汉译本《译者的隐形:翻译史论》(The translator's invisibility:A history of translation)对韦努蒂翻译思想和理念的引进和推广起到了很大的作用。然而,其中部分译文存在着对原文词义、搭配、句法结构、跨文化知识背景的理解错误以及遣词造句等方面的问题,与原文的本义有较大出入,容易引起读者误解,值得商榷。本文列出其中几例存疑译文,条分缕析,指出其失误所在,并提出参考译文,以供对比。

Rethinking on Translator's Invisibility and Visibility

Translator’s Invisibility is Lawrence Venuti’s most famous book.In this book we can conclude his translation theory:translators should be invisible(transparent)or visible in his translation.We will analyze in his opinion which kind of translation is perfect to readers,and how should the translator be visible in his translation by comparing the theories of Friedrich Schleiermacher and Norman Shapiro.Finally we can get a good translator should use foreignizing translation in order to be visible in his translation.

Improving the performance of acoustic invisibility with multilayer structure based on scattering analysis

In this paper, acoustic scattering from the system comprised of a cloaked object and the multilayer cloak with only one single pair of isotropic media is analyzed with a recursive numerical method. The designed acoustic parameters of the isotropic cloak media are assumed to be single-negative, and the resulting cloak can reduce acoustic scattering from an acoustic sensor while allowing it to receive external information. Several factors that may influence the performance of the cloak, including the number of layers and the acoustic dissipation of the medium are fully analyzed. Furthermore, the possibility of achieving acoustic invisibility with positive acoustic parameters is proposed by searching the optimum value in the parameter space and minimizing the scattering cross-section.

Literature Review on the Translator's Subjectivity

Translator’s subjectivity plays an important role in the whole translation process.With"the cultural turn"in translation studies in 1970s,scholars became concerned about the study of the translator’s subjectivity.Especially,in recent years,the research of the translator’s subjectivity has been one of hot areas in the circle of the domestic translation theories.This study is about to make an overview of the translator’s subjectivity,aiming at offering some guidance for further study of the translator’s subjectivity.

Rethinking the Translator's Voice

This paper presents an effort to clarify the conceptual confusion of the translator's voice.Drawing on the the theoretical integration of narrative theories and translation studies.It begins with a sketch of the conceptual development of the translator's voice. The major finding of the paper is that the significance of the translator's voice has long been interpreted in a one-sided way,tracing the translator's voice is not only a way of perceiving the translator's subjectivity,but also a perspective from which the implication of the interrelations between the translator's use of language and the translator's subject positions for the target- reader may be better observed and understood.

Experimental investigation of omnidirectional multiphysics bilayer invisibility cloak with anisotropic geometry

Thermal-electric bilayer invisibility cloak can prevent the heat flux and electric current from touching the object without distorting the external temperature and electric potential fields simultaneously.In this paper,we design an omnidirectional thermal-electric invisibility cloak with anisotropic geometry.Based on the theory of neutral inclusion,the anisotropic effective thermal and electric conductivities of confocal elliptical bilayer core-shell structure are derived,thus obtaining the anisotropic matrix material to eliminate the external disturbances omnidirectionally.The inner shell of the cloak is selected as an insulating material to shield the heat flux and electric current.Then,the omnidirectional thermal-electric cloaking effect is verified numerically and experimentally based on the theoretical anisotropic matrix and manufactured composite structure,respectively.Furthermore,we achieve the thermal-electric cloaking effect under a specific direction of heat flux and electric current using the isotropic natural materials to broaden the selection range of materials.The method proposed to eliminate anisotropy and achieve the omnidirectional effect could also be expanded to other different physical fields for the metadevices with different functions.

On C-E Translation of Network Hot Words from the Perspective of Translator's Subjectivity

As a special kind of vocabularies originated from the network language,the network hot words are the manifcstation of the diversification of thec nctwork cra as well as of people's social consciousncss,To improve the translation quality of Chinese network hot words is not only conducive to promoting the Chinese network culure,but also an important way for foreigner to better understand China.This paper starts from the cases of network hot words translation,making the specific analysis of those words and the relationship among the translator,original writer and target readers.It also analyzes the factors that limit the translator's subjectivity and the translation skills of the network hot words,aiming at further clarifying the translator's subjectivity in the translation of network hot words.Through this research,this paper expectes to have a positive impact on the translation of Chinese network hot words and the promotion of Chinese culture.

