Micro/nanorobots can propel and navigate in many hard-to-reach biological environments,and thus may bring revolutionary changes to biomedical research and applications.However,current MNRs lack the capability to colle...Micro/nanorobots can propel and navigate in many hard-to-reach biological environments,and thus may bring revolutionary changes to biomedical research and applications.However,current MNRs lack the capability to collectively perceive and report physicochemical changes in unknown microenvironments.Here we propose to develop swarming responsive photonic nanorobots that can map local physicochemical conditions on the fly and further guide localized photothermal treatment.The RPNRs consist of a photonic nanochain of periodically-assembled magnetic Fe_(3)O_(4)nanoparticles encapsulated in a responsive hydrogel shell,and show multiple integrated functions,including energetic magnetically-driven swarming motions,bright stimuli-responsive structural colors,and photothermal conversion.Thus,they can actively navigate in complex environments utilizing their controllable swarming motions,then visualize unknown targets(e.g.,tumor lesion)by collectively mapping out local abnormal physicochemical conditions(e.g.,pH,temperature,or glucose concentra-tion)via their responsive structural colors,and further guide external light irradiation to initiate localized photothermal treatment.This work facilitates the development of intelligent motile nanosensors and versatile multifunctional nanotheranostics for cancer and inflam-matory diseases.展开更多

This paper aims to improve the location-weighted landscape contrast index...The changing patterns of watersheds in a landscape, driven by human activities, play an important role in non-point source pollution processes. This paper aims to improve the location-weighted landscape contrast index using remote sensing and GIS technology to account for the effects of scale and ecological processes. The hydrological response unit(HRU) with a single land use and soil type was used as the smallest unit. The relationship between the landscape index and typical ecological processes was established by describing the influence of the landscape pattern on non-point source pollution. To verify the research method, this paper used the Yanshi River basin as a study area. The results showed that the relative intensity of non-point source pollution in different regions of the watershed and the location-weighted landscape contrast index based on the minimum HRU can qualitatively reflect the risk of regional nutrient loss.展开更多

The need to coordinate activities in the midst of a dens...Remote sensing technology has been widely recognized for contributing to emergency response efforts after the World Trade Center attack on September 11th, 2001. The need to coordinate activities in the midst of a dense, yet relatively small area, made the combination of imagery and mapped data strategically useful. This paper reviews the role played by aerial photography, satellite imagery, and LIDAR data at Ground Zero. It examines how emergency managers utilized these datasets, and identifies significant problems that were encountered. It goes on to explore additional ways in which imagery could have been used, while presenting recommendations for more effective use in future disasters and Homeland Security applications. To plan adequately for future events, it was important to capture knowledge from individuals who responded to the World Trade Center attack. In recognition, interviews with key emergency management and geographic information system (GIS) personnel provide the basis of this paper. Successful techniques should not be forgotten, or serious problems dismissed. Although widely used after September 11th, it is important to recognize that with better planning, remote sensing and GIS could have played an even greater role. Research on the social value of the bus industry in Australia revealed an inconsistency in findings between qualitative and quantitative results in relation to the nature of a bus operator's interaction with the comm...Research on the social value of the bus industry in Australia revealed an inconsistency in findings between qualitative and quantitative results in relation to the nature of a bus operator's interaction with the community where they provide a transport service. As part of a larger research project that surveyed bus operators about their corporate social responsibility, bivariate analysis found that the responses to the embedded Sense of Community Index (SOCI) did not provide a predictor of the extent of a bus operator's community interaction or determinant of Corporate Responsibility (CR). However, qualitative comments in the survey suggested that bus operators did display strong positive feelings about their community. Published after the data collection stage was completed, the Sense of Community Responsibility Index (SOCRI) appeared to be a better fit than SOCI to explain the nature of bus operator's interaction with their community. Rather than drawing on community resources, the interaction was shown to be one of leaderships on the part of the operator. Further examination of this relationship using the SOCR would test this finding.展开更多

