Aesthetic Utopia,Revolution in Daily Life and Identity Construction of Peasant Paintings

Peasant painting is a kind of painting created by farmers as creative subject,bearing rich significance.According to the historical development of peasant painting in reality,the types of meaning it carried could be divided into three types in chronological order:political ideological significance,folk life significance,and creative fashion significance.These three types of meaning gave rise to three types of aesthetic utopia,namely political aesthetic utopia,folk aesthetic utopia and fashion aesthetic utopia.The three types of aesthetic utopia reflected three forms of negation and revolution of daily life.What the political aesthetic utopia resisted was the alienation force of material desire.What folk aesthetic utopia resisted was the desire for material and the binding of political ideology.The fashion aesthetic utopia opposed the relatively narrow localism.Through these three forms of resistance,the public also constructed three identities:the interpreter of their own aesthetic interpretation of political ideology,the interpreter of their own aesthetic interpretation of real life from perspective of local feelings,and the interpreter of their own aesthetic interpretation of real life from perspective of the relationship between themselves and the world.

On the Translation Aesthetics of Lin Yutang from His Translation of Six Chapters of a Floating Life

Six Chapters of a Floating Life is an elegant autobiographical prose. The English version of Lin Yutang is honored as one of the classic translations. As the first translator to embrace"aestheticism"from the perspective of translation in Chinese history,Lin Yutang put for ward three standards for translation, namely,"fidelity, coherence and beauty", and proposed translation aesthetics in his article On Translation. By interpreting Lin's translation work of Six Chapters of a Floating Life from the aesthetic aspect,this paper analyzes Lin Yutang's standards for"aesthetic"translation, which refers to the beauty of sound, sense, conception, form and spirit, and also reveals his enlightening contribution to translation theory construction.

Sensing the Poetic Habitat - A Study of Middle School Chinese Teaching from the Perspectives of Life Aesthetics

The concept of life aesthetics reflects an individual’s cry for life and pursuit of beauty,inspiring individuals to discover their spiritual home,sense their poetic habitat,and enjoy the beauty of life flowing from their fingertips.Chinese education,viewed through the lens of life aesthetics,is founded on the natural characteristics of life,stimulating the aesthetic sense of individual life through the allure of language,and teaching students to view life through the aesthetic lens as well as from an understanding of life’s essence.Teachers and students are required to take an aesthetic view of life as theoretical guidance,based on core Chinese literacy,with textbook contents serving as carriers and classroom instruction as the position,closely connected to students’actual lives,in order to help stimulate aesthetic experience among students,improve their aesthetic ability through aesthetic activities,and thus establish a correct view of life.

The Reproduction of Artistic Conception——An Appreciation of the Two Chinese Translations of A Psalm of Life

本文从诗歌审美的两要素——诗歌形式与诗歌意境将英诗"生命礼赞"两中文译本与原文作了对比研究。刘宓庆教授认为,诗歌审美的两要素直接关系到诗歌的美学价值,而对它们的成功再现自然也成为文学翻译中的关键。本文通过对比分析得出结论:虽然两个中文译本都有各自的缺憾,但从总体上来说它们都成功再现了原诗的意境,也证明在翻译过程中对诗歌审美两要素的权衡和达成使原诗意境的重现成为可能。

For the love and respect of the service: Applied aesthetics and palliative care

In this article, the author discusses her experiences as an artist in residence in the Department of Palliative Care and Rehabilitation Medicine at the University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center. Emphasis is placed on applied aesthetics in palliative care and their implications for addressing communication, spiritual, and health care issues for military service members. Drawing on six vivid case studies, the author examines the various ways in which end of life narratives can shed valuable light on key issues concerning individuals’ life experiences in the Navy, the Army, and the Air Force. These cherished images strengthened people’s spirits at the end of life, and each of the men told their stories with pride.

An Approach to Improve Quality of Life and Sustainability in the Centers of Old Cities

The centers of old cities have a special design with a unique urban fabric to record cultural messages with their current citizens or their visitors from the different regions of the city or from outside. It creates spaces that strongly promote social and cultural behavior. Meanwhile, life developments and the stunning technological acceleration along with high population densities have led to many problems for the old cities and their centers, which were not prepared to address these problems. Most of these problems have caused much visual deterioration and economic recession for the centers of old cities, which raise the importance of finding alternative and flexible solutions to prevent damage in urban performance, environmental pollution and lack of requirements that affect the quality of life. The paper aims to present a vision that opens up prospects for subsequent research contributions that may contribute to improving the quality of life, inspired by sustainability and humanization features. The research relies on an inductive analysis method to develop a framework that contributes to the restoration of the old centers for their role, their aesthetic value and their functional importance, while facilitating movement and supporting their valuable architectural features.

