The Impact of Student Club Development on the Scientific Literacy of Vocational College Students

This paper explores the impact of student club development on the scientific literacy of vocational college students.As society increasingly values innovation and scientific literacy,vocational colleges bear a significant responsibility in cultivating students’overall quality.Taking the Modeling and Simulation student club as a case study,the research team conducted a 12-week study.The results indicate that various club activities aimed at enhancing scientific literacy have positively influenced the development of students’scientific competencies.Students’practical skills and innovative thinking have been effectively improved.Our research demonstrates the positive role of student clubs in enhancing the scientific literacy of vocational college students,providing valuable experience and references for the development of similar clubs in the future.

The integration of the history of mathematics into junior middle school mathematics education represents a significant focus of international research in mathematics and education.The mathematics curriculum standards for compulsory education have emphasized the importance of incorporating the history of mathematics,aiming to gradually integrate it into the mathematics classroom.However,in the practical implementation of junior middle school mathematics education,the effective combination of the history of mathematics with teaching methodologies remains largely unexplored.This article explores the integration of junior middle school mathematics education and the history of mathematics,aiming to provide classroom teaching recommendations for teachers and promote the formation of students’mathematical literacy.

A Task-oriented Approach to the Pre-service Teacher Education in the Classroom of English Teaching Methodology （ETM）

This paper concerns itself with a task-oriented approach to the pre-service teacher education in the Classroom of English Teaching Methodology （ETM）. We attempt to use an explicit theoretic framework to guide the practice of ETM classroom in teacher education. The basic assumption is that we can use methodology which we use in teaching language, and apply those techniques and methods to train student teachers. By this approach the student teachers can adopt a research orientation to their own classrooms and their own teaching, an inquiry-based and discovery-oriented approach to learning is greatly emphasized, and they also can form the habit of generating theories and hypotheses and reflecting critically on teaching.

The Communist Manifesto,as the initial comprehensive exposition of scientific socialist theory,encapsulates the scientific spirit of Marxism.As socialism with Chinese characteristics enters a new epoch,and the world is in the throes of an unprecedented century-long transformation,the importance of young talent in bolstering national scientific and technological progress grows ever more apparent.It is of paramount significance to profoundly understand and elucidate the theoretical heritage,practical guidance,and directional leadership that The Communist Manifesto provides to scientific education for the young talent of this new era from three perspectives:theory,practice,and history.This understanding is vital for young talents to further deepen their accurate comprehension of the governing laws of the Communist Party,the construction laws of socialism,and the development laws of human society.The nurturing of scientific spirit and scientific literacy in young talents has critical implications for providing talent support in building a world scientific and technological powerhouse.

Physical literacy in the field of physical education——A challenge and a possibility

Publications of articles with physical literacy as a topic have increased dramatically since the beginning of 2000 s. The aim of this paper is to,through an explorative literature overview with an inductive approach, analyze frequent, and significant themes in published peer reviewed articles,with a focus on physical literacy. The database EBSCO has been used with the identifiers “physical literacy” and “physical literacy and evidence”.Furthermore ICSSPE Bulletin＇s special issue on physical literacy has been included in the overview. The findings have resulted in three key themes： assumptions of the concept physical literacy and its educative role, sports development and physical literacy, and assessment and physical literacy. Future studies are needed to examine if the advocated pedagogical strategies based on the concept physical literacy have led to a reorganized and revitalized school subject. There is also an existing critique towards making physical literacy an idealistic neutral concept or synonym with fundamental movement skills or sports talent identification. The role of higher education emerges as crucial for the next step of the development of the scientific framework as this involves how physical literacy will be socially configured, nurtured, and embodied in practice.Copyright ó 2015, Shanghai University of Sport. A Comparison of the Main Features of Suzuki and Traditional Violin Education

In early childhood education it is important to determine a child＇s ability or attitude towards different subjects Training and/or education geared towards these tendencies will not only ensure a more healthy future choice in education for the child but furthermore will enable the child to have a happier educational atmosphere in early childhood. Music education/training in early childhood is considered to be very important in early years. Music education/training, in the correct and proper context using tangible and feasible teaching techniques not only improves and develops a child＇s musical skills but also helps develop his/her personality. Two people who shared this view were Zolt^n Kod^ly and Shinichi Suzuki. Suzuki positively affected the educational systems worldwide with his approach to violin teaching and his ideas on early childhood pedagogy. Choosing between the Suzuki violin teaching methodology and the traditional violin teaching methodology is a personal decision. This article tries to objectively elaborate on different aspects of Suzuki and traditional violin teaching methodologies. Each methodology has its pros and cons and knowing what these are will help individuals to make a more educated choice.

