors and setting their appropriate, attainable, gradual and adaptive goal levels for different subgroups, and assessing effectiveness of the prevention program. Conclusions: The strategy and methods shown in the illustrative example can also be analogously adopted and applied to other diseases preventions. The proposed strategy provides a way to translate and apply epidemiological study results to clinical disease prevention practice.
文摘In the current context of vigorously promoting the construction of ecological civilization, land consolidation in the construction of the constant pursuit of ecological design, to achieve sustainable use of land resources, China has made great progress in ecological land consolidation. In this paper, through the comparison of flow design and cross section design of agricultural canal design in ecological land remediation and traditional land remediation, the characteristic design of some agricultural canals in ecological land remediation was introduced, and the ecological, social and economic benefits of two land remediation methods were systematically analyzed. The analysis shows that ecological agricultural canals play a great role in protecting biodiversity, alleviating the contradiction between people and land, saving energy, purifying water resources and improving land quality, the research result has provided the basis and the model for the land consolidation in carrying on the ecology type ditch design.

文摘BACKGROUND The pontic design of fixed dental prostheses(FDPs)is strongly associated with the phonetic function,and the phonetic function of anterior FDPs with different pontic designs remains understudied.AIM To investigate the immediate and short-term influence of pontic design of anterior FDPs on Chinese speech in a clinical case using objective acoustic analysis.METHODS Two FDPs with two types of pontic design(saddle pontic and modified ridge lap pontic)were fabricated for one patient with maxillary anterior teeth missing.The acoustic analysis of patient’s articulation was conducted immediately after wearing the FDPs and 1 wk after wearing these FDPs.RESULTS The effect of FDP on Chinese vowels(/a/,/o/,/e/,/i/,/u/,and/ü/)was insignificant,because the recovery of vowel distortion occurred within 1 wk for both FDPs.Three(/f/,/s/,and/sh/)of eight Chinese fricative consonants were found to have obvious distortions,and the/s/sound distortion last for more than 1 wk for the patient wearing FDP with modified ridge lap pontic design.CONCLUSION The influence of anterior FDP on articulation of Chinese vowels is insignificant,while the articulation of Chinese fricative consonants is more susceptible.When fabricating anterior FDPs for patients with speech related professions,saddle pontic design can be an alternative option compared with modified ridge lap pontic design.

文摘This research provides an exploration of a biomimetic approach in the process of designing a candelabra model using linear shaped leaves of a Bell flower.The design process described in this research contains two steps:biological and geometrical.In the first biological step,a proper model for the creation of an urban element was found from nature in a Bell flower(Campanula persicifolia L.).The upper leaves of the selected plant,which are small with a linear spear and sharpening at the top,were chosen for the modeling process.The second step included applying two geometrical methods,i.e.,Voronoi diagrams and Delaunay triangulation.A geometrical leaf form of the selected plant species and the modeling process were obtained using aparametric modeling software,Blender.Using different Blender plug-ins and modifiers,Delaunay triangulation and Voronoi diagram were implemented by marking the starting points on the leaf form in the image data source,adjusting the Delaunay triangulation parameters,and creating Voronoi diagrams in which the Voronoi points were located at the shortest distance from the edges of the Voronoi polygon.Consequently,a three dimensional model of a candelabra was developed through this study.

Materialized mostly graphic image symbols, and mostly flat graphic indicator; flat screen symbol by the proposed development materialized symbol interface evolved. Materialized the graphical interface and the graphical interface is flat coexist and cannot replace each other. During the design, the designer should be based on the advantages and disadvantages of the two styles complement each other interfaces, common graphical interface design services.

文摘In the United States(US),the Surveillance,Epidemiology,and End Results(SEER)program is the only comprehensive source of population-based information that includes stage of cancer at the time of diagnosis and patient survival data.This program aims to provide a database about cancer incidence and survival for studies of surveillance and the development of analytical and methodological tools in the cancer field.Currently,the SEER program covers approximately half of the total cancer patients in the US.A growing number of clinical studies have applied the SEER database in various aspects.However,the intrinsic features of the SEER database,such as the huge data volume and complexity of data types,have hindered its application.In this review,we provided a systematic overview of the commonly used methodologies and study designs for retrospective epidemiological research in order to illustrate the application of the SEER database.Therefore,the goal of this review is to assist researchers in the selection of appropriate methods and study designs for enhancing the robustness and reliability of clinical studies by mining the SEER database.
文摘Despite the efficacy of imatinib therapy in chronic myelogenous leukemia, the development of drug-resistant Abl mutants, especially the most difficult overcoming T3151 mutant, makes the search for new Abl T3151 inhibitors a very interesting challenge in medicinal chem- istry. In this work, a multistep computational framework combining the three dimensional quantitative structure-activity relationship (3D-QSAR), molecular docking, molecular dy- namics (MD) simulation and binding free energy calculation, was performed to explore the structural requirements for the Abl T315I activities of benzimidazole/benzothiazole derivatives and the binding mechanism between the inhibitors and Abl T315I. The established 3D-QSAR models exhibited satisfactory internal and external predictability. Docking study elucidated the comformations of compounds and the key amino acid residues at the binding pocket, which were confirmed by MD simulation. The binding free energies correlated well with the experimental activities. The MM-GBSA energy decomposition revealed that the van der Waals interaction was the major driving force for the interaction between the ligands and Abl T3151. The hydrogen bond interactions between the inhibitors and Met318 also played an important role in stablizing the binding of compounds to Abl T315I. Finally, four new compounds with rather high Abl T3151 activities were designed and presented to experimenters for reference.