Larval diet affects development and reproduction of East Asian strain of the fall armyworm,Spodoptera frugiperda

In December 11,2018,the fall armyworm(FAW),Spodoptera frugiperda invaded China and has since impacted local maize,sorghum and other crops.Here,we draw on laboratory experiments to show how different host crops(i.e.,maize,sorghum,wheat and rice)and artificial diet affect larval growth and adult reproduction of one local FAW strain.Larval diet affected development duration,pupation rate,survival and emergence rate of pupae,and S.frugiperda adult fecundity.FAW attained the slowest larval development(19.4 days)on sorghum and the fastest(14.1 days)on artificial diet,with larvae attaining 99.6%survival on the latter food item.On rice,FAW larvae attained survival rate of 0.4%and were unable to pupate successfully.Pupation rate and pupal survival varied substantially between artificial diet and live plantlets at different phenological stages.Pupal weight was the highest(0.26 g)on artificial diet and the lowest(0.14 g)on sorghum,while FAW females reached the highest fecundity(699.7 eggs/female)on 2-leaf stage maize.Egg hatching rate equaled 93.6%on 4-or 5-leaf stage maize and 36.6%on artificial diet.FAW intrinsic rate of natural increase and the finite rate of increase varied between larval diets,reflecting how young maize leaves are the most suitable diet.Our findings can help to refine laboratory rearing protocols,devise population forecasting models or guide the deployment of‘area-wide’integrated pest management(IPM)modules in FAW-invaded areas of China and other Asian countries.

Dynamics of Betula ermanni population in subalpine vegetation in Changbai Mountain, Northeast China

Betula ermanni population was divided into three groups: the upper population (2 000–2 200 m), the middle population (1 700–2 000 m), and the down population (1 400–1 700 m) in Changbai Mountain. The dynamics ofBetula ermanni populations in subalpine vegetation are studied and the population life table, fecundity schedule, survival curves, age structure, and fecundity curves were established. The results showed that the, middle population is obviously, the transition from the upper population to the down population.

Population life tables for the invasive fall armyworm,Spodoptera frugiperda fed on major oil crops planted in China

The fall armyworm(FAW),Spodoptera frugiperda,is a newly invasive,widespread agricultural pest in China.Understanding the suitability of the main field crops in Chinese agricultural system as host for this polyphagous herbivore is especially important for making control strategy.Here,after FAWs were fed three important oil-bearing crops(oilseed rape,soybean and sunflower)planted in China and resultant population parameters were compared using the age-stage,two-sex life table method,survival of larvae on soybean was significantly lower than that on oilseed rape and sunflower.Developmental duration of larvae on soybean was also the longest(23.3 days).The highest pupation rate was recorded on sunflower.The highest pupal mass(0.19 g)was attained on oilseed rape,significantly higher than on the other host plants;the lowest mass was on soybean(0.15 g).On soybean,oilseed rape and sunflower,respectively,the average generation period was 42.21,39.10 and 40.44 d;the intrinsic rate of increase(r)was 0.0844,0.1041 and 0.1134;the finite rate of increase(λ)was 1.0881,1.1098 and 1.1202.While the most suitable host plant overall was sunflower,S.frugiperda completed development and increased its population on all three host plants.Thus,soybean,oilseed rape and sunflower were all suitable for FAW,and population monitoring and management of FAW in these crops should be increased.

论“孔颜之乐”美学命题价值

“孔颜之乐”命题的演变经历了宋儒前的语词诠释、宋儒以来的哲学命题诠释和王国维以来的美学命题诠释三个历程。从美感问题出发,围绕美学史发生逻辑,“孔颜之乐”美学命题有两方面的内涵:其一是人格美感,即“从吾所好”的审美情趣观、“君子上达”的审美意志观与“忧道不忧贫”的审美认知观;其二是艺术美感,即“曲―数―志―人”的四层境界论与“哀而不伤,乐而不淫”的艺术评价“中庸”之道。“孔颜之乐”美学命题的价值主要为发展当代美学基础理论与解决当下民众自身的精神困境,有益于当代美学基础理论立足“人生美学”,并为当下民众探索“诗意地栖居”生活模式提供了理论思路。

中国当代价值论美学的先声--黄药眠“美是评价”观点的学术史审视

黄药眠是20世纪五六十年代“美学大讨论”最初的积极参与者和推动者,在与朱光潜、蔡仪等人美学观点的批判性对话与争鸣中提出了“美是人对于客观事物的审美的评价”的观点。“美是评价”的观点将美学问题的研讨置于唯物主义的立场和方法论之上,以“美是人类社会生活现象”的基本论断为理论逻辑前提,提出并阐发了美以人的存在而存在、“审美现象首先应从生活与实践中去找寻根源”、“美是人对客观世界的主观的把握”三大理论主张。这些观点和主张在当时占据主流形态的认识论美学范式笼罩之下发出了价值论美学研究的先声,对中国当代美学研究的学术创新和自主知识体系建构具有理论借鉴和启示意义。

生命美学不属于后实践美学

本文完全不涉及对于后实践美学(时期、思潮)的任何评价,仅仅是想在学术史上进行澄清:生命美学并不属于后实践美学(时期、思潮)。从发表的时间来看,生命美学的文章比后实践美学(时期、思潮)的文章早了9年,生命美学的专著比后实践美学(时期、思潮)的专著早了17年。如果要把早于后实践美学(时期、思潮)的生命美学纳入后实践美学(时期、思潮)的麾下,无疑会导致“关公战秦琼”之类的尴尬。学术史的研究,应该尊重发表先后的事实。如果中国当代美学史研究不符合历史原样,就会显得极不严肃。对于中国当代美学史的真实图景而言,这种做法是极不合适的。

对人类增强的慎思以及对当代大学生的引导教育
