Distinct from the existing literature conforming to the Porter hypothesis which emphasizes the technological innovation mechanism,this paper examines the mechanism of technological transformation through which environ...Distinct from the existing literature conforming to the Porter hypothesis which emphasizes the technological innovation mechanism,this paper examines the mechanism of technological transformation through which environmental technical standards influence the manufacturing industry in reducing emissions and improving efficiency(i.e.green transition).Furthermore,drawing upon enterprise samples from the databases of Chinese Industrial Enterprises and Chinese Industrial Pollution Sources from Major Monitored Enterprises,it empirically validates the results of the theoretical analysis.Overall,our research reveals that environmental technical standards can propel manufacturing enterprises to reduce pollution and increase productivity by following an incremental path of technological transformation,thereby achieving a green transition.Moreover,environmental technical standards indirectly promote green technology innovation in the upstream equipment manufacturing enterprises.Heterogeneity analysis further shows that environmental technical standards have a stronger effect of green transition on those companies with higher pollution emission intensity,lower productivity,slower capital renewal and stronger financing capacity prior to implementing the environmental policies.展开更多

This study considers measurement of technical efficiency of 250 public and privately owned textile companies in Iran.Two stochastic frontier production functions are used for this purpose.One assumes that firm charact...This study considers measurement of technical efficiency of 250 public and privately owned textile companies in Iran.Two stochastic frontier production functions are used for this purpose.One assumes that firm characteristics directly influence the degree of technical inefficiency while the other assumes that the technology plays a key role.Maximum likelihood method is used to estimate parameters of the models and predict technical efficiency for each enterprise.The results obtained when using these two models are compared.The sensitivity of efficiency measures with respect to different model specifications is also analyzed.Empirical results show that most of the enterprises are operating at high level of efficiencies.The overall mean efficiency is 86%,indicating that,on average,there is a potential for an increase of output by 14%.The result also shows that the public firms are operating more inefficiently than the private ones.展开更多

Experts estimate that their annual consumption is increasing by 3,...Knitted fabrics and knitting technology play very important role on the fields of technical and medical textiles and their importance is ever greater. Experts estimate that their annual consumption is increasing by 3,8 % in average and it can reach about 24 million tons in 2010. Within this the consumption of each sector is increasing. Roughly one third of the world’s fibre consumption is used for production of technical textiles.The term "technical textiles" covers many fields of application that are mirrored in the terminology of Techtextil which is very much used generally when grouping these products. Techtextil differentiates 11 groups and knitted fabrics and products made by knitting technologies can be found in each of them.The lecture introduces such applications on many examples. Its results show that the improvement of provincial textile industry labor productivity has mainly resulted from technical progress since 2003. Meanwhile, labor productivity of underdeveloped provinces has been growing faster than that of developed ones owing to technology diffusion. And then, the above-mentioned improvement has originated from the enhancement of capital deepening and technology efficiency. Conducting polymer coated in textiles possesses a wide range of electrical properties.The surface resistivity is influenced by concentrations of the reactants,thickness of the coating,nature of the substrate surface,e...Conducting polymer coated in textiles possesses a wide range of electrical properties.The surface resistivity is influenced by concentrations of the reactants,thickness of the coating,nature of the substrate surface,extent of penetration of the polymer into the textile structure and the strength of the binding of the coating to the textile surface.Low resistivity in fabric results from highly doped thicker coatings that penetrate well into the textile structure thus enabling good electrical contact between fibers.In this study,we had chosen copper as conductor polymer for coating.The electrical conductivity is influenced by the thickness of coating paste,the nature of the substrate surface.The thickness of the paste and the concentration of the copper were studied in this paper.Furthermore,the electrical surface resistance decreased from 68 MΩto 8 MΩwith decreasing in coating thickness.However,the thickness of coated fabric is very important factor to determine conductivity and application of textile.In addition,we had noticed that the airflow is affected by the coating thickness which the penetration of the airflow differs from the lower thickness to the higher one.This study confirms that we can use coating woven fabric to develop a textile substrate responding to characteristics such as electrical resistance,drapability,air permeability and tensile strength,which are particularly important to be used as a support for flexible PV(photovoltaic)cells in clothes.展开更多
This paper presents the game of production technical standards between downstream and upstream suppliers on a manufacturing supply chain network when the two parties have different partnership densities, namely, the n...This paper presents the game of production technical standards between downstream and upstream suppliers on a manufacturing supply chain network when the two parties have different partnership densities, namely, the numbers of replaceable and mature manufacturing partners. We firstly constructed a manufacturing chain network and analyzed its three relationship structures among suppliers with the presence of different relationship densities, and found that all the three relationships brought about the game of production technical standards between partnership-rich and partnership-scanty suppliers. Then we built a two-party payoff matrix, and analyzed the two-party game and evolutionary stable strategy, based on replication dynamic equation and asymmetric evolutionary game theory. The evolutionary stable strategies of two parties under varying payoff parameters were validated through numerical simulation. Finally, we proposed some suggestions for both those manufacturers with more partners and fewer partners, respectively.展开更多
This paper presents a measurement of the technical efficiency of textile industries with 4-digit codes in China by using the cross-section data from 2002 and 2007 and a fully nonparametric stochastic frontier estimati...This paper presents a measurement of the technical efficiency of textile industries with 4-digit codes in China by using the cross-section data from 2002 and 2007 and a fully nonparametric stochastic frontier estimation approach. The technical efficiency of these textile industries is compared across six economic ownership types and across seven regions in China. This uncovers the effects of the proprietary characteristics and the location of a firm on its technical efficiency performance. The nonparametric estimation provides some interesting findings. First, textile production in China performs with a decreasing return to scale. The difference between the output elasticity of labor and that of capital decreases from the year 2002 to 2007. Second, the technical efficiency of the 4-digit textile industry in China is significantly contingent on its ownership and location. Privately-run textile enterprises on average perform with the highest level of technical efficiency among the six ownership types while state-owned enterprises perform with the lowest level of technical efficiency, whether or not the location dummies are accounted for. Third, the technical efficiency evaluated by regions follows the order: "eastern area 〉 southern area 〉 central area 〉 northern area," which remains unchanged across the two years.展开更多