At the same time, oppo...The redevelopment of historic cities is often challenged by intricate--and in many cases contradictory--missions. From one side, there is the urge to comprehensively preserve cultural resources. At the same time, opportunities of economic growth should be made available and needs of contemporary living maintained and nourished. The main aim of this paper is to reconcile probable incompatibilities between such missions through promoting "sensitive" redevelopment approaches in historic cities. The paper focuses on the city of Luxor, Egypt with its immensely capturing yet quite undermined legend: the Avenue of Sphinxes. In Luxor, the injection of nonintrusive interventions presents itself as a highly potential candidate in protecting and enhancing the experience of the avenue while meeting contemporary needs of living. Adopting less sensitive development approaches can lead the quality of experiencing the whole city to be worsened for the increasing numbers of tourists and locals.展开更多

The purpose of this study is to prove the relationship between regret emotions and a sense of responsibility and control. The results show that the individual's sense of responsibility and regret that there is a positive correlation and there is a negative correlation between the control and regret, which is not match the previous part of the study so as to be further explored. At the same time, we found that the regret tendencies in the personality can be explained as some of the regret experiencing in the specific situation. Herein, we report a hierarchical terbium-doped yttrium-benzene-1,3,5-tricarboxylate MOF nanosheet via solvent-free synthetic strategy with a topological structure of MIL-78. The fluorescence property of the hierarchical Tb^(3+)-doped Y-based MOF nanosheets can be tuned by adjusting the molar ratio of Tb^(3+) to Y^(3+) ions, and the Tb_(0.5)Y_(0.5)-MOF nanosheet-like morphology with the optimum characteristic Tb^(3+) ion green emission exhibited great potential acting as fluorescence probe for highly sensitive Fe^(3+) and Cr_(2)O_(7)^(2−) detection. The Tb^(3+)-doped Y-MOF nanosheets show a fast response time of less than 1 s for Fe^(3+) ions. They also have low detection limits of 0.40 and 0.26 µM toward Fe^(3+) and Cr_(2)O_(7)^(2−) ions, respectively, as well as excellent stability. This work paves the way to explore intriguing hierarchical MOF-based luminescent materials for efficient fluorescence sensing applications.展开更多
Mpox is an infectious and contagious zoonotic disease caused by the mpox virus(MPXV),which belongs to the genus Orthopoxvirus.Since 2022,MPXV has posed a significant threat to global public health.The emergence of thou...Mpox is an infectious and contagious zoonotic disease caused by the mpox virus(MPXV),which belongs to the genus Orthopoxvirus.Since 2022,MPXV has posed a significant threat to global public health.The emergence of thousands of cases across the Western Hemisphere prompted the World Health Organization to declare an emergency.The extensive coevolutionary history of poxviruses with humans has enabled these viruses to develop sophisticated mechanisms to counter the human immune system.Specifically,MPXV employs unique immune evasion strategies against a wide range of immunological elements,presenting a considerable challenge for treatment,especially following the discontinuation of routine smallpox vaccination among the general population.In this review,we start by discussing the entry of the mpox virus and the onset of early infection,followed by an introduction to the mechanisms by which the mpox virus can evade the innate and adaptive immune responses.Two caspase-1 inhibitory proteins and a PKR escape-related protein have been identified as phylogenomic hubs involved in modulating the immune environment during the MPXV infection.With respect to adaptive immunity,mpox viruses exhibit unique and exceptional T-cell inhibition capabilities,thereby comprehensively remodeling the host immune environment.The viral envelope also poses challenges for the neutralizing effects of antibodies and the complement system.The unique immune evasion mechanisms employed by MPXV make novel multi-epitope and nucleic acid-based vaccines highly promising research directions worth investigating.Finally,we briefly discuss the impact of MPXV infection on immunosuppressed patients and the current status of MPXV vaccine development.This review may provide valuable information for the development of new immunological treatments for mpox.展开更多
Non-contact sensing can be a rapid and convenient alternative for determining structure response compared to conventional instrumentation.Computer vision has been broadly implemented to enable accurate non-contact dyn...Non-contact sensing can be a rapid and convenient alternative for determining structure response compared to conventional instrumentation.Computer vision has been broadly implemented to enable accurate non-contact dynamic response measurements for structures.This study has analyzed the effect of non-contact sensors,including type,frame rate,and data collection platform,on the performance of a novel motion detection technique.Video recordings of a cantilever column were collected using a high-speed camera mounted on a tripod and an unmanned aerial system(UAS)equipped with visual and thermal sensors.The test specimen was subjected to an initial deformation and released.Specimen acceleration data were collected using an accelerometer installed on the cantilever end.The displacement from each non-contact sensor and the acceleration from the contact sensor were analyzed to measure the specimen′s natural frequency and damping ratio.The specimen′s first fundamental frequency and damping ratio results were validated by analyzing acceleration data from the top of the specimen and a finite element model.展开更多

