Health risk assessment of trace metal(loid)s in agricultural soils based on Monte Carlo simulation coupled with positive matrix factorization model in Chongqing, southwest China

This study aimed to investigate the pollution characteristics, source apportionment, and health risks associated with trace metal(loid)s(TMs) in the major agricultural producing areas in Chongqing, China. We analyzed the source apportionment and assessed the health risk of TMs in agricultural soils by using positive matrix factorization(PMF) model and health risk assessment(HRA) model based on Monte Carlo simulation. Meanwhile, we combined PMF and HRA models to explore the health risks of TMs in agricultural soils by different pollution sources to determine the priority control factors. Results showed that the average contents of cadmium(Cd), arsenic (As), lead(Pb), chromium(Cr), copper(Cu), nickel(Ni), and zinc(Zn) in the soil were found to be 0.26, 5.93, 27.14, 61.32, 23.81, 32.45, and 78.65 mg/kg, respectively. Spatial analysis and source apportionment analysis revealed that urban and industrial sources, agricultural sources, and natural sources accounted for 33.0%, 27.7%, and 39.3% of TM accumulation in the soil, respectively. In the HRA model based on Monte Carlo simulation, noncarcinogenic risks were deemed negligible(hazard index <1), the carcinogenic risks were at acceptable level(10^(-6)<total carcinogenic risk ≤ 10^(-4)), with higher risks observed for children compared to adults. The relationship between TMs, their sources, and health risks indicated that urban and industrial sources were primarily associated with As, contributing to 75.1% of carcinogenic risks and 55.7% of non-carcinogenic risks, making them the primary control factors. Meanwhile, agricultural sources were primarily linked to Cd and Pb, contributing to 13.1% of carcinogenic risks and 21.8% of non-carcinogenic risks, designating them as secondary control factors.

Modelling Foot and Mouth Disease in the Context of Active Immigrants

This study employs mathematical modeling to analyze the impact of active immigrants on Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) transmission dynamics. We calculate the reproduction number (R0) using the next-generation matrix approach. Applying the Routh-Hurwitz Criterion, we establish that the Disease-Free Equilibrium (DFE) point achieves local asymptotic stability when R0 α1 and α2) are closely associated with reduced susceptibility in animal populations, underscoring the link between immigrants and susceptibility. Furthermore, our findings emphasize the interplay of disease introduction with population response and adaptation, particularly involving incoming infectious immigrants. Swift interventions are vital due to the limited potential for disease establishment and rapid susceptibility decline. This study offers crucial insights into the complexities of FMD transmission with active immigrants, informing effective disease management strategies.

THE GENERALIZED REFLEXIVE SOLUTION FOR A CLASS OF MATRIX EQUATIONS (AX-B,XC=D)

Solutions to the generalized Sylvester matrixequations by a singular value decomposition

In this paper, solutions to the generalized Sylvester matrix equations AX -XF = BY and MXN -X = TY with A, M ∈ R^n×n, B, T ∈ Rn×r, F, N ∈ R^p×p and the matrices N, F being in companion form, are established by a singular value decomposition of a matrix with dimensions n × （n ＋ pr）. The algorithm proposed in this paper for the euqation AX - XF = BY does not require the controllability of matrix pair （A, B） and the restriction that A, F do not have common eigenvalues. Since singular value decomposition is adopted, the algorithm is numerically stable and may provide great convenience to the computation of the solution to these equations, and can perform important functions in many design problems in control systems theory.

Extremal ranks of the solution to a system of real quaternion matrix equations

In this paper, the maximal and minimal ranks of the solution to a system of matrix equations over H, the real quaternion algebra, were derived. A previous known result could be regarded as a special case of the new result.

Detection of tyrosine,trace metals and nutrients in cow dung:the environmental significance in soil and water environments

This study examined the dissolved organic matter(DOM) components of cow dung using a combination of fluorescence(excitation–emission matrix,EEM)spectroscopy and parallel factor(PARAFAC) modelling along with eleven trace metals using ICP-MS and nutrients(NH_4^+ and NO_3^-) using an AA3 auto analyser. EEM–PARAFAC analysis demonstrated that cow dung predominantly contained only one fluorescent DOM component with two fluorescence peaks(Ex/Em=275/311 nm and Ex/Em=220/311 nm),which could be denoted as tyrosine by comparison with its standard. Occurrence of tyrosine can be further confirmed by the FTIR spectra. Trace metals analysis revealed that Na,K and Mg were significantly higher than Ca,Fe,Mn,Zn Sr,Cu,Ni and Co. The NH_4^+ concentrations were substantially higher than NO_3^-.These results thus indicate that the dissolved components of the cow dung could be useful for better understanding its future uses in various important purposes.

