Results show that mean seasonal survival was highest in green house (95.53%±2.33), followed by homegardens (89.3%±1.89) and different canopy conditions (77.62%±6.73); the highest values were found during February to April for both the homegardens (96%±1.68) and green house (98% ± 0.88) and lowest during November to January (78%±2.99) in homegardens and May to July (90%:t:4.53) in green house. In case of transplanted seedlings in different canopy conditions, mean seasonal survival was highest during May to July (98%±1.92) and lowest during August to October (66%±12.81). However, mean seasonal growth of collar diameter was highest in different canopy conditions (23.99%±1.76) compared to green house (21.52%±2.70) and homegardens (12.44%±1.33) and it was highest during rainy season (May to July) and lowest during dry winter (November to January) in all the three experi- mental sites. These variations may be due to the different microclimatic conditions as well as nutrient status of the soil in all the three experimen- tal sites. Although, seedling quality plays a great role in their survival and growth, based on the result of green house experiment, it can be concluded that maintenance of seedlings in green house conditions during their early growth period may improve both the survival and growth for large scale plantation of the species. Thus, the species can be reintroduced in its natural forest range to compensate the loss of natural population of this precious species in northeast India.展开更多

These patients represent the experience of 26.5% of the US population. Specifically, 5-year conditional relative survival rates are calculated for these patients for the first eight years subsequent to diagnosis of their cancer by Extent of Disease (EOD) (Localized, Regional, and Distant as coded by the SEER Program), gender, and age (<18, 18 - 34, and 35+). Findings include showing how the conditional survival rate patterns improve over time and that there are differences by gender, age, and EOD.展开更多

Similarly, the Hilbert and Vandermonde have full matrices and become ill-conditioned. The difference between a coefficient matrix generated by C∞-RBFs for partial differential or integral equations and Hilbert and Vandermonde systems is that C∞-RBFs are very sensitive to small changes in the adjustable parameters. These parameters affect the condition number and solution accuracy. The error terrain has many local and global maxima and minima. To find stable and accurate numerical solutions for full linear equation systems, this study proposes a hybrid combination of block Gaussian elimination (BGE) combined with arbitrary precision arithmetic (APA) to minimize the accumulation of rounding errors. In the future, this algorithm can execute faster using preconditioners and implemented on massively parallel computers.展开更多

In this study, we evaluated the cancerspecific CS rate and cancer-specific survival(CSS) rate in patients with GB cancer at multiple time points and investigated prognostic factors which affect cancer-specific CS rate to provide more accurate survival information. Methods: Between 2004 and 2013, a total of 9760 patients with GB cancer were identified from the Surveillance,Epidemiology, and End Results(SEER) data. The 3-year cancer-specific CS rate was calculated using the covariateadjusted survival function in the Cox model for each year since diagnosis, and the results were analyzed together with the adjusted CSS rates at the same time points. Cox proportional hazards regression was performed to ascertain the individual contribution of factors associated with CSS rate at diagnosis and cancer-specific CS rates at 1,3, and 5 years after diagnosis. Results: The adjusted 5-year CSS rate was 26.1 %. The adjusted 3-year cancer-specific CS rates at 1,2,3,4, and 5 years after diagnosis were 55.5,72.2,81.5,86.8, and 90.5%, respectively. At the time of diagnosis, age, race, histology, grade,T, N, and M categories, surgery, radiotherapy, insurance status, and marriage status were significant prognostic factors of CSS. Five years after diagnosis, however,T and M categories were significant prognostic factors for survivors(P = 0.007 and P = 0.009, respectively), whereas surgery and radiotherapy were not. Conclusions: T and M categories were significant prognostic factors even 5 years after the initial diagnosis, whereas local treatments at the time of diagnosis were not, suggesting that patients with GB cancer at high risks might need further adjuvant therapy after primary treatments. The combined analysis of CSS and cancer-specific CS rates offered more accurate survival information for patients who have already survived a certain period of time after diagnosis.展开更多

