The mechanisms governing plastic flow are influenced by both grain size and temperature. At 4K and 78K, dominant deformation modes in Mg involve dislocation glide and extension twinning, regardless of grain size. The interactions between basal and non-basal dislocations and dislocations with grain boundaries promote an unusually high rate of work hardening in the plastic regime, leading to premature failure. The yield stress follows the Hall-Petch relationship σy~ k/√d, with the slope k increasing with decreasing temperature. At 298K, in addition to dislocation glide and twinning, grain boundary sliding(GBS) becomes significant in samples with grain sizes below 3 μm, considerably enhancing the material's deformability. GBS activation provides an additional recovery mechanism for dislocations accumulating at grain boundaries, facilitating their absorption during sliding and rotation. Analysis of σ Θ relationship suggests that the basal slip is the dominant dislocation mode in Mg at 298K. Decreasing grain size suppresses dislocation activity and twinning and increases GBS, resulting in lower Θ and σ Θ values. Suppressing conventional deformation modes coupled with enhanced GBS yields stress softening, breaking down the Hall-Petch relationship in Mg below 3 μm grain size, leading to an inverse Hall-Petch behaviour. The work reports new data on the strength, ductility, work hardening and fracture behaviour, and their variations with Mg grain size across different temperature regimes.展开更多

文摘In the production of compression springs, high forming velocities and grades of deformation during winding and setting may induce cracks that can lead to failure causing risks of an accident and damage. The AE(acoustic emission)technology,a non-destructive monitoring method, can detect acoustic signals reflected from cracks. To establish this method in the production of technical springs,it was necessary,to find out whether the AE signal is influenced by material properties, phase fractions distribution from tempered martensite, retained austenite, and microstructure including crystallographic texture. In addition,it was investigated to what extent the detected AE signal can be useful to separate between an actual crack and other material responses.Within an in-situ three-point bending test with the AE technology,macro-and micro-crack-typical AE signals were detected for five different spring steel wires(SH,VDSiCr,and FDSiCr according to EN-10270-1 and EN-10270-2).The relative energy related to the initiation, propagation, and growth of cracks caused by mechanical stress was measured using a piezoelectric sensor. If a crack AE signal appeared for the first time, the bending tests were stopped immediately. The results show that the frequency spectrum combined with the intensity of the acoustic signals generated during crack growth depends on the material properties and the crystallographic texture.Furthermore,it could be shown that it is possible to differentiate between micro-crack-typical AE signals and other signals that result from different material responses.
文摘Reservoir heterogeneities play a crucial role in governing reservoir performance and management.Traditionally, detailed and inter-well heterogeneity analyses are commonly performed by mapping seismic facies change in the seismic data, which is a time-intensive task. Many researchers have utilized a robust Grey-level co-occurrence matrix(GLCM)-based texture attributes to map reservoir heterogeneity. However, these attributes take seismic data as input and might not be sensitive to lateral lithology variation. To incorporate the lithology information,we have developed an innovative impedance-based texture approach using GLCM workflow by integrating 3D acoustic impedance volume(a rock propertybased attribute)obtained from a deep convolution network-based impedance inversion. Our proposed workflow is anticipated to be more sensitive toward mapping lateral changes than the conventional amplitude-based texture approach, wherein seismic data is used as input. To evaluate the improvement,we applied the proposed workflow to the full-stack 3D seismic data from the Poseidon field,NW-shelf,Australia.This study demonstrates that a better demarcation of reservoir gas sands with improved lateral continuity is achievable with the presented approach compared to the conventional approach. In addition,we assess the implication of multi-stage faulting on facies distribution for effective reservoir characterization. This study also suggests a well-bounded potential reservoir facies distribution along the parallel fault lines. Thus, the proposed approach provides an efficient strategy by integrating the impedance information with texture attributes to improve the inference on reservoir heterogeneity, which can serve as a promising tool for identifying potential reservoir zones for both production benefits and fluid storage.
文摘The recrystallization textures in 95%rolled aluminum sheets with different purities and initial textures were investigated. The effects of recovery levels and the dragging effects induced by impurities on the effective driving force and corresponding behaviors of oriented nucleation and oriented growth during annealing were analyzed. The oriented nucleation is a common behavior in the initial stage of primary recrystallization if the effective driving force in deformed matrix is not too high to reduce the necessity of nucleation period.Oriented growth might appear if the temperature is not too high and the grains,of which the misorientation to matrix is about 40°〈111〉,have enough time and space to expand growth advantages, while certain reduction of effective driving force is also necessary. The recrystallization textures could be changed by controlling initial textures and effective driving forces which can be regulated by recovery levels and dragging effects.

