Thirty-two Hu lambs with inihtial weight of 22.20 ( ±0.75 ) kg were randomly assigned to one of four treatments: basal diet without additive (control), added with yeast culture at 15 g/head/d (YEC), YEC plus Bacillus licheniformis preparation at 2. 3 g/head/d (YBL) or plus Clostridium butyricum preparation at 2. 3 g/head/d (YCB). The feeding trial lasted 75 d with 15 d for adaptation. Feed intake was not influenced (P 〉0. 05) by treatment. Average daily gain of growing lambs was 102, 114, 90, and 89 g/d in control, YEC, YBL, and YCB, respectively, with no significant difference (P 〉 0.05) among treatments, but the carcass weight of YEC lambs was significantly higher (P 〈 0.05) than that of other treatments. Total volatile fatty acids and acetate to propionate ratio in the rumen were unaffected, although the butyric acid concentration was higher ( P 〈 0.05 ) in the ru men fluid of YCB lambs compared with YEC lambs and slightly higher ( P 〉 0. 05 ) than in controls and YBL lambs. Solid-associated fungi population relative to total rumen bacteria 16S ribosomal DNA was significantly lower ( P 〈 0. 05 ) in YBL lambs (3.55) compared with those on YCB (23.12). There was little difference in blood glucose and plasma urea-N concentrations among the treatments. Blood concentrations of creatinine and globulin were significantly higher (P 〈0.05) in YBL lambs, compared with the control and YEC-fed animals, and no difference with YCB lambs. Total protein and triglycerides in blood were significantly (P 〈 0.05) higher in YBL lambs, compared with controls. These serum biochemical parameters suggest that treatment increased amounts of absorbable protein but not efficiency of protein utilization and in YBL and YCB lambs. The results indicated that yeast culture improve growth performance, while little advantage could be expected from combining yeast culture with either the B. licheniformis preparation or C. butyricum preparation. More research using lower doses of B. licheniformis prepara- tion or C. butyricum preparation in combination with yeast culture is warranted.展开更多

Tilapia fingerlings (mean weight 8.5 ± 0.36 g) were stocked at densities of 120, 180 and 360 fish/m3 for 10 weeks. During culture, fish were fed a diet contains 35% protein made of peanut seed, cottonseed, wheat bran, and Sorghum. The results showed that the increase in fish density reduced the final weight of the fish. The percentage of the fish weight increased and reached 111% ± 1.45% in the lowest fish density (120 fish/m3), 79% ± 1.87% in the medium density (240 fish/m3), and 63% ± 2.03% of high fish density (360 fish/m3), therefore the daily growth rate was better in the lowest density. The rate of food conversion ratio was also better in the lowest density with 2.17 ± 0.33, followed by the medium density with 2.79 ± 0.28 and then the highest density with 3.09 ± 0.21. However, the total production in the cage increased with increasing fish density, and the return to the cost of food was better with higher fish density. According to various performance evaluation criteria, it can be concluded that the medium density 240 fish/m3 is the best for growing Nile tilapia fingerlings in floating cages. It was observed that the growth rates of the three treatments were low due to the decrease in water temperature in most of the study period, which may indicate the useless of culture in cages in the winter season.展开更多

During the process of translation, I try to use specific words or local dialect to differ one person from another. Sometimes, I make one person's language less colloquial which is consistent with his own personality. When encountering some cultural barriers that would make audience confused, I adopt domestication to translate the dialogue. I will add some explanatory words to make audience get to know it and free translation to avoid cultural confusion. In this commentary, six examples are given to show my strategies of translating this book.展开更多