Reframing narratives and translators＇ invisibility： On translators＇ position

This paper takes refraining narratives and translators＇ invisibility as the theoretical base for discussing the translators＇ position. Translating is to reconstruct the original text, which leads to information changes. This change is attributed to translator＇s idiolect and thinking pattern as well as different languages. The translator＇s role is obvious in the text translation. How to be invisible？ Even if invisibility is possible, the invisibility is like a moon in water, flower in fog. That is vague but invisible.

On the Limitary Subjectivity of the Translator——from the perspective of an inter-subjective system

Throughout the past years, the important role of translators has always been overlooked. The invisibility was even taken as one of the standards of a good translator. However, great change happens, especially after the"culture turn"in translation study and the role of the translators has been laid emphasis on. This kind of sharp change has led to two extreme thoughts on this issue: scholars choose either total invisibility or complete subjectivity. This paper puts forward an inter-subjective system, in which the subjectivity should be emphasized only with constraints. The other subjects in the inter-subjective system contribute to the restriction of the subjectivity of the translator during the translation process.By writing this paper, the author wishes to present a comprehensive and balanced way of understanding translators' subjectivity. Therefore, no matter analyzing the translation process or evaluating translation products, people will be more objective towards the role of translators.

New insights into the extraction of invisible gold in a low-grade high-sulfur Carlin-type gold concentrate by bio-pretreatment

To extract gold from a low-grade(13.43 g/t) and high-sulfur(39.94wt% sulfide sulfur) Carlin-type gold concentrate from the Nibao deposit, Guizhou, a bio-pretreatment followed by carbon-in-pulp(CIP) cyanide leaching process was used. Various methods were used to detect the low-grade gold in the concentrate; however, only time-of-flight secondary-ion mass spectrometry(TOF-SIMS) was successful. With bio-pretreatment, the gold recovery rate increased by approximately 70.16% compared with that obtained by direct cyanide leaching of the concentrate. Various attempts were made to increase the final gold recovery rate. However, approximately 20wt% of the gold was non-extractable. To determine the nature of this non-extractable gold, mineralogy liberation analysis(MLA), formation of secondary product during the bio-pretreatment, and the preg-robbing capacity of the carbonaceous matter in the ore were investigated. The results indicated that at least four factors affected the gold recovery rate: gold occurrence, tight junctions of gold-bearing pyrite with gangue minerals, jarosite coating of the ore, and the carbonaceous matter content.

Late Cenozoic seismic stratigraphy of the Andaman Forearc Basin,Indian Ocean

Interpretation of new multichannel seismic reflection data from the Andaman Forearc Basin(AFB) in the northern Indian Ocean is presented here. The highquality multichannel seismic data from the Andaman Forearc region enable us to examine the seismic characters and to demarcate seismic sequences bounded by distinct unconformities. Ages of marked seismic horizons have been calibrated with available litholog data from nearby industry boreholes. Seismic interpretation of new data shows that the AFB is filled with * 4.5-s-two way travel time(TWT) thick Neogene to Recent sediments. The entire basin assemblage exhibits two distinct major sequences pertaining to the Neogene and Quaternary times. A large part of the basin is filled with intermittent mass transport deposits(MTD). We infer that the episodic uplift of the Invisible Bank, protuberance of the outerarc and regular deformation through reactivation of preexisting normal faults since the Pleistocene could be attributed as causal mechanisms for the MTDs. Strong bottom simulating reflectors are identified in the Late Miocene and younger sediments of the outerarc and AFB at a depth of * 0.6 s TWT and correspond to the presence of gas hydrates in this region. Our interpretations have significant implications for geodynamic as well as resource exploration in the AFB.

The simplified material parameter equation for elliptical cylinder cloaks

We simplify the material parameter equation for elliptical cylinder cloaks under transverse-electric and transverse- magnetic models, respectively, and confirm these simplified equations by numerical simulations. As a result, the number of the component parameters is reduced from three to two, which simplifies the design of meta-materials and thus opens up the possibility of achieving elliptical cylinder cloaks in an easy way.

