The TGO growth during thermal exposure in air plays an important role in the spallation of the ceramic layer from the bond coat. High temperature oxidation resistance of four types of atmospheric plasma sprayed TBCs was investigated. These coatings were oxidized at 1000 °C for 24, 48 and 120 h in a normal electric furnace under air atmosphere. Microstructural characterization showed that the growth of the TGO layer in nano NiCrAlY/YSZ/nano Al2O3 coating is much lower than in other coatings. Moreover, EDS and XRD analyses revealed the formation of Ni(Cr,Al)2O4 mixed oxides (as spinel) and NiO onto the Al2O3 (TGO) layer. The formation of detrimental mixed oxides (spinels) on the Al2O3 (TGO) layer of nano NiCrAlY/YSZ/nano Al2O3 coating is much lower compared to that of other coatings after 120 h of high temperature oxidation at 1000 °C.展开更多

TGO oxidation kinetics, the relationship between TGO thickness and thermal cycles number, and typical morphology including sinusoid , cone and groove were considered in the calculation process. 13 FEM (finite element method) models with different TGO thickness based on uniform interface morphology were established for analysis. The calculation results show that TCC ( top ceramic coating ) /TGO and TGO/BC (bond coating) interface residual stresses are affected significantly by inter)hce morphology and TGO thickness, both of which increase significantly with TGO growth ; the stress level in TCC/TGO interface is greater than that of TGO/BC interface ; each morphology peak exhibits tensile stress while each valley exhibits compressive stress in TCC/TGO interface; stress concentrates in such locations as each morphology center with sharp angle and the stress reaches the maximal value at the tip of each angle.展开更多

The low thermal expansion characteristics of the most widely used class of materials are derived from the ferromagnetic characteristics of Ni, Fe, and Co-based austenitic matrices containing little or no Cr.Alloy developments have been aimed at improving the oxidation resistance and stress accelerated grain boundary oxygen (SAGBO) attack.INCONEL alloy 783 is an oxidation resistant, low coefficient of thermal expansion superalloy developed for gas turbine applications. Alloy 783 represents a culmination in the development, of an alloy system with very high alumtnum content that, in addition to forming γ′,causes βaluminide phase precipitation in the austenitic matrix. This type of structure can be processed to resist both SAGBO and general oxidation, while providing low thermal expansion and useful mechanical properties up to 700℃.Key aspects of the alloy's development are presented.展开更多

Therefore, the quality markers that predict growth performance could be useful when feeding oxidized oils to non-ruminants. However, the correlations between growth performance and chemical profiles of oxidized oils have not been well examined. In this study, six thermally oxidized soybean oils(OSOs) with a wide range of quality measures were prepared under different processing temperatures and processing durations, including 45 °C-336 h;67.5 °C-168 h;90 °C-84 h;135 °C-42 h;180 °C-21 h;and225 °C-10.5 h. Broilers and nursery pigs were randomly assigned to diets containing either unheated control soybean oil or one of six OSOs. Animal performance was determined by measuring body weight gain, feed intake, and gain to feed ratio. The chemical profiles of OSOs were first evaluated by common indicative tests, including peroxide value, thiobarbituric acid reactive substances, p-anisidine value, free fatty acids, oxidized fatty acids, unsaponifiable matter, insoluble impurities, and moisture, and then analyzed by the liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry-based chemometric analysis. Results: Among common quality indicators, p-anisidine value(An V), which reflects the level of carbonyl compounds, had the greatest inverse correlation with the growth performance of both broilers and pigs, followed by free fatty acids and oxidized fatty acids. Among the 17 aldehydes identified in OSOs, C9-C11 alkenals, especially 2-decenal and 2-undecenal, had stronger inverse correlations(r <-0.8) with animal performance compared to C5-C8 saturated alkanals, suggesting that chain length and unsaturation level affect the toxicity of aldehydes. Conclusions: As the major lipid oxidation products contributing to the An V, individual C9-C11 unsaturated aldehydes in heavily-oxidized oils could function as effective prediction markers of growth and feed intake in feeding non-ruminants.展开更多

Copper foils with thickness of 0.5 mm were thermally oxidized in air at 500℃ for 0.5-10 h. It is found that all the samples have wrinkles and the size of the wrinkles increases with the oxidation time increasing. CuO NWs can grow on both the sidehill and hilltop of wrinkle. The CuO NWs on sidehill are longer and denser than those on hilltop. The growth direction of the CuO NWs on sidehill is not vertical to the substrate but vertical to their growth surfaces. The process of wrinkling and CuO NWs growth can be divided into three stages: undulating, voiding, and cracking. The CuO NWs on both sidehill and hilltop grow at the undulating stage. However, only the CuO NWs on sidehill grow and those on hilltop stop growing at the voiding and cracking stages because of the void in hilltop. The local electric field in a wrinkle at undulating stage was calculated, and it is found that the difference of local electric field strengths between hilltop and sidehill is small, which indicates that the predominant driving force for the diffusion of Cu ion during CuO NWs growth is internal stress.展开更多