文摘In order to obtain the sharp cube texture,a new process, the intermediate annealing rolling technique, has been introduced to prepare the Ni7W substrate. In this paper,a cubic texture content up to 98.5%within 10°of the standard cubic orientation is obtained in the final substrate and the influence of this improved rolling technique on the cube texture formation has been discussed. The results show that the increased cube texture in the Ni7W substrate is caused by the optimized deformation texture and the increased nucleated fraction of the cube grains.

文摘In this study, the effects of pre-strain-induced tensile twins(TTWs)and controlled heat treatment on the formability behavior of AZX311 Mg alloy sheets were investigated.A 4%compressive strain was applied to pre-strain the sheets using the in-plane compression(IPC)technique along the rolling direction(RD)to introduce TTWs.The pre-strained(PS)samples were subsequently heat-treated at 250℃,350℃,and 400℃ independently for 1 hr,and are termed as PSA1,PSA2,and PSA3,respectively.Erichsen cupping tests were conducted to assess the formability of the sheet samples under different initial conditions. The results showed that the PS sample heat-treated at 250℃ for 1hr exhibited a decrease in the Erichsen index(IE)compared to the as-rolled sample, whereas PSA2 and PSA3 samples showed an increase in IE values.Microtexture analysis revealed that most of the TTWs generated through pre-twinning were stable at 250℃;however,the twin volume fraction reduced to 41%at 350℃ compared to the PS samples due to enhanced thermal activity at that temperature.Furthermore,PSA2 samples showed severe grain coarsening in some areas of the sample, and the fraction of such grains increased in the PSA3 samples. The stretch formability(IE value)of PSA2 samples showed a 32.3%increase compared to the as-rolled specimens.Additionally, the analysis of the deformed specimen at failure under the Erichsen test indicated that considerable detwinning occurs in the PS and PSA1 samples, whereas dislocation slip activity dominates in the PSA2 and PSA3 samples during stretch forming.Apart from detwinning and dislocation slip, deformation twins were also observed in all samples after the Erichsen test. Thus, this work highlights the importance of texture control and its underlying mechanisms via pre-twinning followed by heat treatment and their impact on the room temperature(RT)stretch formability of AZX311 Mg alloy sheets.

文摘In this study,pre-strain ranging from 0 to 0.12 was applied through uniaxial tension on high-strength low-alloy(HSLA)specimens with four kinds of grain size.Effect of pre-strain and grain size on me-chanical property was investigated through tensile tests.Microstructures of the pre-strained and tensile tested samples were analyzed, respectively. The 30.8°v-bending and following flattening,as well as Erichson cupping tests, were performed on the pre-strained samples. Results show the elongation ratio of grain and dislocation density increases with pre-strain.Yielding platform is removed when pre-strain is larger than 0.06 while yielding plateau period decreases with pre-strain less than 0.06 due to reduction of pinning effect. The 30.8°v-bending and the following flattening tests are successfully accomplished on all the pre-strained samples with different grain size.Decrease in grain size, along with increase in pre-strain,causes increase in strength and decrease in elongation rate as well as cupping value.Pre-strain causes very slight effect on bending ability, much less than that on mechanical property and cupping test value.Reciprocal impact of the pre-strain and grain size on HSLA steel deformability is inconspicuous.