The design of metamaterial cloaks embedded in anisotropic medium

By using coordinate transformation method, this paper obtains an useful equation of designing meta-material cloaks embedded in anisotropic medium. This equation is the generalization of what was introduced early by Pendry et al （2006 Science 312 1780） and can be more widely used. As an example of its applications, this paper deduces the material parameter equation for cylinder cloaks embedded in anisotropic medium, and then offers the numerical simulation. The results show that such a cylinder cloak has perfect cloaking performance and therefore verifies the method proposed in this paper.

LA-ICP-MS in situ analyses of the pyrites in Dongyang gold deposit,Southeast China:Implications to the gold mineralization

The Dongyang gold deposit is a newly discovered epithermal deposit in Fujian Province,Southeast China,along the Circum-Pacific metallogenic belt.Herewith,the authors present mineralogical,scanning electron microscope,and laser ablation inductively coupled clasma mass spectrometry analysis to reveal the relations between Au and Te,As,S,Fe,etc.,and discuss the gold precipitation process.The pyrites in this deposit are Fe-deficient,and are enriched in Te and As.The authors infer that As was mainly in form of As-complexes,and Te-Au-Ag inclusions/solid solution also exsits in the Py I.Along with the depletion of Te and As,they were less active chemically in the Py II,and Au may be incorporated into As-rich and Fe-deficient surface sites by chemisorption onto As-rich growth surfaces.Because of the incorporation of new fluid,Te and As became the most active chemically in the Py III,which was the main elements precipitation stage,and As dominantly substituted for S in the lattice of pyrite,due to the more reducing condition.The authors propose Au was in form of invisible gold,and the incorporation of gold can be considered as post-pyrite event,while the Au-bearing minerals were result of post incorporation of gold in arsenian pyrite.

The Divine and the Political Economy

The Invisible Hand Of Divine Providence in Christian Theology leads mankind continuously with teleological aim.Adam Smith’s“Invisible Hand of Political Economy”leads society to the highest level of prosperity,where the benefits of households,businesses and the state are optimized.Adam Smith,influenced by the Theology of Augustine and Thomas Aquinas,transfers the Hand of Divine Providence to economic life and lets individuals function on the basis of their own interest and the“sympathy”governing their economic relations.Two patterns run at the same time.The economic circuit is driven by the good choice of the invisible hand,and mankind is driven by the good providence of God.The purpose of our work is to present this coincidence of the two“long hands”of God and the Economy and the influences that the Philosophy of Ethical Emotions of Political Economy has received from Theology.

The African-American novel Invisible Man written by Ralph Ellison is about the miserable suffering of black people in the white society.The black people were invisible in the white world.This thesis analyzes this novel from post-colonialism perspective to discuss the process of looking for the racial identity of the protagonist.

The occurrence of gold in pyrite from the Liulincha gold ore belt,western Hunan Province,China

In this study,an electron microprobe analyzer(EMPA) was used to map the spatial distribution and the occurrence of invisible gold in pyrite from the Liulincha gold ore belt.EPMA data show that gold mainly occurs as submicroscopic-microscopic inclusions.From the contrast of the major guide elements of pyrite from the Liulincha gold ore belt and those from four hydrothermal-type gold deposits in the Jiaodong region,we can see the pyrites were formed in two stages:the pyrite from wall rock is mainly sedimentogenic,with simple structure;and the pyrite from ore body experienced early sedimentary process to late hydrothermal activity,the pyrite is regular in crystal form and exhibits fractured structure.

The Existence of the Negative Charge of Gold in Sulphide Minerals and Its Formation Mechanism

Through a study, particularly an X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS or ESCA) analysis, of gold-bearing arsenopyrite and pyrite in Carlin-type gold deposits of Guangxi, China, and hydrothermally synthesized gold-bearing pyrite and marcasite, the authors have found that these minerals contain 'invisible gold' whose binding energy is lower than that of native gold (Au°). Therefore they suggest that gold occurs in a negative charge state in these sulphide minerals as it replaces some sulphur and is combined with sulphur with the covalent bond. This paper also preliminarily discusses the possibility of its formation from the chemistry and geochemistry of gold, crystal chemistry of arsenopyrite, pyrite and marcasite and geochemical environment.
