Language learning is a complicated process which is influenced by many factors,including cognitive factors,environmental factors and affective factors.The importance of affective factors in language learning has gaine...Language learning is a complicated process which is influenced by many factors,including cognitive factors,environmental factors and affective factors.The importance of affective factors in language learning has gained increasing attention in recent years.Based on the affective filter hypothesis(Krashen,1985),this study mainly investigates four important affective factors,namely,attitude,character,inhibition,and teacher-student empathy.Through a questionnaire survey,this study analyzes the current situation of learning affections of high school and college students,and compares their influence on second language acquisition.The results show that attitude,inhibition,and teacher-student empathy affected high school students more than college students,and character affected neither high school students nor college students.The results provide some implications for English teaching.展开更多

After a text-to-text discussion, most of the evidences show that age factor negatively correlates the second language acquisition. But the factors relate to the age, such as the learning styles, the motivation to learn, individual differences and learning environment. Some experts hold that the younger the better and would get good competence to learn language well, meanwhile others believe that adult have more strong motivation and competence.Based on the Brain Plasticity Theory and the Critical Period Hypothesis, and the intention of this thesis is to reveal such a hypothesis that the younger the learner who starts to learn a second language, the greater performance that he will achieve like a native does, through the comparative research between children and adults. The subjects are 100 Chinese learners who begin learning at different levels and ages. According to the results of integrated scores and a collection of the data in the questionnaire, an analysis show that the results acquired would be consistent with the hypothesis.The intention of this research is not only to argue which is better, earlier or later, but also an trial, through investigation and study, to provide some insights and suggestion to the existent issues, especially the children second language education and college English study in China.展开更多

From the perspective of individual learner differences,this paper aims to show the readers an outline of the influence of individual learner differences on written corrective feedback.Based on 200 eighth and ninth gra...From the perspective of individual learner differences,this paper aims to show the readers an outline of the influence of individual learner differences on written corrective feedback.Based on 200 eighth and ninth grade junior high school students’thinking patterns and tests,60 students were selected as subjects in this study.Based on the comparative analysis and error analysis in second language acquisition as the main theoretical basis,this study analyzed the common types of errors in the use of nonpredicate verbs in junior high school students and their causes.There are three main questions in this study:how about the error frequency of the five forms(present participle,past participle,infinitive,gerund and independent nominative structure)in the nonpredicate verb learning of junior high school students?What kind of mistakes do junior high school students make in the process of learning non-predicate verbs?According to the conclusion of the investigation and research,the author puts forward some suggestions from the aspects of teachers and students in the last part of the article.展开更多
