Moreover, intervention programmes, which simply employ antiretroviral drugs, have been found to lack effectiveness particularly when the patient is under-nourished. Aim and Purpose: This presented pilot intervention provides evidence that suggests use of local resources as therapeutic nutrition. This can act as a fundamental part of the comprehensive package of care at the country level. Methodology: Local ingredients, which were known for their availability, accessibility, micro and macro-nutrient strengths were selected and optimised into a nutritional functional meal (Amtewa). Daily consumption was ascertained to assess its effects on nutritional status and biomedical indices of the study participants (n = 100) who were/were not taking Highly Active Anti-retroviral Therapy (HAART). Findings: Mean CD4 count for ART-Test group at baseline and sixth months increased by 40.8 cells/mm3 while the ART-Control group decreased 18.12 cells/mm3. This positive outcome qualified Amtewa meal to the next phase of intervention (400 participants) to ascertain its effectiveness on health status of HIV infected subjects and appraise its position within the National Health Services framework as innovative approach to attenuate the progression of HIV to AIDS in Nigeria. Conclusion: Amtewa-based approach in HIV management is innovative, culturally relevant, reliable and requiring low technology in order to assure compliance, sustainability and cost effectiveness. Although the achieved results take the form of specific technology, it suggests that a prolong consumption of the intervention meal (Amtewa) will be suitable to sustain the gained improvements in MUAC and CD4 cell counts thereby slowing the progression of the disease.展开更多

However, ascribed to the differences between Chinese and English cultures, plant of the same kind exhibits similar, distinct or vacant characteristics. This paper adopts comparison method so as to compare and to analyze the differences and similarities of cultural connotation contained in plant emerging in Treasure Island (a representative of western adventure literature) and The Swordsman (a representative of Chinese martial arts literature) and roles plant plays in a certain chapter, or the whole story. The literature study presents a general knowledge of research theories in this field and cultural background. Moreover, the induction method integrates and summarizes the prior analyses and researches. Reasons underlying those cultural differences are also expounded, including legend and folklore, literature works and convention and custom. The conclusion is that analyzing the cultural connotation of plant is of significance for understanding the corresponding cultural differences as well as appreciating adventure and martial arts literature.展开更多

Although the roots of Eurasian arts goes back to Aristotelian-Avicennian tradition, created in Central Asia (CA) of the eve of the last millennium, the evidence of that common tradition: archaeological, philological, philosophical, linguistic, etc., interconnected with each other and recognized by the diversity of the academic schools of the last century, are not included into educational programs of the universities of the modem times. H e resolutely denies the discussion of the essence of beauty of the traditional aesthetics, denying that the essence of beauty is in the pleasant sensation and the traditional fine arts. At the same time,he believes that the concept of art cannot be based on beauty and that the essence of art is determined —art is nothing but communication of emotion, putting forward the pure, clear and sincere aesthetical standard and revealing the essence of emotion and the functions of art. Tolstoy is the milestone in the history of the western aesthetics and is of great significance to the development of the western modern aesthetics.展开更多

The author indicates that the literary-artistic hypothesis of Talks consists in the political and military logic of "the revolutionary machine," offering a politically autonomous character to artistic formulation while simultaneously drawing up a mechanics for the general relati on ship between the recon struction of art and social relations in the country's future. Successively, in an attempt to engage with an elucidation of Mao's notion of "universal enlightenment" in the contemporary context, is an analytical emphasis on the implications of the material of Talks which embodies its cultural-political framework. This indicates that the revoluti on ary machine imposes a double function on the cultural-artistic worker as somebody who undertakes the responsibilities of both teacher and servant;who occupies the position of a "vanishing mediator" in the process of universal historical movement;and whose van guard characteristics and ultimate existence possess no independent value but instead depend on and draw from their relationship with the historical totality. The author holds that this perspective supports the advancement of our cognizance with regards to the civilizing functionality and ethical constructiveness of the Chinese Revolution in world-historical context.展开更多
