Remote monitoriug ice velocities of the polar record and the Dark Glaciers

Measurement of ice velocities of the Antarctic glaciers is very important for studies on Antarctic ice and snow mass balance. The polar area environmental change and its influences on the global environment. Conventional methods may be used for measuring the ice velocities, but they suffer from severe weather conditions in the Polar areas. Use of satellite multi-spectral and muki-temporal images makes it easier to measure the velocities of the glacier movements. This paper discusses a new method for monitoring the glacial change by means of multi-temporal satellite images. Temporal remotely sensed images in the Ingrid Christensen coast were processed with respect to geometric rectification, registration and overlay, The average ice velocities of the Polar Record Glacier and the Dark Glacier were then calculated, with the changing characteristics analyzed and evaluated. The advantages of the method reported here include promise of all-weather operation and potentials of dynamic monitoring through suitable selection of temporal satellite images.

Is it really the ＂dark side＂ of herbal medicine？

Aristolochic acids （AAs）, previously rarely mentioned compounds, have been brought into the public eye several times since the beginning of this century; and currently, they have drawn even greater attention due to their association with liver cancer, as was recently reported by Ng et al.（Ng et al., 2017）. The authors sequenced the whole exomes of 98patients with hepatocellular carcinomas （HCC） from Taiwan and reported that 78%of the cases carried the AAs mutational signature, A：T〉T：A transversion.

Post-illumination activity of Bi_(2)WO_(6) in the dark from the photocatalytic“memory”effect

Photocatalysts with the photocatalytic"memory"effect could resolve the intrinsic activity loss of traditional photocatalysts when the light illumination is turned off.Due to the dual requirements of light absorption and energy storage/release functions,most previously reported photocatalysts with the photocatalytic"memory"effect were composite photocatalysts of two phase components,which may lose their performance due to gradually deteriorated interface conditions during their applications.In this work,a simple solvothermal process was developed to synthesize Bi2WO6 microspheres constructed by aggregated nanoflakes.The pure phase Bi_(2)WO_(6) was found to possess the photocatalytic"memory"effect through the trapping and release of photogenerated electrons by the reversible chemical state change of W component in the(WO_(4))^(2–)layers.When the illumination was switched off,Bi_(2)WO_(6) microspheres continuously produced H_(2)O_(2) in the dark as those trapped photogenerated electrons were gradually released to react with O_(2) through the two-electron O_(2) reduction process,resulting in the continuous disinfection of Escherichia coli bacteria in the dark through the photocatalytic"memory"effect.No deterioration of their cycling H2O2 production performance in the dark was observed,which verified their stable photocatalytic"memory"effect.
