On Interpretation Teaching Strategies from the Perspective of Skopos Theory

In order to strengthen communications and cooperation with various fields of other countries, the demand for translators and interpreters has increased dramatically. At the same time, the quantity and quality of translators will be faced with more and more requirements of the employment market. Therefore, as a compulsory and main course for English majors in many colleges and universities, interpretation teaching has been challenged for a long time. How to train a great number of qualified interpreters rapidly and effectively has become an urgent issue. Based on reviewing the theory of Skopos theory and analyzing the status quo of interpretation teaching for undergraduate English majors, some new thoughts for interpretation teaching are proposed.

Application of Catastrophe Theory in 3D Seismic Data Interpretation of Coal Mine

In order to detect fault exactly and quickly, cusp catastrophe theory is used to interpret 3D coal seismic data in this paper. By establishing a cusp model, seismic signal is transformed into standard form of cusp catastrophe and catastrophe parameters, including time-domain catastrophe potential, time-domain catastrophe time, frequency-domain catastrophe potential and frequency- domain degree, are calculated. Catastrophe theory is used in 3D seismic structural interpretation in coal mine. The results show that the position of abnormality of the catastrophe parameter profile or curve is related to the location of fault, and the cusp catastrophe theory is effective to automatically pick up geology information and improve the interpretation precision in 3D seismic data.

The Ordinal Interpretation of the Integers and Its Use in Number Theory

The author recently published a paper which claimed that an ordinal interpretation of numbers had limited applicability for cryptography. A further examination of this subject, in particular to what extent an ordinal interpretation is useful for recurrence sequences, is needed. Hilbert favored an interpretation of the natural numbers that placed their ordinal properties prior to their cardinal properties [1] [2]. The author examines ordinal uses of the integers in number theory in order to discuss the possibilities and limitations of this approach. The author hopes this paper will be useful in clarifying or even correcting some matters that were discussed in his paper of January of 2018. I was trained informally in philosophical realism, and while I think idealism too has a place, at this time in my life I believe that the weight of evidence and usefulness is more on the side of philosophical materialism. I hope this discussion will help supplement for my readers the material in Number in Mathematical Cryptography. I still maintain that a lack of clarity on these matters has hindered progress in cryptography;and it has taken time for me to better understand these things. I hope others who have interest and ability will assist in making these matters clearer. My intention was to work in pure mathematics, and the transition to an applied mindset was difficult for me. As a result, I feel most comfortable in a more middle-of-the road attitude, but have had to slowly move to a more precise analysis of the physical quantities involved. I hope my readers will be patient with my terminology, which is still evolving, and my discussion of things which are more indirectly related, and which are necessary for my expression. These are important things for the mathematical community to understand, and I hope smarter and more knowledgeable people will address my errors, and improve upon the things I might have correct. I am discussing sequences which are sometimes a use of both ordinal and cardinal numbers.

Derivation of Multiverse from Universal Wave Function Interpretation of String Theory

The multiverse is a hypothesis created to solve certain problems in cosmology. Currently, this scheme is still largely ad hoc, rather than derived from fundamental laws and principles. Because of this, the predictive power of this theory is rather limited. Furthermore, there are concerns that this theory will make it impossible to calculate some measured quantities, such as the masses of quarks and the electron. In this paper, we will show that a new development in string theory, the universal wave function interpretation of string theory, provides a way to derive the mathematical expression of the multiverse. We will demonstrate that the Weyl invariance existing in string theory indicates that our observed universe is a projection from a hologram. We will present how the laws of physics can be derived from this fact. Furthermore, we suggest it may also provide a way to calculate the masses of fundamental particles such as quarks and the electron.

Inflation Scheme Derived from Universal Wave Function Interpretation of String Theory

Inflation is the most commonly accepted theory in cosmology to explain why the universe appears flat, homogeneous, and isotropic, as well as the origin of the large-scale structure of the cosmos and why no magnetic monopoles have been detected. However, so far, the origin of the inflation epoch and what is the hypothetical field, the inflation, giving rise to inflation, remains unknown. String theory is one of the promising candidates for the grand unification theory. Grand unification theory is to use one mathematic formula to describe everything. In this work, we study the inflation scheme in a new development in string theory, UWFIST （universal wave function interpretation of string theory）. We show that from UWFIST we can derive from the fundamental theory that the long-range vibration is the possible candidate of inflation. We estimate the vacuum energy created by the long-range vibration and show that it can indeed drive the inflation.

Insight of schema theory into interpretation practice

Schema is an important concept in cognitive psychology, referring to how different types of information are connected in our brain, and the process of activating stored information. In view of modern schema theory, this paper focuses on its application in the three stages of interpretation practice. Schema plays a role in preparation before interpretation, which includes enhancing the interpreter＇s linguistic competence, and enlarging his storage of background information; schema influences performance during interpretation in terms of comprehension and note-taking; summary after interpretation is to supplement original schema. With the guidance of schema theory, interpretation practice can be carried out in an effective way.