文摘The basal texture of traditional magnesium alloy AZ31 is easy to form and exhibits poor plasticity at room temperature. To address these problems,a multi-micro-alloyed high-plasticity Mg-1.8Zn-0.8Gd-0.1Ca-0.2Mn(wt%)alloy was developed using the unique role of rare earth and Ca solute atoms. In addition, the influence of the annealing process on the grain size, second phase, texture, and mechanical properties of the warm-rolled sheet at room temperature was analyzed with the goal of developing high-plasticity mag-nesium alloy sheets and obtaining optimal thermal-mechanical treatment parameters. The results show that the annealing temperature has a significant effect on the microstructure and properties due to the low alloying content:there are small amounts of larger-sized block and long string phases along the rolling direction(RD),as well as several spherical and rodlike particle phases inside the grains. With increas-ing annealing temperature, the grain size decreases and then increases, and the morphology, number, and size of the second phase also change correspondingly. The particle phase within the grains vanishes at 450℃,and the grain size increases sharply. In the full recrystal-lization stage at 300-350℃,the optimum strength-plasticity comprehensive mechanical properties are presented, with yield strengths of 182.1 and 176.9 MPa,tensile strengths of 271.1 and 275.8 MPa in the RD and transverse direction(TD),and elongation values of 27.4%and 32.3%,respectively.Moreover,there are still some larger-sized phases in the alloy that influence its mechanical properties, which offers room for improvement.

文摘Twinning is widely recognized as an effective and cost-efficient method for controlling the microstructure and properties of wrought magnesium(Mg)alloys.Specifically, twins play a crucial role in initiating dynamic recrystallization(DRX),while twin regions experience rapid recrystallization during static recrystallization(SRX).The activation of twinning can lead to changes in lattice orientation, significantly impacting the final texture in Mg alloys. The active roles of twinning are influenced by various factors during the activation process, and the mobility of twin boundaries(TB)can be amplified by stress effects, dislocation interactions, and thermal effects.Conversely, annealing treatments that involve proper segregation or precipitation on TBs serve to stabilize them, restraining their motion.Events such as segregation may also alter the twinning propensity in Magnesium-rare earth(Mg-RE)alloys.While{10–11}contraction twins(CT)and{10–11}-{10–12}double twins(DT)can promote dynamic recrystallization(DRX),they also pose a risk as potential sources of voids and cracks.Additionally, understanding the nucleation and growth mechanisms of twinning is crucial, and these aspects are briefly reviewed in this article.Considering the factors mentioned above, this article summarizes the recent research progress in this field, shedding light on advancements in recent eras.

文摘Proposed agroforestry options should begin with the species that farmers are most familiar with, which would be the native multipurpose trees that have evolved under smallholder farms and socioeconomic conditions. The African birch(Anogeissus leiocarpa(DC.)Guill.&Perr.)and pink jacaranda(Stereospermum kunthianum Cham.)trees are the dominant species in the agroforestry parkland system in the drylands of Tigray,Ethiopia.Smallholder farmers highly value these trees for their multifunctional uses including timber, firewood, charcoal, medicine, etc. These trees also could improve soil fertility. However, the amount of soil physical and chemical properties enhanced by the two species must be determined to maintain the sustainable conservation of the species in the parklands and to scale up to similar agroecological systems.Hence,we selected twelve isolated trees, six from each species that had similar dendrometric characteristics and were growing in similar environmental conditions. We divided the canopy cover of each tree into three radial distances:mid-canopy,canopy edge, and canopy gap(control). At each distance,we took soil samples from three different depths. We collected 216 soil samples(half disturbed and the other half undisturbed)from each canopy position and soil depth.Bulk density(BD),soil moisture content(SMC),soil organic carbon(SOC),total nitrogen(TN),available phosphorus(AP),available potassium(AK),p H,electrical conductivity(EC),and cation exchange capacity(CEC)were analysed. Results revealed that soil physical and chemical properties significantly improved except for soil texture and EC under both species,CEC under A.leiocarpus, and soil p H under S.kunthianum, all the studied soils were improved under both species canopy as compared with canopy gap.SMC,TN,AP,and AK under canopy of these trees were respectively 24.1%,11.1%,55.0%,and 9.3% higher than those soils under control. The two parkland agroforestry species significantly enhanced soil fertility near the canopy of topsoil through improving soil physical and chemical properties. These two species were recommended in the drylands with similar agro-ecological systems.