In experiment 1, 32 Chinese Holstein cows with relatively similar body condition, lactation number and days in milk were selected. The cows were assigned in a randomized complete block design trial to determine the effect of supplemental Bacillus cultures to diet on production performance in dairy cattle. Four treatments, i.e., Bacillus licheniformis (strain number 1.813) group, Bacillus subtilis (strain number 1.1086) group, Bacillus cereus var. mycoides (strain number 1.260) group and control group. Each treatment had eight replicates, each replicate had one cow, 50 g per head per day. Results showed that Bacillus licheniformis group increased the milk yield (P〈0.05). The other two groups didn't have significant effect on milk yield than the control group (P〉0.05). In experiment 2, 3 Chinese Holstein cows with permanent fistulas were used. 3×3 Latin squares were assigned to three diets: Bacillus lincheniformis culture, Bacillus subtilis culture and control. Bacillus licheniformis culture increased total rumen microorganism (P〈0.05), decreased the ammonia N concentration at 2, 4 h (P〈0.05). Bacillus licheniformis culture increased the total volatile fatty (P〉0.05), increased the rate of acetic acid to propionic acid (P〉0.05). Bacillus licheniformis culture decreased the methane production (P〈0.05).展开更多

Without forgetting that interculturality is defined according to Cassany (2016) as an ideological current that is that each language of the world is a representative tool at the service of a culture and that said culture in a society is a mental and attitudinal representation to the world where a certain society is based. Then interculturality seeks to develop intercultural skills in the users of languages (Anglo-Hispanic).展开更多

The review of literature provided conceptual and empirical gaps that formed the basis of the conceptual hypotheses. Two hypotheses were deduced from general objective: Intellectual capital has a significant influence on corporate performance; corporate culture moderates the relationship between intellectual capital and corporate performance. A cross-section research design was adopted. A survey questionnaire was the main tool of data collection and was distributed to the 50 heads of human resource departments in the different firms' period covering four financial years from 2009 to 2012. The study also utilized secondary data obtained from Capital Market Authority Statistical bulletins and Nairobi Securities Exchange Handbook 2012-2013 to collect data on financial performance (ROA, ROE, and Dividend Yield). Data were tested for reliability results showing that study dimensions were reliable, apart from task-oriented culture that had a Cronbach alpha of 0.262, thus being not considered for further analysis; thus the study relied on employee-oriented culture as a measure of corporate culture. The hypotheses were tested using multiple regression analysis and hierarchical regression respectively. Multiple regression analysis showed that intellectual capital had a significant influence on non-financial performance and no significant influence on financial measures of performance (ROA, ROE, and Dividend Yield). Test for moderation showed that the interaction term was not significant and thus, employee-oriented culture did not moderate the relationship between intellectual capital and corporate performance. The study demonstrates importance of the influence of intellectual capital on non-financial performance of firms listed on Nairobi Securities Exchange. The results show that interplay among human capital, social capital, and organization capital is important for firms listed on Nairobi Securities Exchange and that the firms should nurture the employees into sharing their knowledge by creating internal and external networks and also creating support system within the organization to retain the knowledge.展开更多

Most description of the performing arts is written by men with an exclusive male perspective. Little or no attempt has been made to explore women lives in performing theatre apart from their assigned role as physical crowd-pullers. This study presents how symbols are used to communicate, as each member of theatre community uses entire repertoire to convey messages, manual gesticulations, body gestures, facial expressions, dance patterns, a particular dress etc. at the cultural level. The central idea of this study is how artists use the body in performance to imagine and enact culture, values, humor, selfhood, and the complex relations among them. It discusses their real backstage life experiences and problems faced as well how and what type of contact they maintain with their audience and admirers. What are their moral values and what kind of social dilemmas they face, how the sexuality of theatre women is being controlled, their fears emotions, distress of theatre women etc. are the major research questions. In short, this anthropological inquiry takes into account all relevant social, cultural, political, economic, and religious dimensions of performing art.展开更多

One of its municipalities, Minalin, is considered as one of its major centers of production. This study aims to determine the impacts of climate change hazards on the economic performance of tilapia-intensive pond culture in Minalin, Pampanga considering the threats to the industry, livelihoods, and food security. Results revealed that the economic performance of tilapia pond operations using semi-intensive large-scale culture was affected by climate change, as reflected in the reduction of yield among tilapia pond operators. This makes intensive tilapia pond farming in Minalin still a viable venture but will now require more than a year to pay for investment (variable and fixed) costs if under climate change risks. The study recommends strengthening capacity building related to climate-smart tilapia farming technologies for pond operators and to implement appropriate technologies to address climate change risks.展开更多

