A Brief Research on the Difference between Chinese and Western Rite in Communication Language

In this new century,China is being engaged in many affairs with western countries.In order to make our country become more and more developed,Chinese people have been learning from western countries,including their culture,their economy,their education,their life style,and so on.Rite is one of these important aspects.Because of different culture,there are a lot of difference between western rites and Chinese rites.This paper is written to illustrate it from one aspect: communication language rite.Literature review: Many scholars have written many books and articles to discuss it.They had a brief review about the importance of western rites and Chinese rites,and they did some comparison.Through these comparisons,they suggest that people should absorb advantages of Chinese rites and western rites and abandon their disadvantages.

Difference Comparison and Cause Analysis of Chinese Culture and French Culture from the Perspective of Cultural Dimension

Cultures of different nations vary,so do cultures at different regions,and they have both differences and similarities. In the multi-cultural era,cultural differences,or even cultural gaps are everywhere,so it is important for us to deal with the relation between different cultures properly. As far as C hinese culture and French culture is concerned,there are also similarities and differences,the latter of which reflects the differences existing in the two different ideological systems having formed through thousands of years.In order to bridge cultural gaps,scholars both at home and abroad research different cultures and get different cross-cultural theories,one of which is the cultural dimension theory put forward by the Dutch scholar Hofstede. Based on such a theory,this paper attempts to make clear the root cause of the differences between C hinese culture and French culture so that people of the two cultures can have a better understanding of each other and can communicate fluently with each other and cultural conflicts will thus reduce and there will be more political,economic and cultural communication between the two cultures.

Problems and Countermeasures of Chinese Cultural Communication about the Confucius Institutes in Africa

Chinese cultural communication in Africa has developed quickly under the framework of the Confucius Institutes. The Confucius Institutes in Africa have opened multilevel Chinese classes and held rich and colorful cultural activities. At the moment, however, Chinese cultural communication through the Confucius Institutes in Africa is still confronted with problems, such as the difficult communication environment, lack of local high-level Chinese talents, language and cultural differences, and degree of acceptance. This paper puts forward strategies for Chinese cultural communication: Constructing models with multiple Chinese teaching spots supported by individual Confucius Institutes; strengthening the training of high-level talents for Chinese cultural communications; pushing forward localization of Chinese cultural communications; focusing on the interactivity of language in cultural communications; and establishing a Chinese cultural communication model with multiple subject participation.

The Difference between China and Western in Food Cultures

Diet is the precondition of human beings’survival and development.It is also one basic form of social life.However,due to the influence of geographical features,climate,customs and habits,etc.,the diet of different countries will be various in raw materials,flavors,cooking methods and eating habits.In view of this,this article aims to explore the differences between Chinese and western food cultures.Hope this research can help people better understand the differences between Chinese and western food culture as well as their reasons,so as to promote the further communication,complement and compatibility among different cultures.This paper can be divided into four parts:The first part is introduction,mainly introducing the research background and significance of this paper;the second part illustrates Chinese food culture and western food culture in detail;the third part focuses on analyzing the differences between Chinese and western food cultures from the perspectives of concepts,targets,dietary patterns,diet attribution and banquet etiquette;the final part is conclusion,making a summary to the major findings and limitations of this paper.

Body Language between Chinese and English in Intercultural Communication

As the economy and culture developing and globalizing so quickly, people have more opportunities to communicate with others who come from different cultures than before. Human communication system includes two parts, one is language communication system and the other is nonverbal communication system. Some researches show that in human's daily communication, 93% information is transmitted by nonverbal communication, among which, 55% information is transmitted by facial, gesture and so on; 38% information is transmitted by tone. So nonverbal communication is the main part of body language. But body language and culture have an inseparable relationship, some body languages are similarly in different cultures, and some have their own unique culture connotation.

A Comparative Analysis of the Origin and Formation Between Chinese Characters and English Alphabets

This research is based on the framework of social constructivism,utilizing the principle of Human Universals as a methodology to compare the similarities and differences between the ideation and formation methods of Chinese characters and English alphabets.Through comparative analysis of the ideation of English letters(pictogramme)and the origin of Chinese characters,known as the"Six Categories Theory,"we discover their alignment in terms of social,traditional,and cultural aspects.This suggests that different ethnic groups share common features in terms of life experience,learning cognitive development,and thinking habits.This study also finds that the origins of English letters and Chinese characters share similar linguistic features in their methods of constructing letters/characters,such as pictographic,ideographic,and semantic characteristics.Exploring these commonalities contributes to promoting learning and communication between Chinese and English characters.Additionally,by focusing on socio-cultural aspects,traditional customs,and cognitive learning,this study aims to break away from the traditional linguistic research approach that solely focuses on language differences.This provides a broader perspective and richer dimensions for Chinese and English language learning,facilitating the development of cross-linguistic and cross-cultural communication.

Investigating the Reliability and Validity of Chen and Starosta's Intercultural Sensitivity Scale (ISS) against Chinese Cultural Background

Intercultural Communication Competence (ICC), as one of the research fields of intercultural communication, has been given much importance from scholars all around the world. Intercultural sensitivity is one of the three dimensions in Dr Chen's ICC model. This research investigates the reliability and validity of Chen and Starosta's Intercultural Sensitivity Scale (ISS) (2000) against Chinese cultural background by using Chinese university students majoring in English as respondents.