The Impact of Education on Innovative Economy Polish Experiences

Methods and concepts of innovation performance are widely analyzed, discussed, and evaluated. The influence of educational management on the creation of innovative economy is not widely described in literature, however, procedures of innovation performance include the measures of educational elements. The paper discusses the methodology of European Innovation Scoreboard （EIS） and Innovation Union Scoreboard （IUS） in the aspect of education for innovative economy. Educational indicators in EIS/IUS methodology are quantitative and do not include information about the quality of education. Researchers agreed that innovation processes and economical growth require well-educated and skilled workforce and they assume that skilled workers are on output of the educational system. The measurement system of innovations in Europe includes various economical aspects, allows to observe trends and gives opportunity to improvement for countries and is directed on future educational effects. Quantitative indicators allow to observe trends, educational needs, desires of pupils, and their parents. The efficiency of these indicators is presented on the example of Poland. Educational indicators to improve innovation performance should be very synthetic, but cannot lose important information. The article presents author＇s research on graduate career paths and suggests to include elements of this methodology in the measurement system of innovation economy.

The Guangdong Mode of Integration of Science-Education and Industry-Education for Postgraduates in Engineering

Popularising Chemistry in Secondary Schools through the development of Scientific and Technological Literacy for All

While chemistry is popular for children of primary school age, its popularity drops dramatically in secondary schools. A potential solution to address this is to recognise the need for greater relevance-relevance to the curriculum, to the needs of society and, in the eyes of the students. The paper tries to puts forward a rethink of the philosophy for school chemistry education, based on the underlying belief that chemistry education is an integral part of education. The target is labelled scientific and technological literacy for all (STL). STL rejects the notion that chemistry is taught solely to acquire the abilities to be a scientist and supports the vision of a single curriculum goal, applicable to all students. Besides being a philosophy, STL is also a teaching approach. This approach is to initiate the teaching of chemistry topics, starting from a carefully chosen society perspective and to introduce the conceptual learning on a need-to-know basis. A limitation is the professional development of teachers. Suggestion for overcoming this involve workshop on materials development. A concern is expressed in cases where teachers make use of ready-made teaching materials (a common practice), without first gaining an understanding and an appreciation of the intended philosophy related to these materials.

Validation of a Questionnaire to Diagnose the Baumann Skin Type in All Ethnicities and in Various Geographic Locations

The Baumann Skin Typing System diagnoses patients as having one of 16 skin types based on their answers to a validated questionnaire [i] known as the Baumann Skin Type Indicator [ii]. The BSTI questionnaire has been tested over the last decade on over 200,000 people of various ages and ethnicities in different geographic locations around the world. In this study, data were collected from 52,862 patients to compare skin type prevalence between those who presented to doctor’s offices and those who took the quiz without supervision online. The most common skin types varied only slightly between patients that took the quiz online and those that completed the questionnaire in their doctor’s office. This indicates that the prevalence of skin types seen in the doctor’s office is similar to that in the general population and that supervision is not necessary to get an accurate result on the BSTI. [iii] In addition, comparison of data gathered in China, Korea, and the US did not show a significant difference in skin type prevalence between Asian and Caucasian skin types. [iv] This study demonstrates that the English version of the BSTI is valid for English speaking patients online, and in doctors’ offices in the US, China and Korea.