Yet, while Bangladesh has had a long history of university teaching, pedagogy has hardly entered the imagination of university educators. At the university level, pedagogical training would address cultural hindrances to students' advanced learning. Today's teachers are yesterday's students, with each generation being groomed in the same cultural patterns of learning that are continually repeated without examination. At the same time, the majority of faculties lack pedagogical methods for adjusting their teaching framework to accommodate the diversity of students' worldviews to nurture knowledge progression in classroom settings. Importantly, students acquire cultural practices of rote learning and memorization by way of lectures and homework that parrots texts and lectures. Many faculties are unaware that the purpose of a university is to stimulate new ideas and knowledge, provoke assumptions, and teach and encourage critical thinking. The pedagogical challenge also derives from Bengali culture, from which teachers assume a hierarchical mindset and attitude that is counter-productive to students' learning.展开更多

The narratives encompassed by both productions revolve around shared Australian histories, for audiences attracted by place and what it is able to represent. Re-enactments of past events call into the present a consideration of what still remains, with both shows enabling new subjective interpretations of earlier times. The defining difference between the two, however, rests in the context of each performance, in the one case as a commodification of heritage and in the other case as the desire to produce an artistic yet popular theatrical product. Ballarat's, Sovereign Hill's light and sound show, Blood on the Southern Cross celebrates and commemorates, in mega-spectacle style, the Eureka Stockade, one of Australia's key historical events. Using a mechanised display of the original goldmining site of the Eureka rebellion, the performance is operated by computers with video-projection, multi-phonic sound, and moving model forms, with audiences moved around the massive site on transporters. The Piccolo Tales, a contrasting performance most notably in terms of size, unfolds the history of Kings Cross, through its setting in the miniscule iconic Piccolo Bar, in one of the tiny side streets of Sydney's bustling and densest suburb. This paper encompasses an investigation of how the cultural inscriptions of the two specific sites interweave with the performance styles, materials, political and social positioning of the works. Previous performance studies examining site-specificity are utilised, including the author's analysis of particular festival performances as "place-making" (Hayes, 2012, 2013). Smith's (2009) model of "signposts" is used to consider acting within site-specific productions in a new light, whilst both performances are more completely analysed through Schneider's (2011) concept of incomplete pasts forming "cycles of memory".展开更多

The secret for the pedagogy of performing another culture to be successful lies in integrating with the theoretical knowledge in other disciplines and fields and promoting the development of the second language pedagogy to a broader space. In this process, the"meme theory"in the field of biology is a theoretical method absorbed and very outstandingly implemented by the pedagogy of performing another culture,so it is worth borrowing and introducing and also is of great significance in language acquisition.展开更多

The authors explore two pillars of the strategy. One is to improve the quality of Japanese traditional performing arts by securing incomes for artists. The other is to utilize the traditional arts as a medium to expand Japanese cultural influence in foreign countries and to improve Japan's branding as a nation. First, the authors focus on the income security system practiced in traditional Japanese music and describe the discrepancy between short- and long-run optimality. The authors prove that the reputation of this art form affects its popularity and that it is optimal for the Iemoto (the head of the music school) to restrict the number of pupils in onstage performances in order to maintain stage quality. Second, the authors provide evidence that effective methods for a country to expand its cultural influence across the world differ among nations. The authors conduct willingness-to-pay (WTP) experiments and find that while German audiences largely prefer traditional Japanese music, those in the USA are slightly partial to its mixed fusion form. Therefore, the effective ways to expand Japanese cultural influence in foreign countries differ from one country to another.展开更多

Corporations’ business activities should not only focus on maximizing its economic profit but also serve the society. With the awareness of the importance of social responsibility, there are an increasing number of public corporations in China to undertake more charitable activities or employee training activities. There have been a lot of academic researches investigating the relationship between corporate social responsibilities and corporate financial performance. However, the results are inconsistent and vary according to different industries. This study chose Chinese culture, sports and entertainment industry as a sample to test the relationship between CSR and corporate financial performance. Four financial ratios were used to test whether the caproate’s reasonability to government, employee, investors and society has significant impact on its financial performance. The empirical results show that apart from the responsibility to employees which is negatively influence the corporate financial performance the other three factors are found not significantly influence corporate financial performance.展开更多

