A Training Effect by Three-Month Watering on the Frontal Pole Activation of Healthy Older Adults

The effectiveness of training prefrontal lobe function for suppressing cognitive decline or improving cognitive function has been reported. Some epidemiological studies suggested that gardening activities can contribute to suppression of cognitive decline. In our previous studies using functional Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (fNIRS), we reported the possibility of frontal pole (FP) activation of healthy older adults during gardening activities in the quasi-laboratory setting. The objective of this study was to examine the impacts of a three-month continual practice of the watering task in the actual gardening settings on the FP activation of healthy older adults. The participants were 18 right-handed healthy older adults without a diagnosis of mild cognitive impairment or dementia (M = 71.7 years ± SD 5.0, range: 63 - 84 years) who lived independently at home. We asked the participants to continue watering at home for three months in the same way as the research task in the fNIRS measurement. After a three-month intervention, the participants’ task performance improved compared with that of pre-intervention. In addition, the Oxy-Hb values in the right lateral FP during the third trial in the post-intervention measurement were significantly greater compared with the pre-intervention measurement. This study suggested that even a gardening activity with a small number of processes such as watering, if the activity is continued for a certain period of time, can suppress the decline of the FP activation of healthy older adults. Combination of various gardening activities has the potential to be a further cognitive training for activating the FP.

Research capacity and training needs of nurses’in Shanghai,China:A multicenter,cross-sectional survey

Aims:The aim of this study is to investigate nurses’research capacity and related training needs in Shanghai to provide evidence to further nursing research training.Materials and Methods:A cross-sectional design with a convenience sample of 1226 clinical registered nurses,including the Nursing Research Capacity of Self-Evaluation Questionnaire and Research Training Needs Form,was recruited from 14 public hospitals in Shanghai,China.And the influencing factors of nurses’research capacity were analyzed.Results:The mean score of nurses’research capacity was(46.25±22.90)in Shanghai,that was at a low-to-medium level.The influencing factors of nurses’research capacity including age(F=15.983,P<0.001),education(F=20.738,P<0.001),professional title(F=6.993,P=0.001),working years(F=7.803,P<0.001),department(F=8.545,P<0.001),and position(F=−3.354,P=0.001).The most critical factor is the time to participate a study(P<0.001).And what the nurses demanded were writing skills,special lectures,and participating in colleagues’projects mostly.Conclusion:Nurse’s scientific research capacity still needs to be improved in Shanghai.The key to improving this situation is the individualized scientific research training and education for nurses and the practice of more participation in scientific research projects.

白居易从小就体现出早衰多病的短寿迹象,有很多关于这类题材的诗歌,他的身体书写值得我们注意。因为体弱而关注己身,产生短寿的忧虑,顺而采取慵懒的人生态度,这是白居易“中隐”思想形成的基本理路。白居易对于“慵”的书写是其身体书写中的重要内容,包括咏“慵”、咏“懒”在内的诗歌约有120多首,心安体适、身心慵懒既是“中隐”生活对他身心的滋养与改善,也是“中隐”思想的一种体现。同时,在“中隐”思想的影响下,白居易不仅积极接受了年老的事实,而且还超越了对于生老病死的忧虑,完成了身体观念的转变与超越。

思考-结对-分享教学模式在产科住培中的应用

目的 探究思考-结对-分享(think-pair-share,TPS)教学模式在产科住院医师规范化培训(简称“住培”)中的应用效果。方法 选择2022年1月—2022年12月在中国医科大学附属盛京医院产科参加住院医师规范化培训的30名住院医师为研究对象,根据不同住培带教方案分为观察组与对照组,各15名。对照组采用传统住培教学模式,观察组采用TPS教学模式进行带教,对比2组住培后技能理论成绩、批判性思维能力和学员满意度。结果 观察组理论成绩[(89.71±4.67)分]和实践考核成绩得分[(90.57±6.77)分]均高于对照组[(70.63±3.75)分、(68.44±4.76)分],差异有统计学意义(P <0.001)。观察组学员批判性思维能力测量表(critical thinking dispostion inventory-Chinese version,CTDI-CV)中思维开放力、求知欲、认知成熟度和自信息等批判性思维项目评分均高于对照组,差异有统计学意义(P <0.001)。观察组学员教学后学习积极性高于对照组,差异有统计学意义(P <0.05)。观察组学员教学后对教学方法、知识掌握、技能掌握和自主学习兴趣等满意度评分均高于对照组,差异有统计学意义(P<0.001)。结论 在产科住院医师规范化培训中应用TPS模式能够提高住培医师理论和技能,增强批判性思维能力且对教学能力接受度更高。