世界一流大学的“共性”特征——基于“ARWU”、“THE”与“QS”排行榜的分析

2003年6月,ARWU首次发布世界大学排名,其初衷是为了找到中国顶级大学在世界大学中的位置及其与世界一流大学之间的差距,为建设世界一流大学提供参考。ARWU偏好注重科学研究的研究型大学,这使得一些专注本科教育的大学(如美国的文理学院)名次普遍偏低。2010年后各自独立发布世界大学排名的THE与QS,由于"师承同宗",两者的指标体系几近相同,都包含了科研、教学和国际化程度三项指标,并加入了学术声誉等定性指标,在不同程度上弥补了ARWU单纯采用定量指标的不足。三个排行榜不同的指标设计及权重分配,导致同一所大学在不同榜单上的不同表现,但哈佛大学、斯坦福大学、麻省理工学院、剑桥大学、普林斯顿大学、加州理工学院、牛津大学等7所大学同时出现在三大榜单前10名中,且在历年排名中名次基本稳定。这7所大学之所以成为世界一流大学的样板,存在一系列共性特征:拥有世界领先的科研成果、一流的教师队伍、优质的生源、超凡的人才培养能力、充裕的财政投入、优良的硬件设施以及高水平的国际化程度等。建设世界一流大学,既要参照世界一流大学的"共性"特征,也要避免盲目跟从。遵循教育规律,创造性地传承民族传统文化,借鉴人类高等教育改革发展的文明成果,积极探索中国化的世界一流大学之路。

Research on Training Base’s Expansion of Scientific Popularization Function in Higher Vocational Colleges

Based on the needs of regional industrial development and technical personnel training,the training base for technical skill as the core function has effectively enhanced the development of vocational education.However,at present,the training base in vocational colleges is mainly applied for students’teaching,and the overall utilization rate is low.It is of great importance in the rational application of software and hardware resources onto the training base to widely carry out popular science activities.The importance of training base construction and scientific popularization is expounded.On this basis,the research team took the S&T racing training base as a case to study its expandable scientific popularization function.The practice results show that using the resources of the training base to carry out scientific popularization activities can greatly improve teenagers’interest in automobile technology.More training bases in vocational colleges should expand the function of scientific popularization.

Analytic Methods for Quality Control of Scientific Publications Part VI: Presentation in Research Gate, Journal Indexing, and Recognition

In the world of science, recognition of scientific performance is strongly correlated with publication visibility and interest generated among other researchers, which is evident by downloads and citations. A published paper’s number of downloads and citations are the best indices of its importance and are useful measures of the researchers’ performance. However, the published paper should be valuated and indexed independently, and the prestige of the journal in which it is published should not influence the value of the paper itself. By participating in and presenting at congresses and international meetings, scientists strongly increase the visibility of their results and recognition of their research;this also promotes their publications. Status in Research Gate (RG), the so-called RG Score, the Percentile, and the h-index give researchers feedback about their performance, or their place and prestige within the scientific community. RG has become an excellent tool for disseminating scientific results and connecting researchers worldwide. RG also allows researchers to present achievements other than publications (e.g., membership in recognized associations such as the American Chemist Society, a biography in Marquis Who’s Who in the World, awards received, and/or ongoing projects). This paper discusses questions regarding how the RG Score, Percentile, and h-index are calculated, whether these methods are correct, and alternative criteria. RG also lists papers with falsified results and the journals that publish them. Thus, it may be appropriate to reduce the indices for such journals, authors, and the institutions with which these authors are affiliated.

Bibliometric Analysis of Nursing Articles Focused on Health Education

This study aimed to analyze the references of articles with the approach to Health Education, published in Brazilian journals of nursing classified as Qualis Nursing A1 and A2. Descriptive study. Setting: SciELO library. We analyzed the references of 113 articles which were used to study the theoretical and methodological framework of bibliometrics, which aimed to promote subsidies for obtaining evaluation indicators of production, contributing to the expansion of scientific knowledge produced and disseminated among authors and researchers in nursing science. The main results showed the prevalence of article such as document most often quoted, references with 5-9 years of temporality, from Brazil and in Portuguese. The journals most frequently used were the Revista Brasileira de Enfermagem e a Revista Latino Americana de Enfermagem. Provided a vision of what is being referenced in nursing publications in Brazil, with regard to the Health Education.