文摘Based on the guidelines set by Ningbo Theatre who asked me to translate translations and features of performance-oriented drama, this commentary will deal with how I translate characters and cultural specific items from prospective of skopos theory and explain the reason why I translate it this way.I am required to present vivid characters and bridge the cultural gap while translating. In this commentary, six examples are given to show my strategies of translating this book.
文摘When the demographics in American public schools became more diverse, educators have faced the challenge of working with diverse student learners. In the education field, culturally relevant pedagogy has been widely recognized as an effective practice for teaching about diversity and is used across different school subject areas. This article discusses the four aspects in which teachers can implement culturally relevant pedagogy in TPRS language classrooms:a caring learning community, establishing meaning, story asking, and story reading.Teachers can include and empower students by validating them as learning subjects and engaging them in knowledge creation and representation in curriculum and instruction. The goal is to develop academic success, culture and identity, equity, and excellence for all student learners in a multicultural and global society.

文摘Two parts were involved in this experiment. Bacillus licheniformis culture decreased the methane production (P〈0.05).
文摘In the current field of action of the pedagogy of languages, efficient, inclusive and dynamic teaching methods are needed; just this work will present the intercultural method through didactic evidences (pedagogical sequences) that have proved their functionality in the teaching rooms of the English in a Spanish-speaking context, as is Mexico. Without forgetting that interculturality is defined according to Cassany (2016) as an ideological current that is that each language of the world is a representative tool at the service of a culture and that said culture in a society is a mental and attitudinal representation to the world where a certain society is based. Then interculturality seeks to develop intercultural skills in the users of languages (Anglo-Hispanic).
文摘The broad objective of this study was to establish the moderating effect of corporate culture on the relationship between intellectual capital and organizational performance of firms listed on Nairobi Securities Exchange. The results show that interplay among human capital, social capital, and organization capital is important for firms listed on Nairobi Securities Exchange and that the firms should nurture the employees into sharing their knowledge by creating internal and external networks and also creating support system within the organization to retain the knowledge.
文摘The proposed paper focuses on art as a form of cultural expression and it presents data based on ethnographic information of famous Pakistani musical theatres in Lahore, Province of Punjab. In short, this anthropological inquiry takes into account all relevant social, cultural, political, economic, and religious dimensions of performing art.
文摘Pampanga is the top tilapia-producing province in Philippines. The study recommends strengthening capacity building related to climate-smart tilapia farming technologies for pond operators and to implement appropriate technologies to address climate change risks.
文摘Pedagogy teaches teachers how to teach, so that they may effectively teach students how to learn; it offers important training for teachers to transform students from mere parrots of information into challengers of and innovators of knowledge. The pedagogical challenge also derives from Bengali culture, from which teachers assume a hierarchical mindset and attitude that is counter-productive to students' learning.
文摘This paper aims to compare and contrast two site-specific performance productions, both designed to grapple with processes of cultural remembrance, whilst also operating as successful tourist attractions. Smith's (2009) model of "signposts" is used to consider acting within site-specific productions in a new light, whilst both performances are more completely analysed through Schneider's (2011) concept of incomplete pasts forming "cycles of memory".

文摘In strengthening the multi-disciplinary and multi-angle cooperation, the theoretical analysis of linguistics can be improved to a newlevel and also the study of language acquisition can be expanded to a wilder field of view. The secret for the pedagogy of performing another culture to be successful lies in integrating with the theoretical knowledge in other disciplines and fields and promoting the development of the second language pedagogy to a broader space. In this process, the"meme theory"in the field of biology is a theoretical method absorbed and very outstandingly implemented by the pedagogy of performing another culture,so it is worth borrowing and introducing and also is of great significance in language acquisition.
文摘The objective of this paper is to examine an effective strategy for maintaining and utilizing the traditional arts resources of Japan. Therefore, the effective ways to expand Japanese cultural influence in foreign countries differ from one country to another.
文摘Since 2006, the public corporations in China are required to include its social responsibilities in its annual report by company law. The empirical results show that apart from the responsibility to employees which is negatively influence the corporate financial performance the other three factors are found not significantly influence corporate financial performance.