Thus, the aim of this present review is to look at these conflicting results and discuss the protective mechanisms that conditioned hyperglycemia may confer to the heart against ischemic injury. Several mechanisms have been proposed to explain the cardioprotective action of high glucose exposure, namely, upregulation of anti-apoptotic factor Bcl-2,inactivation of pro-apoptotic factor bad,and activation of pro-survival factors such as protein kinase B(Akt),vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF),hypoxia inducible factor-1α and protein kinase C-ε. Indeed, cytosolic increase in Ca2+ concentration, the mitochondrial permeability transition pore, plays a key role in the genesis of ischemic injury. Previous studies have shown that the diabetic heart decreased Na+/Ca2+ and Na+/H+ exchanger activity and as such it accumulates less Ca2+ in cardiomyocyte, thus preventing cardiac injury and the associated heart dysfunctions. In addition, the expression of VEGFin diabetic animals leads to increased capillary density before myocardial infarction. Despite poor prognostic in the long-term,all these results suggest that diabetes mellitus and consequently hyperglycemia may indeed play a cardioprotective role against myocardial infarction in the short term.展开更多

A new finite element space is studied in which the scaling function of the B-spline wavelet is considered as the shape function of a tetrahedton. The magnetic field is spited by an artificial absorbing body which used the condition of field radiating, so the solution is unique. The resolution is improved via the varying gradient of the B-spline function under the condition of unchanging gridding. So there are some advantages in dealing with the focus flux and a high varying gradient result from a nonlinear magnetic field. The result is more practical. Plots of flux and in the space is studied via simulating the supported system model. The results of the study are useful in the research of the supported magnetic system for the gyroscope rotor.展开更多

文摘Purpose:This study aimed to examine the effect of radiation esophagitis(RE)and the dynamics of RE on subse-quent survival in non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC)patients who underwent radiotherapy.Experimental Design:Patients with NSCLC treated with fractionated thoracic radiotherapy enrolled in prospective trials were eligible.RE was graded prospectively according to Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events(CTCAE)v3.0 per protocol requirement weekly during-RT and 1 month after RT.This study applied conditional survival assessment which has advantage over traditional survival analysis as it assesses the survival from the event instead of from the baseline.P-value less than 0.05 was considered to be significant. The primary endpoint is overall survival. Results:A total of 177 patients were eligible, with a median follow-up of 5 years. The presence of RE,the maximum RE grade, the evolution of RE and the onset timing of RE events were all correlated with subsequent survival. At all conditional time points, patients first presented with RE grade1(initial RE1)had significant inferior subsequent survival(multivariable HRs median:1.63,all P-values<0.05);meanwhile those with RE progressed had significant inferior subsequent survival than those never develop RE(multivariable HRs median:2.08,all P-values<0.05).Multivariable Cox proportional-hazards analysis showed significantly higher C-indexes for models with inclusion of RE events than those without(all P-values<0.05).Conclusion:This study comprehensively evaluated the impact of RE with conditional survival assessment and demonstrated that RE is associated with inferior survival in NSCLC patients treated with RT.

文摘Suppose M and N are two r×r and s×s dilation matrices, respectively.LetΓM andΓN represent the complete sets of representatives of distinct cosets of the quotient groups M-T Zr/Zr and N-T Zs/Zs,respectively.Two methods for constructing nonseparable Ω-filter banks from M-filter banks and N-filter banks are presented, where Ω is a(r+s) ×(r+s) dilation matrix such that one of its complete sets of representatives of distinct cosets of the quotient groups Ω-T Zr+s/Zr+s areΓΩ={[γT h,ζ T q] T:γh∈ΓM,ζq∈ΓN}.Specially,Ω can be [MΘ0N],whereΘis a r×s integer matrix with M-1Θbeing also an integer matrix. Moreover,if the constructed filter bank satisfies Lawton's condition, which can be easy to verify, then it generates an orthonormal nonseparable Ω-wavelet basis for L2(Rr+s).Properties,including Lawton's condition, vanishing moments and regularity of the new Ω-filter banks or new Ω-wavelet basis are discussed then. Finally,a class of nonseparable Ω-wavelet basis for L2(Rr+1) are constructed and three other examples are given to illustrate the results. In particular, when M=N=2,all results obtained in this paper appeared in[1].
