Purpose This study elucidates the rationale,implementation,values,and challenges of the Synergized Quality Improvement Program in Teacher Education(SQIPTE)—the first policy specifically dedicated to the development o...Purpose This study elucidates the rationale,implementation,values,and challenges of the Synergized Quality Improvement Program in Teacher Education(SQIPTE)—the first policy specifically dedicated to the development of teaching staff since the founding of the People's Republic of China.Design/Approach/Methods After introducing the primary structure and rationale of the SQIPTE,this study reviews the existing data and research to explain why the program focuses on local normal colleges and determine how it could be implemented more effectively.Findings In establishing group-based assistance under the principle of“1+M+N”(M≥N),the SQIPTE seeks to make normal colleges the primary force in the education of rural teachers and explores a collaborative operating mechanism to this end.Evidence suggests that this innovative program will provide new practical experience for the collaborative development and quality improvement of teachers.Originality/Value This study reviews the SQIPTE as a new Chinese intervention to improve the quality of rural teachers.There is strong evidence to suggest that this innovative program will inspire the construction of collaborative operating mechanisms incorporating multiple resources for teacher education systems across different areas.展开更多
This paper examines the unequal distribution of educational resources in rural areas of China and its impact on educational equity.Through a comprehensive analysis of existing literature,case studies,and statistical d...This paper examines the unequal distribution of educational resources in rural areas of China and its impact on educational equity.Through a comprehensive analysis of existing literature,case studies,and statistical data,the research identifies key disparities in areas such as teacher-to-student ratios,educational infrastructure,and educational attainment.The study also explores the long-term effects of these disparities on social mobility and economic development in rural regions.Drawing on international experiences from countries like Finland,South Korea,and Brazil,the paper offers policy recommendations and a practical pathway for reform.These include enhancing investment in rural education,improving teacher recruitment and retention,standardizing the curriculum,leveraging technology,strengthening early childhood education,and promoting lifelong learning opportunities.The paper concludes with a call to action for policymakers,educators,and community leaders to work collaboratively towards achieving educational equity and social justice in China.展开更多
The paper has compared the quality of compulsory education of rural schools in West China with the counties,cities,and provincial capitals,and find out that there is a big gap between the quality of West rural and urb...The paper has compared the quality of compulsory education of rural schools in West China with the counties,cities,and provincial capitals,and find out that there is a big gap between the quality of West rural and urban compulsory education,the quality of some grades of the rural primary schools has not achieved the basic requirement of the curriculum standards,the gap between the quality of junior high schools in rural and urban areas is relatively severe.The mean score and qualified rate in the subjects of Chinese,mathematics and English of West rural junior high students are distinctly lower than that of the urban and county schools.The main factor that leads to the bigger discrepancy between the urban and rural education quality mainly lies in the difference in the teaching force.Compared with urban schools,the teachers in rural schools is insufficient and poorly-trained,with less access to teachers'professional development and support.The teaching quality in the West rural schools should be paid attention and improved in light of the rationale of educational equity.展开更多
