Chinese is featured with four-Chinese-character structures.These forms are typical in pattern,sound and meaning delivery.The thesis,therefore,with classifications of the four-Chinese-character structures in the latest 19^(th)National Congress of the Communist Party of China,attempts to analyze translation methods such as literal translation and liberal translation as well as translation techniques such as combination,shift,addition and omission.It is concluded that dominant methods or techniques are adopted in translating corresponding types of four-Chinese-character structures.In this sense,not only guidance for translation practice in political regard is offered but also a further understanding of translation methods and techniques can be gained.

On the basis of inheriting Marxist thought of the inner prescriptions of "people's democracy",they fur-ther expanded the connotation and extension of "rule by the people",developed the contents of the electoral democ-racy and consultative democracy in China.,enriched the concrete requirements of the democratic realization condi-tions from the aspects of economic foundation,intellectual support and the guarantee of the rule of law,and a new ex-ploration is made on the development of China's democratic political system from the aspects of Party's leadership and operation supervision.

The “Liberation” Theme of Modern Chinese Literature

The concept of “liberation” has profoundly influenced the development of modern Chinese literature,giving rise to a “liberation” theme with profound implications.Modern Chinese literature can be analyzed from the joint perspectives of the liberators,the routes to liberation and the scope of liberation.Variations among the liberators have led to the two different concepts of self-liberation and being liberated;the differences in the routes to liberation have led to the intermixture of liberation based on persuasion and struggle-based liberation;and the difference in the scope of liberation derives from the alternation of the partial achievement of thoroughgoing liberation and the full realization of incremental liberation.The Chinese concept of liberation was strongly shaped by the Communist Party of China (CPC);compared to the work of those writers influenced by the CPC’s concept of “liberation,” the writings of ordinary non-Communist writers present “liberation” differently.The latter tend to adopt an either/or attitude toward liberation,whereas the former ensure that liberation theme reflects the interaction and blending of different types of “liberation” concepts,thus establishing a new form of “liberation” writing.To mark the centenary of the CPC,we have reviewed and explored the “liberation” theme of modern Chinese literature in the hope that we will gain a full understanding of the theoretical discourse and historical practice of “liberation,” taking a dialectical approach to freedom and responsibility,respecting tradition while boldly pursuing innovation,and striving to explore the realistic significance and ideological value of literary works.

Wounding Ideals＂ Israel Epstein＇s Life Saga in Communist China

Despite of all its enigma and revealingness, Israel Epstein＇s （1915-2005） life in communist China remains a vacuum in English-language scholarship on the history of the People＇s Republic of China. This paper intends to fill this vacuum. It seeks to rediscover Epstein＇s communist experience, with particular focus on his fervent activism in and unapologetic defense of the Cultural Revolution. Through analyzing his experience, this paper exposes the essential allurement of Chinese communism encapsulated in the ideals of revolutionary regeneration and revolutionary virtues. Beyond Epstein＇s communist experience, this paper calls for a deeper and broader pondering on the analogy between communism and religion. Such an illuminating analogy should inspire more intellectual efforts than critical expositions of formalistic vainglory or personality cult.

The Evolution Course,Profound Connotation,and Advancing Path of Chinese Modernization

The Report to the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China(CPC)decides to“comprehensively promote the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation through Chinese modernization”as a central task,listing nine essential requirements for Chinese modernization with the creation of a new form of human civilization as its goal.This paper analyzes the evolution of Chinese modernization led by the CPC and the pursuit of civilization,and reveals the inner connection and unity between Chinese modernization and the new form of human civilization.It is helpful to deeply understand the historical logic,realistic logic,and future logic of Chinese modernization,enabling better study and implementation of the spirit of the Report to the 20th National Congress of the CPC.Also,this paper boosts confidence in the path,theory,system,culture,and history of building a modern socialist country in an all-round way and promoting the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
