In particular, the fracture-cavity type fractures of the lower paleocarbonate reservoirs have serious leakage. Traditional plugging materials and traditional plugging materials and methods have some limitations in dealing with leakage problems. Therefore, a composite plugging system using polymer solution as the base carrier fluid, multi-particle size rigid particles, expandable particles and modified fibers is developed. Its formula is: water + 2% polyacrylamide + 0.1% N, N-methylene bisacrylamide polymer gel is the base carrier fluid;the formulation of the particle plugging agent was continuously optimized through the CDL-II high temperature and high pressure dynamic and static plugging ability to plug the core. The final formulation of the plugging agent is: 1) 20% rigid particles (5 mm, 1 mm, 0.5 mm CCP-3 ratio 4:2:1) + 1% 3 mm expanded particles SMK-1 + 1% 1 ~ 2 mm fiber SRXW-10;2) 20% rigid particles (3 mm, 0.1 mm, 0.05 mm CCP-3 ratio 3:2:1) + 1% 3 mm expanded particles SMK-1 + 1% 1 ~ 2 mm fiber SRXW-10. The water swelling multiples of the granular plugging agent in salt water are all above 7 times, which meets the requirements of leak-proof plugging operations under high salinity;3% HCl is selected as the gel breaker, and the plugging system has a gel breaking rate of 95%;through the water plugging and profile control experimental system, the sand-filled pipe is used to simulate the plugging effect under high temperature and high pressure, and the plugging system can be sealed for 5 days at a high temperature of 110°C and a high pressure of 20 MPa to achieve a good plugging of the formation. It is expected that the developed plugging system has a good application prospect in future workover operations.展开更多

In the present study, the typical problem connected to the excessively high superheat degree ofextraction steam in an ultra-supercritical (USC) double-reheat unit is considered. Using a 1000 MW power plantas an example, two systems (case 1 and case 2) are proposed, both working in combination with a regenerativesteam turbine. The thermal performances of these two systems are compared with that of the original systemthrough a heat balance method and an exergy balance strategy. The results reveal that the two coupled systemscan significantly reduce the superheat degree of extraction steam, turbine heat rate, and coal consumption of theunit and improve the energy utilization efficiency. These results will provide useful theoretical guidance to futureinvestigators wishing to address the general problem relating to energy conservation and modelling of the coupledextraction steam regenerative system of USC double-reheat units.展开更多

Several different technologies have been developed for optical packet switching such as space switches, broadcast-and-select, input buffered switches and output buffered switches. These architectures vary based on several parameters such as the way of optical buffering, the placement of optical buffers, the way of solving the external blocking inherited from switching technologies in general and the components used to implement the WDM. This study surveys most of the exiting optical packet switching architectures. A simulation-based comparison of input buffered and output buffered architectures is presented. The performance analysis of the selected two architectures is derived using simulation program and compared at different scenarios. We found that the output buffered architectures give better performance than input buffered architectures. The simulation results show that the-broadcast-and-select architecture is attractive in terms that it has lees number of components compared to other switches.展开更多

Information on their expected movement tracks and boundaries of influence is very useful and important for the effective establishment of a reduction plan. In general, the information is supported by a red-tide(a.k.a algal bloom) model. The performance of the model is highly dependent on the accuracy of parameters, which are the coefficients of functions approximating the biological growth and loss patterns of the C. polykrikoides. These parameters have been estimated using the bioassay data composed of growth-limiting factor and net growth rate value pairs. In the case of the C. polykrikoides, the parameters are different from each other in accordance with the used data because the bioassay data are sufficient compared to the other algal species. The parameters estimated by one specific dataset can be viewed as locally-optimized because they are adjusted only by that dataset. In cases where the other one data set is used, the estimation error might be considerable. In this study, the parameters are estimated by all available data sets without the use of only one specific data set and thus can be considered globally optimized. The cost function for the optimization is defined as the integrated mean squared estimation error, i.e., the difference between the values of the experimental and estimated rates. Based on quantitative error analysis, the root-mean squared errors of the global parameters show smaller values, approximately 25%–50%, than the values of the local parameters. In addition, bias is removed completely in the case of the globally estimated parameters. The parameter sets can be used as the reference default values of a red-tide model because they are optimal and representative. However, additional tuning of the parameters using the in-situ monitoring data is highly required. As opposed to the bioassay data, it is necessary because the bioassay data have limitations in terms of the in-situ coastal conditions.展开更多

The design incorporates a modified broadband dispersion compensating structure, optimized for operation across the E, S, C, and L communication bands within a wavelength range spanning 1360 nm to 1625 nm. Notably, the CT-PCF demonstrates a remarkable birefringence of 2.372 × 10-2 at 1550 nm, surpassing traditional PCF structures. Single-mode performance is evaluated using the Higher Order Mode Extinction Ratio (HOMER) method, revealing a peak HOMER value of 104 at 1550 nm. Furthermore, at 1550 nm, the CT-PCF exhibits exceptional nonlinear characteristics, featuring a high nonlinearity of 50.74 W-1⋅Km-1 for y polarization. In comparison to existing designs, the proposed CT-PCF exhibits superior performance metrics and optical characteristics. Additionally, the y polarization dispersion coefficient of the CT-PCF at 1550 nm is measured at -3534 ps/(nm⋅km). Overall, the CT-PCF represents a significant advancement, outperforming established systems in terms of performance metrics and optical properties.展开更多

The simple method of PBEE encompasses three areas of seismic risk which include seismic hazard, structural analysis, and loss models. The aim of the PBEE process, entitled as FEMA P-58, is to present essential data needed to make a rational decision regarding predicted performance, where various sources of uncertainties are involved. In developing countries, the lack of suitable real ground motions corresponding to site characteristics and seismicity particularly for larger intensities and the scarcity of demands, which makes it hard to identify the seismic capacity of a structure, is the main our motivation of using the FEMA method. In this paper, the method of FEMA P-58 is investigated, in terms of available tools and required data, in such a way that it will be applicable for developing countries which are located in high seismic hazard zones. To achieve this goal, three steel moment-resisting buildings with low and high ductility, and three steel braced-frame buildings are selected as case studies. The mean annual loss is estimated by the available software, Performance Assessment Calculation Tool (PACT). The achieved results, i.e. the loss curves, will provide a simple means by which the engineers can quantify and communicate seismic performance to other stakeholders. In the case study buildings, the braced one has less annual losses in comparison with other investigated cases, and the structure with high ductility can be considered as the next ones. Execution cost of each building should be considered by contractors. Also, seismic fragility curves of structures for various limit states, as well, the corresponding loss models are identified as the most essential data towards application of the investigated PBEE process.展开更多
