Spanning across the Great East Road campus, UNZA has established one of the most extensive computer networks in Zambia, serving a burgeoning community of over 20,000 active users through a Metropolitan Area Network (MAN). However, as the digital landscape continues to evolve, it is besieged with burgeoning challenges that threaten the very fabric of network integrity—cyber security threats and the imperatives of maintaining high Quality of Service (QoS). In an effort to mitigate these threats and ensure network efficiency, the development of a mobile application to monitor temperatures in the server room was imperative. According to L. Wei, X. Zeng, and T. Shen, the use of wireless sensory networks to monitor the temperature of train switchgear contact points represents a cost-effective solution. The system is based on wireless communication technology and is detailed in their paper, “A wireless solution for train switchgear contact temperature monitoring and alarming system based on wireless communication technology”, published in the International Journal of Communications, Network and System Sciences, vol. 8, no. 4, pp. 79-87, 2015 [1]. Therefore, in this study, a mobile application technology was explored for monitoring of temperatures in the server room in order to aid Cisco device performance. Additionally, this paper also explores the hardening of Cisco device security and QoS which are the cornerstones of this study.展开更多

To improve the analysis speed and accuracy, two calibration models are built with the support vector machine method: one considering the whole spectra and the other based on the segmental spectra input. Considering the results of the multiple linear regression analysis, three segmental spectra are chosen as the input variables of the support vector regression (SVR) model. Compared with the results of the SVR model with the whole spectra input, the relative standard error of prediction is reduced from 3.18% to 2.61% and the running time is saved due to the decrease in the number of input variables, showing the robustness in rapid soil analysis without the concentration gradient samples.展开更多

Within the solutions of daily observation, outliers are detected and removed to avoid any potential misinterpretation of the results and then the deformation can be extracted by the coordinate differences between the two consecutive solutions. Meanwhile, because of the special location of a rover station in mining areas, the satellite geometry may be insufficient for a reasonable PPP solution, and the multipath impact an also be significant. Therefore, it is necessary to predict the satellite geometry before any daily observation. To evaluate the ability of extracting the deformation using the PPP-based method, various quality measures were introduced. Precise measurement of the beam energies at the exit of the RFQ and the DTL is critical for DTL commissioning. Two button-type beam position monitors(BPMs) installed downstream of the RFQ are used to perform the measurement using a time-of-flight method. The effects of several factors on phase measurement accuracy are analyzed. The phase measurement accuracy of the BPMs at CPHS is better than ± 1.03° at 325 MHz after corrections, corresponding to an energy measurement error of± 0.07%. The beam energy measured at the exit of the RFQ is 2.994 ± 0.0022 MeV,which is consistent with the design value.展开更多

Tetrachloroethylene, also known as perchloroethylene (PCE), is an excellent solvent for organic materials. PCE is volatile, highly stable, non-flammable and widely used in dry cleaning. A new method has been developed for measuring TCE and PCE in ambient air in real-time. Based upon the chemical fingerprinting and concentration levels, the method was able to isolate the source of the emissions to the responsible facility. Real-time monitoring was accomplished by utilizing a low pressure chemical ionization source (LPCI) interfaced to a tandem mass spectrometer (TAGA). Monitoring the response of specific parent/daughter ion pairs, the TAGA was used to measure concentrations of TCE and PCE. By optimizing various TAGA parameters, detection limits (DL) as low as 0.5 μg/m3 was achieved for TCE and PCE. Unlike methods using cartridge sampling and GC/MS analysis, this new method provides a real time measurement for a wide range of TCE and PCE concentrations. This unique method was applied in 2000 and 2002 to measure TCE emitted from a manufacturer of stainless steel tubing in Eastern Ontario. The maximum half-hour average concentration of TCE measured downwind of the facility was 1300 μg/m3 and the maximum instantaneous level was measured at 115,000 μg/m3. The information collected by the TAGA unit was used by the Standard Development Branch of Ontario Ministry of the Environment to adopt the half-hour Point of Impingement (POI) standard of TCE to be 36 μg/m3 in 2010. This method successfully identified and simultaneously measured TCE and PCE during a 2011 air monitoring survey of a hazardous waste disposal and treatment facility in Southern Ontario.展开更多

Because of higher geotechnical risks in retreat mining operations,it was both important to develop panel layout designs that control convergence and stress and to monitor ground response during operations to verify designs and provide warning of impending stability problems. For detecting both localized roof stability problems and global overburden col- lapse mechanisms, the proposes an integrated panel-wide monitoring system which com- bines the capabilities of load rate monitoring of mobile roof supports (MRSs) with deforma- tion measurements using an extensive array of sensors located near the mining face and throughout the panel. Two monitoring methods for the detection of localized roof stability problems have been evaluated on the basis of mine measurements and numerical model- ing considerations. These are load rate monitoring of the hydraulic cylinders of mobile roof support (MRS) and re mote monitoring of roof movements.Analyses of field data in retreat sections show that roof instabilities are influenced by: (1) pillar failure,(2) pillar yielding,(3) mine seismicity (bumps),(4) geologic structures, and (5) panel layout designs and practice. Pillar yielding and unloading can be conveniently monitored by the load rate monitoring device, but to detect impending localized roof falls, additional ground deformation meas- urements are needed near the mining face.By increasing the number of deformation measurements in the entire panel, additional safeguards can be achieved for detecting overburden collapse mechanisms while continuously monitoring local roof stability close to the retreat line.展开更多