文摘This paper provided an effective method to further improve the mechanical properties of the AZ80+0.4%Ce magnesium alloy wheel spoke. The effect of high strength and ductility was obtained with a yield strength of 295.36 MPa,an elongation of 10%,by the combination of pre-deformation(7%deformation)and two-stage aging treatment(120℃/9 h+175℃/24 h).The evolution of the microstructure and properties of the alloy was explored under the coupling conditions of different pre-deformation degrees and multi-stage aging. The results show that,pre-deformation introduced a large number of(1012)tensile twinning and dislocations, which greatly promoted the probability of continuous precipitates(CPs)appearing. On the contrary, the discontinuous precipitates(DPs)were limited by the vertical and horizontal twin structure. As a result, the pre-nucleation method of two-stage aging increased the proportion of CPs by 34%-38%.Owing to the DPs was effectively suppressed, the alloy's yield strength has been greatly improved.Besides, under multi-stage aging, the twin boundaries induce protruding nucleation to form static recrystallization by hindering the migration of dislocations, and the matrix swallows the twins, then the texture gradually tilts from the two poles to the basal plane. As an important supplement, the grain refinement and oblique texture promoted the improvement of the yield strength of the component.

文摘Hot torsion tests for AZ80 magnesium alloy were carried out in the temperature range of 380℃-260℃,with a constant decreasing temperature rate of 10℃/s in order to weaken the basal texture and refine the grains. The results indicated that the average grain sizes were refined forming gradient structure with increasing specimen radial position from center(12.2-5.4μm),and that the initial basal texture intensity of the extruded magnesium alloy was weakened from 46.2 to 8.3.Furthermore,the extension twins(ETs)could be disintegrated from the twins forming separated twins with smaller sizes.Interestingly,ETs with the same twin variant intersecting with each other could be coalesced forming grains with similar orientation, while ETs with different twin variants were separated by twins boundaries contributing to grain refinement. Moreover,in addition to the conventional continuous dynamic recrystallized(CDRX)grains with 30˚orientation rotated around C-axis of the parent grains,CDRXed grains with 30˚rotation around a-axis and random rotation axis were also discerned.Besides, the CDRX evolution induced twins were also elaborated, exhibiting the complex competition between CDRX and twining.Hot torsion deformation with constant decreasing temperatures rate is an effective way of grain refinement and texture modification.
文摘Magnesium alloys have many advantages as lightweight materials for engineering applications, especially in the fields of automotive and aerospace. They undergo extensive cutting or machining while making products out of them.Dry cutting,a sustainable machining method, causes more friction and adhesion at the tool-chip interface. One of the promising solutions to this problem is cutting tool surface texturing, which can reduce tool wear and friction in dry cutting and improve machining performance. This paper aims to investigate the impact of dimple textures(made on the flank face of cutting inserts)on tool wear and chip morphology in the dry machining of AZ31B magnesium alloy. The results show that the cutting speed was the most significant factor affecting tool flank wear, followed by feed rate and cutting depth. The tool wear mechanism was examined using scanning electron microscope(SEM)images and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDS)analysis reports, which showed that at low cutting speed, the main wear mechanism was abrasion, while at high speed,it was adhesion. The chips are discontinuous at low cutting speeds, while continuous at high cutting speeds. The dimple textured flank face cutting tools facilitate the dry machining of AZ31B magnesium alloy and contribute to ecological benefits.

文摘Dysphagia is commonly associated with malnutrition and an increased choking risk.To overcome these complications, food designed for people with dysphagia should have an appropriate texture and a high nutritional value. In this study, six formulations of a strawberry dessert enriched in protein(calcium caseinate)and fiber(wheat dextrin or inulin)were developed using different hydrocolloids(xanthan gum, carboxymethyl cellulose or modified starch)to provide desirable texture and stability.Nutritional value was calculated and total phenolic content and antioxidant activity of the samples were analyzed.Back-extrusion test, rheological measurements and sensory analysis were performed in refrigerated and frozen samples to characterize their textural and viscoelastic properties. The high content in protein(14.7 g/100 g)and fiber(7.9-8.7 g/100 g)made possible to use the claims“high protein”and“high fiber”.Phytochemicals supplied by strawberries contributed to the antioxidant properties of the dessert.Loss tangent ranged 0.28-0.35 for all the formulations, indicating a weak gel behavior, which could be considered safe to swallow. The formulations with dextrin in combination with carboxymethyl cellulose or xanthan gum seemed to be less susceptible to structural changes during frozen storage. This work provides insights for the development of a nutrient-dense dessert that meets the requirements of people with dysphagia.

