Power Law for the Rates of Different Numbers of Chronic Diseases among Elderly Chinese People

Chronic disease is an important factor that affect the health of elderly people. We analyzed the 2006 and 2010 data from the Chinese Urban and Rural Elderly Population Surveys, which are nationally representative surveys of elderly people aged 60 years and above. We found that there existed a typical power-law distribution for the rates of different numbers of chronic diseases among elderly Chinese people. A Kolmogorov-Smirnov test indicated that the result was robust, and the power exponents were approximately ?2.5. In addition, a paired t-test was conducted, which demonstrated that the rates of different numbers of chronic diseases did not have significant urban-rural differences, time differences or gender differences.

Combining the People Power and the Process Power to Achieve Six Sigma Process Capability——A Case Study

Achieving Six-Sigma process capability starts with l istening to the Voice of the Customers, and it becomes a reality by combining th e People Power and the Process Power of the organisation. This paper presents a Six-Sigma implementation case study carried out in a magnet manufacturing compa ny, which produces bearing magnets to be used in energy meters. If the thickness of the produced bearing magnets is between 2.35 mm and 2.50 mm, they will be ac cepted by the customers. All the time the company could not produce the bearing magnets within the specified thickness range, as their process distribution was flat with 2.20 mm as lower control limit and 2.60 mm as upper control limit. This resulted in a huge loss in the form of non-conformities, loss of time and goodwill. The process capability of the company then was around 0.40. Organisat ion restructuring was carried out to reap the benefit of the People Power of the organisation. Statistically designed experiments (Taguchi Method based Design o f Experiments), Online quality control tools (Statistical Process Control To ols) were effectively used to complete the DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyse, Impr ove and Control) cycle to reap the benefit of the Process Power of the organisat ion. Presently the company enjoys a process capability of 1.75, a way towards Si x-Sigma Process Capability.

Text Mining Analysis of Efficiency of the Continuously Implemented Gathering Type Action Plan for Male Elderly People Obtained

Aim: To clarify transformation of the participants’ consciousness for rebuilding the community and its factors from the discussion contents by actions for male elderly people in Town A in Fukushima prefecture. Design: This study was an action research. Method: The author verbalized discussion contents of the action conducted in 2018-2019 and analyzed them for each year by the text mining method. Results: The word appearance frequency was high in the order of “Person” and “Town A” in both years. One large word network was formed in 2018 and its topic was about what the participants feel in their life in Town A. Two large word networks were formed in 2019 and their topic was about the community participation including difficulty in motivating others such as how people who do not participate can feel like joining it.

Making Revolution on the Mind： Fanxin and the Exercise of Thought-Power in the Land Reform Movement of Northern China （1946-48）

The practice of fanxin, literally, ＂turning hearts and minds,＂ was widespread in the Liberated Areas of Northern China during the Land Reform Movement of 194648. This article examines the forms of power relations emerged during the course of revolutionary education and transformation which were geared towards awakening the peasants＇ ＂self-consciousness of mastership.＂ Taking ku/suffering as the focal point, the article investigates two main types of thought-power, ＂speaking bitterness＂ （suku） and ＂visiting the suffering people＂ （fangku）, both of which were important to the practices of fanxin. Through the investigation of fanxin, this empirical study reveals an important feature of the Chinese revolution： that is, the significance of the mind/heart, thought, or ＂spiritual elements.＂

Construction and Interpretation of Fundamental Legal Concepts:With a Focus on the Relations between Right and Power

Fundamental legal concepts can be identified empirically,but they need to be justified logically.The formal deduction of fundamental legal concepts can be achieved by the integration of Hohfeld’s theory and logical method.Fundamental legal concepts should be defined and expressed as follows:right,duty,no-right,no-duty,power,liability and no-power,no-liability,and their relations should be specified as relations of external negation,correlation and classification.The substantive construction of fundamental legal concepts needs to fill the gaps in Hohfeld’s theory and ground fundamental legal concepts in certain legal thought.Given the mutually interpretive relations between legal thought and particular types of legal norms,as carriers of concepts in the"right"and"power"groups,legal norms can be classified as two types related to legal thought.The theory of the object of right,and especially the fact that the right therein can become the object of right,lays a foundation for interpreting the relation between right and power.In structural terms,right and power have a nested relation;in terms of properties,their relation is one of contradiction;functionally,it is one of means and end;in terms of amounts,it is one of equivalence;and in terms of logic,it is one of mutual priority.As the fulcrum of fundamental legal concepts,the dual structure of right-power has not only inspired theories relating to the types and nature of right but also provided modern jurisprudence with an interpretation of two-order construction of the concepts of law,the legal system and legal order.Its theory of practice rests on the fact that it offers a micro-mechanism shared by all forms of governance.