Because handover location technology is one kind of pattern matching based location technologies, offiine handovex location positioning is an essential problem to be studied for successfully matching mobile probes on GIS map. Offline handover location positioning method involves two stages, handover location positioning respectively via two weighted models and an optimized model based on the intermediate results obtained in the first stage. A preliminary field test is conducted on a stretch of freeway in the inner suburban region in Beijing, and performance evaluation results show that the proposed method is superior to standard least square model in location accuracy and location precision, which is an effective method of offline handover location positioning.展开更多

文摘The use of mobile laser scanning to survey forest ecosystems is a promising, scalable technology to describe forest 3D structures at high resolution. To confirm the con-sistency in the retrieval of forest structural parameters using hand-held laser scanning(HLS),before operationalizing the method, confirming the data is crucial. We analyzed the per-formance of tree-level mapping based on HLS under differ-ent phenology conditions on a mixed forest in western Spain comprising Pinus pinaster and two deciduous species,Alnus glutinosa and Quercus pyrenaica. The area was surveyed twice during the growing season(July 2022)and once in the deciduous season(February 2022)using several scan-ning paths.Ground reference data(418 trees,15 snags)was used to calibrate the HLS data and to assess the influence of phenology when converting 3D data into tree-level attrib-utes(DBH,height and volume). The HLS-based workflow was robust at isolating tree positions and recognizing stems despite changes in phenology.Ninety-six percent of all pairs matched below 65 cm.For DBH,phenology barely altered estimates. We observed a strong agreement when comparing HLS-based tree height distributions. The values exceeded 2 m when comparing height measurements, confirming height data should be carefully used as reference in remote sensing-based inventories, especially for deciduous species.Tree volume was more precise for pines(r=0.95,and rela-tive RMSE=21.3–23.8%)compared to deciduous species(r=0.91–0.96,and relative RMSE=27.3–30.5%).HLS data and the forest structural complexity tool performed remark-ably,especially in tree positioning considering mixed forests and mixed phenology conditions.
文摘The 13-MeV proton linac of the Compact Pulsed Hadron Source(CPHS) at Tsinghua University, China,is composed of a 50-keV electron cyclotron resonance proton source, a 3-MeV four-vane-type radio-frequency quadrupole(RFQ) accelerator, and a drift tube linac(DTL). The beam energy measured at the exit of the RFQ is 2.994 ± 0.0022 MeV,which is consistent with the design value.
文摘The global system for mobile communication(GSM)is planned to meet the needs of the whole subscribers. The number of subscribers increased as the population increased due to the acceptance of GSM services by the subscribers. Thus, there should be a way to monitor base stations that will meet the increasing demand of subscribers in any area as a population surge will lead to more subscriptions. This will allow GSM network operators to serve their subscribers better and ease network congestion. This work presents a review of mobile evolution from the first generation to the fifth generation.A review of global positioning system(GPS)technology and its applications to geographic information systems(GIS)was done. The coordinates of these base stations were taken using a GPS device. These base station coordinates were then exported to QGIS for the design of the map.Thereafter, the output map was then integrated into the website. The discussions on the results followed and some useful suggestions given will go a long way to help the operators of GSM in Nigeria and in general. If the propositions given are adhered to,it will go a long way to help the operators reduce congestion on their network and thereby increase the satisfaction of the subscribers.

文摘Since 2002, the Soil and Water Conservation Bureau, which is responsible for the conservation and administrative management of hillside in Taiwan, has been cooperating with Feng Chia University. Together, they have successfully carried out the establishment and maintenance of 13 fixed debris flow monitoring stations over the island and 2 mobile debris flow monitoring stations. During July 2004, a powerful southwest air current brought by Mindulle Typhoon caused serious flood in central and southern Taiwan. This paper aims to describe the establishment of debris flow monitoring systems in Taiwan and the observation of the debris flow event during Mindulle Typhoon at Aiyuzi River in Shenmu Village, Nantou County by the monitoring station.
文摘Trichloroethylene (TCE) is a chlorinated liquid that is commonly used for metal degreasing, household and industrial dry cleaning, and in paints and glues. This method successfully identified and simultaneously measured TCE and PCE during a 2011 air monitoring survey of a hazardous waste disposal and treatment facility in Southern Ontario.

文摘Through cooperative research between the government, the private sector, mining companies and equipment manufacturers, considerable progress had been made during the last decade in studying the mechanics of strata failure and acquiring the know- ledge needed to develop an integrated monitoring system for assessing local roof stability. Pillar yielding and unloading can be conveniently monitored by the load rate monitoring device, but to detect impending localized roof falls, additional ground deformation meas- urements are needed near the mining face.By increasing the number of deformation measurements in the entire panel, additional safeguards can be achieved for detecting overburden collapse mechanisms while continuously monitoring local roof stability close to the retreat line.

文摘Handover location technology was employed for collecting road traffic information in a number of field projects, and the project results demonstrate that it is a supplementary and promising means of road traffic information collection for further traffic supervision and maintenance. A preliminary field test is conducted on a stretch of freeway in the inner suburban region in Beijing, and performance evaluation results show that the proposed method is superior to standard least square model in location accuracy and location precision, which is an effective method of offline handover location positioning.
