In view of traditional Chinese medicine, ‘‘healthy" state is a status of relative balance of Yin and Yang to keep our bodily homeostasis. If there are significant physical and/or psychological stressors, such as loss of a beloved one and failure in study or work, the body can no longer keep its own bodily condition balanced and subsequently enter a state of ‘‘sub-health"(sub-optimal health).‘‘unhealthy" body constitution such as ‘‘Dampnessheat", ‘‘Cold-dampness" and ‘‘Heat- or Cold- dryness"with a subnormal body temperature and humidity and clinical manifestations such as insomnia, malaise and overweight will be presented. Immediate, appropriate strategies such as modification of life-style and seeking medical treatment can prevent evolution of an illness.Otherwise, the body will enter a disease status with a‘‘pathological" body constitution of ‘‘Yin or Yang deficiency'', ‘‘Blood-stasis" and/or ‘‘Phlegm-dampness". To be complimentary with health promotion and disease prevention in Western medicine, understanding about an individual's body constitution, together with itsdeterminants(e.g., healthy eating and lifestyle behaviors), can contribute to a more proactive, holistic and individualized healthcare.展开更多

Providing quality maternal health care has the potential of preventing over 75% of maternal deaths. The quality of maternal health care requires the utilization of maternal health care quality standards. Objectives: The objective of this study was to determine the nurse-midwives knowledge and attitude toward the use of maternal health care quality standards. Methodology: This study was a descriptive cross-sectional survey carried out at Embu and Meru teaching and referral hospitals in Kenya, between August and December 2021. Eighty-five nurse-midwives working in the maternity unit participated in the study. Data was collected using a self-administered semi-structured questionnaire and analyzed using SPSS version 27.0. Pearson’s correlation coefficient and Chi-square at Alpha level of 0.05 were used to test the relationship between the variables which were the nurse-midwives knowledge, attitude, and use of the quality standards. Result: Most (84.7%, n = 72) nurse-midwives were female and 44.7% (n = 38) were aged 20 - 29 years. Majority (64.7%, n = 55) were diploma holders and almost half (44.7%, n = 38) had practiced for 1 - 9 years. The average score for knowledge was 5.0 with 69.4% (n = 59) having a score of <7. Most nurse midwives (88.2%, n = 75) supported the use of the standards even though only 67.1% (n = 57) indicated that they use them. The support for the standards is significantly related to the gender of the respondents and their duration in maternity. There was no significant association between knowledge and use of maternal health care quality standards (X2 = 0.433, r = -0.085). There is no association between support for the standards and their use (X2 = 0.008). Knowledge and attitude toward the maternal health care quality standards are not significantly associated (X2 = 0.156). Conclusion: The knowledge and attitude of the nurse-midwife neither influence each other nor do they influence the use of maternal health care quality standards.展开更多

The understanding of human rights is a natural requirement and the key. In domestic academia, human rights are considered natural rights and interpreted as “moral rights that everyone should enjoy as a human being”, hoping to provide theoretical support for the development of the system centered on the basic rights of citizens in China.Although it reveals the universal moral connotation of human rights, it does not cover the normative connotation of human rights as common international standards. Therefore, it is impossible to fully clarify the functional significance of the provision. It is conducive to scientifically clarifying the relationship between human rights and basic civil rights, better improving the institutional protection of human rights in China, and promoting the building of a community with a shared future for mankind to interpret human rights as common international standards that everyone should enjoy for human dignity based on the development of the international legal order under the Charter of the United Nations since the end of the World War Ⅱ.展开更多

The concept of sub-health has also been proposed in western medicine. Because of the lack of a specific standard, it is difficult to make clinical diagnosis and treatments for sub-health. Chinese medicine constitution theory has been widely accepted in China, and has a set of executable standards. This paper puts forward a new research method that connects the sub-health in western medicine and Chinese medicine constitution theory together. The potential relationships and influences between Chinese medicine constitution theory and sub-health were analyzed and key content and research progress were discussed. The research method in this paper will provide new ideas for sub-health research.展开更多

Storage conformity in selected health facilities was assessed by monitoring temperature using temperature data loggers mounted in the refrigerators for a period of 30 days. Results indicated almost half of the health facilities 48.5% visited, did not significantly (P = 0.031) comply with storage temperature (+2°C to +8°C) as per WHO requirement because all recorded Mean Kinetic temperature (MKT) > 8°C. In rural areas, 59.2% of visited health facilities adhered to the WHO recommended storage temperature while in urban areas only 31.6% complied. The study has established electricity failure in urban and lack of gas in rural areas coupled with absence of contingency plan as major challenges to WHO temperature conformity in storage of cold chain medicines in health facilities in Tanzania.展开更多