Application of Interpretive Theory to Business Interpretation

Interpretive theory brings forward three phases of interpretation: understanding, deverberlization and re-expression. It needs linguistic knowledge and non-linguistic knowledge. This essay discusses application of interpretive theory to business interpretation from the perspective of theory and practice.

Cognitive Interpretation of Synaesthesia Metaphors Based on Blending Space Theory

Recently the academia tends to take synaesthesia metaphor as a cognitive phenomenon and an important part of the research of cognitive linguistics since synaesthesia metaphor symbolizes the way we perceive the world and the way we think.Blending Space Theory is a theoretical framework interpreting the cognitive activities.The present paper attempts to divide the synaesthesia metaphor into two kinds;tries to obtain the cognitive interpretation of synaesthesia metaphors based on Blending Space Theory,and further deepens people’s understanding of the research object:synaesthesia metaphor.

Analysis on the Theory of Blow-up and Verification on Numerical Prediction of Heavy Rain in Sichuan Basin

By dint of V-3θ diagram from the Blown-up theory,a continuous heavy rain process in western Sichuan basin from July 14 to 17,2009 is analyzed in this paper.Situation field and precipitation of ECWMF and T213 are verified and discussed.Results show that V-3θ diagram can describe the heavy rain process accurately.Combining with additional conventional weather charts,experience and numerical forecast products,the heavy rain falling area is determined.The forecast accuracy of situation field of EC is significantly higher than that of T213 and the forecast accuracy of T213 for heavy rain forecast is relatively low.

Cognitive Study of English Death Euphemism Based on the Conceptual Integration Theory

Death euphemism is a pervasive language phenomenon,which is typical in the euphemism. This artical attempts to adopt Fauconnier and Turner's conceptual blending theory to illustrate the meaning construction and the cognitive interpretation of English death euphemism,and tries to explore its cognitive mechanism in order to provide a new theoretical perspective for its development.

Experiences of a Dilated Cardiomyopathy Patient Suffering to Maintain Life Partnership Based on Margaret Newman’s Theory

Background: Dilated cardiomyopathy is a refractory myocardial disease with a poor prognosis. Mrs. G experienced cardiopulmonary arrest during hospitalization. She constantly struggles with uncertainty and experiences immense mental suffering from her symptoms, treatments, anxiety, and prognosis. This condition requires appropriate nursing care. Purpose: This study, which is based on Margaret Newman’s theory, aims to clarify the experience of illness of Mrs. G who has dilated cardiomyopathy. Methods: This involved interpretive and dialectical praxis research. The researcher and Mrs. G formed a partnership through discussion. Hermeneutical analysis was performed on the discussion content. Results: The experience of illness of Mrs. G consisted of 6 phases: “Looking back on the shock of having an illness and receiving medical treatment”, “Looking back on one’s life until present”, “Confusion resulting from uncertainty”, “Self-insight”, “Recognizing one’s true feelings of wanting to live”, and “Commitment and decision to live”. Mrs. G could find a new self and expand her consciousness. Conclusion: Mrs. G found meaning in coping with her illness and discovered the value of living while accepting her own destiny. She connected to her own life and became more prepared to live with hope. Thus, partnership in nursing care according to Newman’s theory can benefit patients with distress from dilated cardiomyopathy. This nursing support can improve patient outlook.

Aristotle's Tragedy Theory and Its Application in the Analysis of A Dream of Red Mansions

Aristotle's theory of tragedy is advocated by many western scholars and has exerted tremendous influence on the modern play writing and tragic studies. The present thesis will use the theory of Aristotle to analyze the tragic plot in"A Dream of Red Mansions"in order to investigate whether there is any similarity between Chinese and western tragedies.

Monty Hall Problem and the Principle of Equal Probability in Measurement Theory

In this paper, we study the principle of equal probability (i.e., unless we have sufficient reason to regard one possible case as more probable than another, we treat them as equally probable) in measurement theory (i.e., the theory of quantum mechanical world view), which is characterized as the linguistic turn of quantum mechanics with the Copenhagen interpretation. This turn from physics to language does not only realize theremarkable extensionof quantum mechanicsbut alsoestablish the method of science. Our study will be executed in the easy example of the Monty Hall problem. Although our argument is simple, we believe that it is worth pointing out the fact that the principle of equal probability can be, for the first time, clarified in measurement theory (based on the dualism) and not the conventional statistics (based on Kolmogorov’s probability theory).