Analysis of Chinese and American cultural values in the film——《Gua Sha Treatment》

The film——《Gua Sha Treatment》 tells the story of a Chinese family who immigrates to the Unit ed States,but falls into a series of troubles because the traditional Chinese medical therapy-Gua Sha is not understood and recognized by Americans.The film takes Gua Sha as the main line,reflecting the misunderstanding,conflict and integration caused by different cultural values be-tween China and America.This paper interprets the differences and conflicts between Chinese and American cultural values contained in the film from the perspectives of ethics,face and friendship,and points out that mutual adaptation and tolerance are effective meth-ods to overcome cultural barriers and improve the quality of communication in cross-cultural communication.

Research on the Training Mode of “the Combination of College Students’ Extracurricular English Autonomous Learning and Chinese Culture” Based on WeChat Platform

In today’s college English extracurricular learning,college students often neglect the combination of English language learning and the input of Chinese traditional cultural knowledge,paying too much attention to Western culture learning,ignoring their traditional culture and lead to be speechless when encountering cultural exchange activities.The author believes that college students should pay attention to the input of Chinese traditional cultural content in the process of independent English learning outside the classroom.The creative team of college students led by the author through the WeChat platform,in Xinjiang Agricultural University,conducted a combination of Chinese culture input and English autonomous learning,aiming at strengthening the effectiveness of English learning,improving the self-learning ability and intercultural communication skills.

The popularity of short videos among college students brings a good channel for students to disseminate traditional Chinese culture.Starting from the survey on the international communication capability of vocational students,the article analyzes four advantages of applying short videos in college English teaching and three advantages of short video in disseminating Chinese culture,explores five useful principles for both teachers and students to make better short videos,and offers four important suggestions for college English teaching.

With the rapid rise of China’s economy and the deployment of the Belt and Road Initiative,traditional Chinese medicine(TCM),one of the main components of Chinese culture,has become an important aspect of foreign exchange.Therefore,recent research has focused on how to effectively spread TCM culture internationally and improve TCM acceptance.Australia is currently a representative region with decent TCM development.Taking TCM development in Australia as a starting point,this article analyzes the challenges in TCM development,discusses countermeasures to address these issues,and provides recommendations for improving the international development and dissemination of TCM.

Research Status and Future Prospects of Cultural Communication in Contemporary International Student Education in China

The dissemination of Chinese culture to international students in China encompasses two closely interconnected dimensions:first,the dissemination aimed at international students to cultivate their understanding and recognition of the core values of Chinese culture;second,the dissemination of Chinese culture by international students themselves,which involves creating a diversified platform to effectively communicate China’s narratives.From the perspective of external cultural dissemination,this study employs a literature research method combined with CiteSpace knowledge mapping software to analyze and summarize the research network,hotspots,and knowledge structure within the field of international education in China.The exploration of future development directions presents significant practical value and contemporary relevance.

Analysis of Communication Model of Chinese Traditional Culture in the New Media Era

Nowadays,the communication of traditional culture is facing various challenges,including limitations of traditional culture itself,decrease of inheritors,poor construction of structure,and heterization of connotation,as well as conflicts between Chinese and foreign cultures in the context of globalization.New media has provided more opportunities for the communication of outstanding Chinese traditional culture.This paper analyzed the role of new media in completing the structure and expanding the scope of communication of outstanding Chinese traditional culture,and proposed strategy for optimizing the communication route from the perspective of improving environment,changing content,and adjusting strategy.The contributions of new media to the communication of Chinese traditional culture should be highly appreciated.

The Establishment and Spread of Acupuncture Model Based on Different Cultures

The Belt and Road(B and R)brings a historic opportunity for the Chinese medicine culture communication,especially the traditional acupuncture.The high rate of acupuncture cognitive barriers is one of the important factors among patients and service providers in“B and R”countries.The proposed project,to be conducted in“B and R”countries,has the following primary aims:(1)to assess acupuncture knowledge,attitudes,and perceptions;(2)to assess acupuncture knowledge,attitudes,and perceptions among clinic staff;and(3)to adapt,develop,and deliver acupuncture education programs for patients and clinic staff.The secondary aims are as follows:(4)to explore the barriers that impact acupuncture receiving intervention and medical service and(5)to explore ways to help service providers to provide acupuncture services to patients in acupuncture clinics based on different cultures.Through an iterative process of discussion and revision,we plan to develop a comprehensive acupuncture intervention program that is appropriate for the“B and R”countries setting and that can be tested for its effectiveness in a series of controlled trials in future research.

Communication Strategies for Chinese Documentaries from High-context to Low-context Culture: A Comparative Study of “Wild China” of BBC and CCTV Version

As an important means of cultural transmission,documentaries are a powerful tool to make known the five thousand years of Chinese civilization to people all over the world.The“Wild China”of BBC version,popular among the great majority of overseas audience,serves as a successful carrier of Chinese culture export.Based on the theory of low-context and high-context culture,this paper uses the method of text analysis and focuses on the study of the texts in the Chinese and English versions of“Wild China”and explores the differences in the texts in terms of content and rhythm.The purpose of this study is to avoid cultural misunderstanding and optimize communication effect.Findings of this study show that against the background of low-context(English)and high-context(Chinese)culture,the English version has a good sense of rhythm,uses rhetoric for vivid description,expresses ideas directly,and provides explanation for phenomena through narrating or telling a story.But Chinese version has plainer descriptions,uses more euphemistic or abstract words,analyzes phenomena in less detail and narrates more formally.So,it is suggested that in translating texts into English,concepts need to be made accessible,logical and direct with more explanation,more rhetoric,more objective evaluation,and less pursuit of artistic abstraction.These communication strategies conforming to low-context culture can help overseas audience accept Chinese culture more easily.