At Saitama Medical University Hospital, many medical staff members have been involved in treating patients with COVID-19. The Care Task Force was established in collaboration with physicians, medical staff, and clerical staff in the various hospital departments to strengthen infection control measures based on standard precautions. Methods: To determine the outcome of infection control measures, we administered anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibody tests and questionnaires to all 2461 employees including nonhospital workers, as a local standard, between June 29 and July 10, 2020. Results: Among the hospital workers, 698 (33.99%) had contact with patients with COVID-19 and 325 healthcare workers worked in specialized wards for the COVID-19, intensive care unit, and high-fever outpatient clinics. Positive for the anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibody were only 4 (0.16%) employees. Among them, the past histories of two employees were unknown, while the other two had a history of COVID-19 before the test and were not involved in the medical care of COVID-19 patients at our hospital. Conclusion: It is the first study assessing the seropositive rate in Saitama-prefecture, a bed-town of Tokyo. Compared with the local standard, we found that health care workers are not at risk for viral droplet transmission, especially with SARS-CoV-2 and even with the current pandemic, with infection control measures based on standard precautions. Based on our findings and with no clusters formed in our university and hospital, we continued current infection control measures.展开更多

The review includes many aspects of food safety regulation. China's trade policy is reviewed every two years. This paper analyses in detail the reviews of China's trade policy in 2006, 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2014. It focuses in particular on food safety laws and types of standards, alignment of domestic standards with international standards, the role of different domestic institutions, transparency and notification of food safety measures under the WTO agreements on Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures (SPS) and on Technical Barriers to Trade (TBTAgreement), import and export, and geographical indications (GIs). It concludes that the WTO TPRM can contribute, within its mandate, to reform of Chinese food safety laws and improvement of food safety in China. it notes that China has already undertaken substantial reforms of its system for regulating food safety. It recommends that China should continue to participate actively in the TPRM, follow its own path with regard to alignment and learn selectively from other WTO Members.展开更多

Four samples were collected from each pond both before the rain and after making it a total of thirty-two samples. Twenty-seven parameters were analyzed for in each of the samples. The result revealed that twelve parameters exceeded WHO standard before the rain while fourteen exceeded after the rain. There was significant increment in the values of the analyzed parameters after the rain when compared with the value before the rain as revealed by the Anova statistical tool. It was discovered that there was a major increase in the bacteriological parameters after the rain which implied the serious health impact. It was recommended that users who utilized these ponds for squeezing bitter leaf, processing cassava and washing meats etc. should do so with the caution so as not to expose people to health problems.展开更多

Objectives: To operationalize adolescent health services at primary health care level in a block of Maharashtra;assess impact of need based interventions on quality of services;and understand potential for scalability in the state. Methods: Adolescent and Youth friendly centers were established at primary health care settings and interventions such as health system strengthening, sensitizing gatekeepers, involving Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHAs), developing inter and intra-sectoral linkages, improving monitoring and evaluation were tested. Results: Over a period of 2009-2014, there was a steady increase in the number of clients attending the Adolescent and Youth Friendly Health Centers (A&YFHCs). Attitude of providers to address adolescents’ needs improved significantly. Successful interventions were networking with schools, colleges and Non Government Organization (NGOs), linkages with HIV program and Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS), and involvement of ASHAs. Conclusions: The study demonstrates that although health system has the primary responsibility of addressing health issues among adolescents;it has limitations in terms of its reach to adolescents and generating demand for services. There is a need to network with education sector, ICDS, NGOs working for adolescent health and development to work as a team and address the multifaceted needs of the adolescents. Such a strategy will be crucial while implementing the recently launched Rashtriya Kishor Swasthya Karyakram— the new national adolescent health programme in India.展开更多

文摘To practice the constitutional provision that “The state respects and protects human rights”, we should clarify its connotation. It is conducive to scientifically clarifying the relationship between human rights and basic civil rights, better improving the institutional protection of human rights in China, and promoting the building of a community with a shared future for mankind to interpret human rights as common international standards that everyone should enjoy for human dignity based on the development of the international legal order under the Charter of the United Nations since the end of the World War Ⅱ.
文摘With further development of the bio-psycho-social medical model, people began to re-examine the knowledge of disease and health. The research method in this paper will provide new ideas for sub-health research.