Geometrical Meaning of Time and the Theory of Relativity

New geometrical model of time is suggested where time of body’s motion is defined as the length of its trajectories in four-dimension space-time. Within suggested approach periodical motions in clocks correspond to definite length of four-dimension trajectories that is clocks appear to be standards for measurements of length in four-dimension space analogously as hard sticks are standards for measurements of length in three-dimension space. This means that space and time are entities of the same geometrical nature. A suggested interpretation of time leads to necessity of changes in general theory of relativity. These changes are unessential for body’s motion in weak gravitational field.

Interpreter’s Position in the Process of Interpretation

With the rapid development of globalization, the whole world interweaves unprecedentedly. The frequent global communication is in desperate need of qualified translators and interpreters which draws great attention and invokes discussion about the standard of translation. Is the widely acknowledged criterion—neutral position a possible and necessary regulation to justify professional translators? This essay will illustrate that the interpreters influenced by environment, culture and other factors can’t perform with an absolute neutral position. Furthermore, the creativity of interpreters, who conduct heuristic work instead of algorithmic and reduplicated work, play a pivotal role in qualified work and their long-term development on the basis of Skopos Theory and classical examples, which testifies that it is improper to regard neutral position as a significant standard to evaluate the quality of interpreters.

Analysis of Students’ Misconception Based on Rough Set Theory

The study analyzed students’ misconception based on rough set theory and combined with interpretive structural model (ISM) to compare students’ degree of two classes. The study then has provided an effective diagnostic assessment tool for teachers. The participants were 30 fourth grade students in Central Taiwan, and the exam tools were produced by teachers for math exams. The study has proposed three methods to get common misconception of the students in class. These methods are “Deleting conditional attributes”, “Using Boolean logic to calculate discernable matrix”, and “Calculating significance of conditional attributes.” The results showed that students of Class A had common misconceptions but students of Class B had not common misconception. In addition, the remedial decision-making for these two classes of students is pointed out. While remedial decision-making of two classes corresponded to structural graph of concepts, it can be found the overall performance of the Class B was higher than Class A.

Study on Features of Interpreting Courses and Interpreting Teaching Strategy of Postgraduate Interpreting Majors from the perspective of the Theory of Sense

With the ever-spreading of international globalization and much frequent communication among countries in politics, economics and culture. Interpretation which serves as communicative bridge between different languages, which has become an important inter-lingual communicative device. In order to meet the demand of the growing need for interpreting talents, more and more institutions of higher learning begin to set up translation and interpretation courses for undergraduate and graduate students. The thesis focuses on making a brief analysis on the present situation of interpreting courses of graduate students in Inner Mongolian Autonomous Region. The thesis is composed of three parts： the first part is a brief analysis of the interpreting features of graduate students in Inner Mongolia, the second part analyzes the principles of interpreting training from the perspective of interpretive theory. The third part is the suggestions for interpreting training so as to make a contribution to the teaching of interpreting in Inner Mongolia.

The Quantum Handshake: An Electric Charge/Transactional Interpretation of the Single Electron Double-Slit Experiment

A new and falsifiable realist interpretation of quantum mechanics is examined in relation to the sum over histories concept, pilot wave theory and the many-worlds interpretation. This electric charge/transactional model explains how the single electron double-slit experiment produces extremely localized endpoints from diffracted wavicles, why these endpoints are scattered around the entire surface of the absorber screen, and why these points of contact result in the characteristic fringe pattern as they accumulate. Advanced waves and substantive electric charge effects in the double-slit experiment are postulated, then this hypothesis is supported by a quantitative analysis of electron emission in comparison to lightning. The wider implications if advanced waves and electric charge distribution prove to be significant factors in the double-slit experiment are discussed, including possible parallels with meteorological and neurological phenomena.

An Analysis of Chinglish in Press Conference Interpretation——Case Study on the Interpretation of the 2nd guangdong International Consultative Conference(GICC)

This thesis aims at analyzing the Chinglish in press conference interpretation with context adaptation of Belgian linguist Jef Verschueren’s Adaptation Theory as the theoretical framework.In Adaptation Theory,context includes all kinds of factors that concern the environment in which the communication takes place,with non-linguistic factors like the physical world,the social world and the mental world playing an important role.Taking the press conference interpretation of the 2nd Guangdong International Consultative Conference as an example,the author attempts to prove the presumption that Adaptation Theory can be applied to spot and reduce the Chinglish in interpreting.It is concluded that the theory of adaptation to the mental world and social world can be applied to reduce the Chinglish of two particular kinds to the minimum level and achieve successful communication.

On Teaching of Interpreting from Interpretive Theory

This paper aims to explore teaching of interpreting nowadays by starting from the interpretive theory and its characteristics. The author believes that the theory is mainly based on the study of interpretation practice, whose core content, namely,"deverbalization"has made great strides and breakthroughs in the theory of translation; when we examine translation, or rather interpretation once again from the bi-perspective of language and culture, we will have come across new thoughts in terms of translation as well as teaching of interpreting.