METHODS:Six patients from two families with HHCS, confirmed by genetic analysis showing A to G mutation at position+40 in the ...AIM:To study the role of hepcidin in hereditary hyperferritinemia cataract syndrome(HHCS). METHODS:Six patients from two families with HHCS, confirmed by genetic analysis showing A to G mutation at position+40 in the L-ferritin gene,were recruited to undergo serum hepcidin and prohepcidin measurements using radioimmunoassay and enzyme linked immunoassay,respectively,and measurements were compared with levels in serum from 25 healthy volunteers(14 females),mean age 36±11.9 years.RESULTS:The serum hepcidin and prohepcidin levels in patients with HHCS were 19.1±18.6 and 187± 120.9 ng/mL,respectively.Serum ferritin was 1716.3± 376μg/L.Liver biopsy in one patient did not show any evidence of iron overload.Serum hepcidin and prohepcidin values in healthy controls(HCs)were 15.30±15.71 and 236.88±83.68 ng/mL,respectively,while serum ferritin was 110±128.08μg/L.There was no statistical difference in serum hepcidin level between the two cohorts(19.1±18.6 ng/mL vs 15.30±15.71 ng/mL,P= 0.612)using two-tailed t-test. CONCLUSION:Serum hepcidin levels in HHCS patients is similar to that in HCs.Our study suggests that circulating ferritin is not a factor influencing hepcidin synthesis and does not have a role in the iron-sensing mechanism in hepatocytes.展开更多

METHODS:Six patients from two families with HHCS, confirmed by genetic analysis showing A to G mutation at position+40 in the L-ferritin gene,were recruited to undergo serum hepcidin and prohepcidin measurements using radioimmunoassay and enzyme linked immunoassay,respectively,and measurements were compared with levels in serum from 25 healthy volunteers(14 females),mean age 36±11.9 years.RESULTS:The serum hepcidin and prohepcidin levels in patients with HHCS were 19.1±18.6 and 187± 120.9 ng/mL,respectively.Serum ferritin was 1716.3± 376μg/L.Liver biopsy in one patient did not show any evidence of iron overload.Serum hepcidin and prohepcidin values in healthy controls(HCs)were 15.30±15.71 and 236.88±83.68 ng/mL,respectively,while serum ferritin was 110±128.08μg/L.There was no statistical difference in serum hepcidin level between the two cohorts(19.1±18.6 ng/mL vs 15.30±15.71 ng/mL,P= 0.612)using two-tailed t-test. CONCLUSION:Serum hepcidin levels in HHCS patients is similar to that in HCs.Our study suggests that circulating ferritin is not a factor influencing hepcidin synthesis and does not have a role in the iron-sensing mechanism in hepatocytes.

文摘As global investors and stakeholders increasingly prioritize environmental,social,and governance(ESG)performance,corporate social responsibility and sustainability have become crucial factors in determining corporate success.In the context of China’s robust economy,the involvement of state-owned capital exerts a profound impact on the ESG performance of private enterprises.This paper,starting from the perspective of ESG,analyzes how state-owned capital participation influences the ESG performance of private enterprises.Additionally,it proposes recommendations for the involvement of state-owned enterprises in private enterprises,aiming to foster the sustainable development of private enterprises and enhance their social responsibility.