A simple and effective model for Jones matrix to evaluate the transmission performance of Savart polariscope

Starting from the wave normal tracing treatment in the Savart polariscope that relates the Jones matrix to its transmission performance, this paper establishes a simple and effective model for the Jones matrix at an arbitrary incidence in the spatial domain. Analytical expressions of all the matrix components are determined with the consideration of all the main impact factors. This model needs only a few parameters hence it is convenient to be employed to evaluate the propagation performance of any birefringent optical system. The simulated results obtained with it demonstrate that this model gives a precise representation of the characteristic of light propagation in the Savart polariscope. This would provide useful suggestions for the design, calibration, and performance improvement of any other birefringent polarisation element and optical system.

The primitive matrices of sandwich semigroups of generalized circulant Boolean matrices

Let Gn（C） be the sandwich semigroup of generalized circulant Boolean matrices with the sandwich matrix C and Gc（Jr~） the set of all primitive matrices in Gn（C）. In this paper, some necessary and sufficient conditions for A in the semigroup Gn（C） to be primitive are given. We also show that Gc（Jn） is a subsemigroup of Gn（C）.

A NOTE ON THE REPRESENTATIONS FOR THE GENERALIZED DRAZIN INVERSE OF BLOCK MATRICES

We present some representations for the generalized Drazin inverse of a block matrix x =[cd ab]in a Banach algebra ~4 in terms of ad and （be）d under certain conditions,extending some recent result related to the generalized Drazin inverse of an anti-triangular operator matrix. Generation and classification of the translational shape-invariant potentials based on the analytical transfer matrix method

For the conventional translational shape-invariant potentials （TSIPs）, it has demonstrated that the phase contribution devoted by the scattered subwaves in the analytical transfer matrix quantization condition is integrable and independent of n. Based on this fact we propose a novel strategy to generate the whole set of conventional TSIPs and classify them into three types. The generating functions are given explicitly and the Morse potential is taken as an example to illustrate this strategy.

The Discriminance for <i>FLDcirc_r</i>Matrices and the Fast Algorithm of Their Inverse and Generalized Inverse

This paper presents a new type of circulant matrices. We call it the first and the last difference r-circulant matrix (FLDcircr matrix). We can verify that the linear operation, the matrix product and the inverse matrix of this type of matrices are still FLDcircr matrices. By constructing the basic FLDcircr matrix, we give the discriminance for FLDcircr matrices and the fast algorithm of the inverse and generalized inverse of the FLDcircr matrices.

Least-Squares Solutions of the Matrix Equation A^TXA=B Over Bisymmetric Matrices and its Optimal Approximation

A real n×n symmetric matrix X=(x_(ij))_(n×n)is called a bisymmetric matrix if x_(ij)=x_(n+1-j,n+1-i).Based on the projection theorem,the canonical correlation de- composition and the generalized singular value decomposition,a method useful for finding the least-squares solutions of the matrix equation A^TXA=B over bisymmetric matrices is proposed.The expression of the least-squares solutions is given.Moreover, in the corresponding solution set,the optimal approximate solution to a given matrix is also derived.A numerical algorithm for finding the optimal approximate solution is also described.

Experimental Measurement of the Generalized Stokes Parameters of a Radially Polarized Random Electromagnetic Beam

Utilizing the Young’s double slits and Mach-Zehnder interferometer, we proposed an experimental method to measure the generalized Stokes parameters of a radially polarized random electromagnetic beam. After the partially coherent beam propagating through the Young’s double slits, the interference fringe is obtained by the help of a Mach-Zehnder interferometer consisting of apertures, quarter-wave plates and polarizers. The electric cross-spectral density matrix is detected by the coherence degree of interference fringe and the density of each single slit. The generalized Stokes parameters can be obtained from the electric cross-spectral density matrix. This experiment measures the generalized Stokes parameters of the random electromagnetic beam successfully. The results show that the spectral degree of coherence for copolarized cases (xx and yy) is similar with that for cross-polaried cases (xy and yx) for the radially polarized random electromagnetic beam. This method will help us determine the change of the polarization and coherence of the light in propagation by detecting the change of the generalized Stokes parameters.

The Generalization of a Converse of Matrix Inequality

We prove that the inequality m+n/mn+min{m,n}≤m m∑i=1（n∑j=1xij）^2+n n∑j=1（m∑i=1xij）^2/（m∑i=1 n∑j=1xij）^2+mn m∑i=1 n∑j=1x^2ij holds, when a m×n real matrix X = (xij) whose entries are not all equal to 0 satisfies txX^TX}≤min{m∑i=1（n∑j=1xij）^2，n∑j=1（m∑i=1xij）^2}.Therefore we not only generalize the results of Horst Alzer [2] from non-negative matrix to real matrix, but also complete a result of E R van Dam [1], which indicated that the best possible upper bound is equal to 1 for real matrix.