文摘Healthy full life cycle has become an important national strategy, which indicates that attention needs to be given to human health throughout the life course. The full life cycle includes the whole process of conception and birth, development, growth, aging, and death, which has been recorded in Yellow Emperor's Canon of Medicine. From the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) constitution theory, the TCM constitution focuses on the life process in a continuous evolution based on individual development at different phases or stages from infancy to senility. The development of TCM constitution is beneficial in accumulating the theoretical and practical experience for promoting the application of TCM constitution health service into the full life cycle, and providing theory, technique and method for TCM health service in the full life cycle,as well.Through this review,we've found that TCM constitution has being widely used for clinical practice, but still needs further improvement.
文摘A descriptive study on assessment of medicines cold chain storage conformity with World Health Organization (WHO) requirements in public health facilities was carried out in Dar es Salaam and Dodoma regions. The study has established electricity failure in urban and lack of gas in rural areas coupled with absence of contingency plan as major challenges to WHO temperature conformity in storage of cold chain medicines in health facilities in Tanzania.
文摘Germany,as a western developed country, has an advanced medical level, especially in the health care of very immature premature infants. We trace the medical history of perinatology to understand the development of perinatal centers in Germany. After analyzing the classification and function, hierarchical management and quality control systems of German perinatal centers,we established a German standard level 1 perinatal center in the Chongqing Health Center for Women and Children(CHCWC).During more than two years of practice,we changed concepts, continuously updated clinical knowledge and skills, developed a series o f high-quality work processes and supervision systems and introduced advanced medical equipment. We believe that the experience of establishing a German standard level 1 perinatal center and perinatal center network in Chongqing is worthy of being promoted to the Chinese maternal and child health care system.
文摘Introduction: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), is spread through person-to-person transmission and has become a global pandemic. Based on our findings and with no clusters formed in our university and hospital, we continued current infection control measures.

文摘Regional ecological health, the core of comprehensive ecosystem assessments,is an important foundation for regional exploration, environmental conservation, and sustainable development. The mountainous areas in southwest China are backward in economy, but industrialization and urbanization have been rapid in recent years. This study assessed the ecosystem health of the Sichuan and Yunnan provinces in China using a pressure-state-response(PSR)model.Spatiotemporal patterns of regional ecosystem health were analyzed from 2000 to 2016,including overall characteristics as well as local characteristics.Ecosystem health in most regions was improved over time(Y=0.0058 X–11.0132,R2=0.95,P<0.001),and areas with poorer ecosystem health decreased from half to one-third of the total area.Analysis of the primacy ratio and the variation coefficient confirmed that the gap in health scores between regions has gradually expanded since 2007,but there are more high quality regions overall(Z of Moran’s index<1.96,P>0.05).Overall,the regional ecosystems to the east of the Hu line-an imaginary line dividing east and west China into roughly equivalent parts-were healthier than those to the west. The pressure and state scores of ecosystems were determined by physiographic condition, and the response scores by government policies and social concern. The spatiotemporal patterns of ecosystem health were dominated to a greater extent by natural than anthropogenic factors, which explains why the shift in the patterns aligned with the direction of the Hu line.Dividing regions into key management areas based on natural geographical conditions and socioeconomic development could contribute to the formulation of a reasonable ecological and environmental protection policy, guaranteeing ecosystem services in the long run.

文摘Established within the framework of the World Trade Organization (WTO), the Trade Policy Review Mechanism (TPRM) reviews periodically the trade policies of all WTO Members. It recommends that China should continue to participate actively in the TPRM, follow its own path with regard to alignment and learn selectively from other WTO Members.
文摘Some physico-chemical and bacteriological parameters were analyzed for in the water samples of four different ponds located in Awka town both prior and after the rain to ascertain the impact of flood in these ponds and to establish whether the pollution was significant. It was recommended that users who utilized these ponds for squeezing bitter leaf, processing cassava and washing meats etc. should do so with the caution so as not to expose people to health problems.
文摘Background: Ministry of Health, Government of India developed the Adolescent Reproductive and Sexual Health (ARSH) strategy and operationalized adolescent health services up to district and sub-district hospital level. Such a strategy will be crucial while implementing the recently launched Rashtriya Kishor Swasthya Karyakram— the new national adolescent health programme in India.