文摘The effect of forging on the microstructure and texture evolution of a high Nb containing Ti-45Al-7Nb-0.3W(at.%)alloy was investigated by X-ray diffractometer(XRD),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),and transmission electron microscopy(TEM).The results show that the as-cast alloy is mainly composed of α_(2)/γ lamellar colonies with a mean size of 70μm,but the hot-forged pancake displays a near duplex microstructure(DP).Kinking and bending of lamellar colonies, deformation twinning and dynamic recrystallization(DRX)occur during hot forging.Meanwhile, dense dislocations in theβphase after forging suggest that the high-temperature β phase with a disordered structure is favorable for improving the hot-workability of the alloy.Unlike the common TiAl casting texture, the solidification process of the investigated as-cast alloy with high Nb content is completely via the β phase region, resulting in the formation of a<110>γ fiber texture where the<110>γ aligns parallel to the heat-flow direction. In comparison, the relatively strong<001>and weak<302>texture components in the as-forged alloy are attributed to the deformation twinning. After annealing, static recrystallization occurs at the twin boundary and intersections, which weakens the deformation texture.

文摘The impact of grain size, ranging from 0.9 μm to 9 μm, on the mechanical properties of commercially pure Mg is investigated at temperatures of 4K, 78K, and 298K. The work reports new data on the strength, ductility, work hardening and fracture behaviour, and their variations with Mg grain size across different temperature regimes.

文摘3%Y_(2)O_(3)p/ZGK200 composites were subjected to unidirectional rolling(UR)and cross rolling(CR)at 400℃and 350℃followed by annealing at 300℃for 1 h.The microstructure, texture and mechanical properties of rolled and annealed composites were systematically studied. The rolled composites exhibited a heterogeneous microstructure, consisting of deformed grains elongated along rolling direction(RD)and Y_(2)O_(3)particles bands distributed along RD.After annealing, static recrystallization(SRX)occurred and most deformed grains transformed into equiaxed grains.A non-basal texture with two strong T-texture components was obtained after UR while a non-basal elliptical/circle texture with circle multi-peaks was obtained after CR,indicating that rolling path had great influences on texture of the composites. After annealing process,R-texture component disappeared or weakened,as results,a non-basal texture with double peaks tilting from normal direction(ND)to transverse direction(TD)and a more random non-basal texture with circle multi-peaks were obtained for UR and CR composites, respectively. The yield strength of rolled composites after UR showed obvious anisotropy along RD and TD while a low anisotropic yield strength was obtained after CR.Some Y_(2)O_(3)particles broke during rolling. The fracture of the composites was attributed to the existence of Y_(2)O_(3)clusters and interfacial debonding between particles and matrix during tension,as a result, the ductility was not as superior as matrix alloy.
文摘Algal blooms, the spread of algae on the surface of water bodies, have adverse effects not only on aquatic ecosystems but also on human life. The adverse effects of harmful algal blooms(HABs)necessitate a convenient solution for detection and monitoring.Unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs)have recently emerged as a tool for algal bloom detection, efficiently providing on-demand images at high spatiotemporal resolutions. This study developed an image processing method for algal bloom area estimation from the aerial images(obtained from the internet)captured using UAVs.As a remote sensing method of HAB detection, analysis, and monitoring,a combination of histogram and texture analyses was used to efficiently estimate the area of HABs.Statistical features like entropy(using the Kullback-Leibler method)were emphasized with the aid of a gray-level co-occurrence matrix. The results showed that the orthogonal images demonstrated fewer errors, and the morphological filter best detected algal blooms in real time, with a precision of 80%.This study provided efficient image processing approaches using on-board UAVs for HAB monitoring.

文摘LZ91 Mg-Li alloy plates with three types of initial texture were rolled by 70%reduction at both room temperature and 200℃to explore the rolling texture formation ofα-Mg phase. The results showed that the rolling texture is largely affected by the initial texture. All the samples exhibited two main texture components as RD-split double peaks texture and TD-split double peaks texture after large strain rolling. The intensity of the two texture components was strongly influenced by the initial orientation and rolling temperature.Extension twinning altered the large-split non-basal orientation to a near basal one at low rolling strain. The basal orientation induced by twinning is unstable, which finally transmitted to the RD-split texture. The strong TD-split texture formed due to slip-induced orientation transition from its initial orientation. The competition between prismatic and basal slip determined the intensity and tilt angle of the TD-split texture.By increasing the rolling temperature, the TD-split texture component was enhanced in all three samples.Limitation of extension twinning behavior and the promotion of prismatic slip at elevated temperature are the main reasons for the difference in hot and cold rolling texture.
