In this paper we use the Jacobian integral of the circular restricted three-body problem to establish a testing function of a moving testing particle when it moves like a planet. This function determines whether or not the particle will stay in a definite region ( which may be called 'stable region', SR). By means of checking with an electronic computer, we can find that the SR of quasicircular orbit of retrograde planet motion is much less than the SR of direct planet motion. It is the reason why the existence of a retrograde planet is very rare. 展开更多

The objective of this article was to carry out a statistical study of the occurrences of CMEs from solar cycles 23 and 24 and to deduce interpretations as a contribution to a greater understanding of heliosphere dynamics. Thus, from the statistical examination of the occurrences according to the phases it appeared that solar cycle 23 (SC23) counted 13207 occurrences of CMEs while 16510 were counted for solar cycle 24 (SC24). These occurrences of CMEs are correlated to the sunspot cycle because in each of these cycles we would note the predominance of the phase maximum (1478 for SC23 and 2338 for SC24) over the ascending phases (550 for SC23 and 1559 for the SC24) and descending (1197 for the SC23 and 1178 for the SC24) and these predominate on the minimum phase (206 for the SC23 and 834 for the SC24). However, the percentages per phase in each cycle show that SC23 was only predominant over SC24 at the maximum phase (43.08% for SC23 and 39.57% for SC24). From this correlation, some authors therefore suggest that the toroidal magnetic field would be the cause of the ejections of these CMEs. The annual statistical examination confirms the correlation with the sunspot cycle but nevertheless reveals in the descending phase of SC23 two unusual peaks in 2005 and 2007 and a drop-in sunspot activity of 42% from SC23 to SC24 while that we would note an increase in the activity of CME occurrences of 36% at SC24, thus suggesting that CMEs can occur without the toroidal magnetic field being the cause, particularly from the coronal holes. The seasonal statistical examination shows for its part that out of the total of 29717 occurrences of CMEs of the two cycles that spring (28%) was the most active than summer (25%) and summer over autumn (24%) and finally autumn over winter (23%) thus revealing that: The ascending phase of the cycle was only the most active during the winter seasons in spring and the descending phase only during the rest of the seasons. Finally, the monthly statistical examination of the occurrences of CMEs corroborates the seasonal statistical examination by the presence of two maximum peaks (May and October) and two minimum peaks (February and August). 展开更多

We report that vector magnetograph (VMG) observations of the solar photosphere are being carride out by the Solar Flare Telescope (SOFT) at BOAO. The VMG uses a narrow band Lyot filter (FWHM=0 125A) for Stokes parameter (I, Q, U, V) observations to obtain longitudinal and transverse fields. We have obtained a filter convolved line profile of Fe I 6302 5 for VMG by changing the central wavelength of the Lyot filter, which is consistent with the Sacremento Peak spectral atlas data. Using the line profile, we have determined calibration coefficients of longitudinal and transverse fields by the line slope method. Then we have compared vector fields of AR8422 observed at BOAO with those at Mitaka. The comparison shows that longitudinal fields are very similar to each other, but transverse fields are a little different. Finally, we present Hα and magnetic observations of AR8419 during its flaring activity (M3 1/1B). 展开更多

The results suggest that the length of solar cycle may be a useful indicator for drought/flood and strong earthquakes. When the solar activity strengthens, we see the length of the solar cycle shorten and more floods occur in South China and frequent strong earthquakes happen in the Tibetan Plateau, but the droughts in East China as well as the strong earthquakes in Taiwan and at the western boundary of China are very few. The opposite frequencies occur when the solar activity weakens. The current study indicates that the solar activity may play an important role in the climate extremes and behavior in the lithosphere. 展开更多

This paper describes an elaborate study on obtaining Ag/PMMA(polymethyl methacrylate)leaky hollow waveguide which has a large aperture and low loss in transmitting solar energy.Through analyses and comparison,a quartz capillary with the inner diameter of 2 mm was chosen as hollow waveguide.We used the xenon light source,which has the similar spectrum as the sunlight to test and analyze the performance of the Ag/PMMA leakage hollow waveguide.The results are consistent with the transmitted theory of the dielectric/metal leaky type well.Meanwhile,the Ag/PMMA leaky-type hollow waveguide in this work had good qualities.Therefore,it will be a satisfactory medium for solar energy transmission. 展开更多
