The coordinated evolution of ecological environment,public service,and tourism economy along the Silk Road Economic Belt,using the Dual-Carbon Targets

Carbon peak and carbon neutrality(dual-carbon)are important targets for the international response to climate change.The Silk Road Economic Belt is a strategic resource region and is important for future ecological environment and tourism development.Based on the“dual-carbon”targets,the Single index quantification,Multiple index synthesis,and Poly-criteria integration evaluation model were used in this study to measure the coordinated development index of the ecological environment,public service,and tourism economy along the Silk Road Economic Belt and to analyze its spatial and temporal evolution.Further,it explores the dynamic evolution and development trend of the three systems using the Kernel Density and Grey Markov Prediction Model.The results show that the coordinated development index along this region needs to be improved during the study period.Furthermore,the coordinated development index of the Southwest region is relatively higher than that of the Northwest region.From the development trend of the three systems,all of them develop in a stable manner;however,the tourism economy system is easily affected by external disturbances.The coordinated development index of the three systems changes dynamically and tends to be in a good state of coordination.There is a certain spatial and temporal heterogeneity.The gravity center of the coordinated development index has been in the Southwest region.During the forecast period,the coordinated development index along this region will improve significantly,while insufficient and unbalanced development will continue.

Vital Nodes Evolution Study on Railway Network of Silk Road Economic Belt

In order to study the nodes importance and its evolution process of the railway network of SREB (Silk Road Economic Belt), we construct the network (RNSREB) based on Graph Theory, which focuses on the time intervals according to actually railway network, railway project under construction and the national railway network of medium-and long-term plan. The algorithms for vital nodes evaluation are analyzed, the evaluation method on nodes importance of RNSREB is proposed, the quantized values of each node are calculated with Pajek, and TOP20 core nodes of the network with different coefficients and time intervals are determined respectively. Then the evolution process of TOP20 critical nodes with 4 periods is contrasted and analyzed. It is indicated that some vital nodes newly discovered (Geermu, Maduo, Ruoqiang) should be concerned.

Vital Nodes Study on Airway Network of Silk Road Economic Belt

In order to study the nodes importance of the aviation network of SREB (Silk Road Economic Belt), we construct the network (ANSREB) based on Graph Theory that focused on the actually situation of civil aviation transportation of SREB. We analyzed the evaluation algorithms for nodes importance, proposed the evaluation method for nodes importance of ANSREB;the quantized values of each node (Degree, Betweennesss, Closeness) are calculated with Pajek and traffic data, and determined TOP 20 critical nodes of the network on two different conditions respectively (without and within International routes). Then we contrasted and analyzed the reason that affects the ranking of those vital nodes, which has the character of highly concentration of business and dominant status.

A review of China’s overseas economic and trade cooperation zones along the Belt and Road:Progress and prospects

As a new mode for Chinese overseas investment and a growth pole for industrialization and urbanization of the host countries,the overseas economic and trade cooperation zone(OETCZ) or overseas free economic zone(OFEZ) of China plays an important role under the Belt and Road Initiative.With the rising attention on OETCZ,studies regarding OETCZ have also increased.However,there is a lack of studies reviewing this topic’s progress,challenges and future directions.This paper employs a systematic review to examine the literature on the OETCZ along the Belt and Road,based on domestic and overseas studies.The results show that domestic studies account for a large proportion of the collected literature,compared to overseas studies.Interdisciplinary research focus includes inductive case studies from a classification perspective,deductive studies based on cultural and institutional perspectives,trade network and bilateral trade relations based on the perspectives of international trade and regional economy,spatial planning studies from urban planning perspective,and overseas comments and earlier studies on Japan’s and Singapore’s overseas parks from the geopolitical and international political perspectives.Despite diverse research contents and dramatic progress,limitations exist in current OETCZ-related studies,including a lack of exploration of the mechanism,questions and concerns from overseas scholars,sustainable development and other problems.Future studies should broaden and deepen research insights,including the “overseas free economic zones(OFEZ)” as a general designation to cover all other types of OETCZs,studies on the primary conditions of host countries,exploration of the theoretical issues behind China’s OETCZ,comparative study of OETCZs such as management structures,profit models,environmental standards and legal systems as well as popular issues questioned internationally.

Throughout history, Silk Road played an important role with connecting more than 50 countries between its endpoints. Reviving this ancient trade route is a contemporary discussion among politicians. The revived Silk Road will facilitate strengthening of relationships in between countries that experienced harmony in history. The railways, transportation facilities, transnational gates, energy corridors, and natural gas pipelines that constitute the Silk Road will transform the region with improving its economy and bringing peace and economic prosperity. With recent developments, it witnesses the importance of geopolitical and historical ties in establishing contemporary alliances. Although there are great expectations with the revival of the modern Silk Road, authors would like to emphasize that it should be an agreement to foster shared interests rather than the interest of bigger partners.

Resources, Environment and Economic Patterns and Sustainable Development Modes of the Silk Road Economic Belt

The paper analyzes the distribution pattern of resources, ecological environment, society and economy, and holds that it is conducive to Silk Road countries to carry out Omni-directional and multi-level economic cooperation. Then the article puts forth main modes and paths of sustainable economic development for the Silk Road Economic Belt （SREB）： ecological civilization mode, regional economic integration mode, transportation economic belt mode and international tourism economic zone mode. Traffic Patterns in the Silk Road Economic Belt and Construction Modes for a Traffic Economic Belt across Continental Plates

Plans for the Silk Road Economic Belt （SREB） include construction of two axes, two belts and two radiated areas. As a significant national strategy for China, the emphasis is on the construction of roads and achieving economic agglomeration and radiation through the construction of traffic axes. Using published literature and data analyses, this paper studied current traffic patterns between China and other regions within the SREB from the perspective of rail, ocean and air transportation. With regard to existing problems and development prospects of these three types of transportation, we propose construction modes for the traffic economic belt across continental plates and that future construction within the SREB should consider key cities as joints and arterial traffic lines as development axes, promote connecting of joints by lines, advance deep construction through joints and axes, connect lines into net, and develop informationalized traffic economic belt on the basis of trans-regional cooperation.
