A Quality Evaluation System for Dissertation Based on Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process

A dissertation is a research report or scientific paper written by an author to obtain a certain degree. It reflects postgraduates’ research achievements and the educational quality of an institute, even a country. To construct an optimized quality evaluation system for postgraduate dissertation (QESPD), we summarized the influencing factors and invited 10 experienced specialists to rate and prioritize them based on fuzzy analytic hierarchy process. Four primary indicators (innovation, integrity, scientificity and normativity) and 16 sub-indicators were selected to form the evaluation system. The order of primary indicators by weight, was innovation (0.4269), scientificity (0.2807), integrity (0.1728) and normativity (0.1196). The top five sub-dimensions were theoretical originality, scientific value, data reliability, design rationality and evidence credibility. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed system, a case study was performed. In the case study, it was demonstrated that the established two-index-hierarchy QESPD in this study was a more scientific and reasonable evaluation system worthy of promotion and application.

Multidimensional Quality Evaluation of Graduate Thesis:Based on the Probabilistic Linguistic MABAC Method

Graduate education is the main way to train high-level innovative talents,the basic layout to cope with the global talent competition,and the important cornerstone for implementing the innovation-driven development strategy and building an innovation-driven country.Therefore,graduate education is of great remarkably to the development of national education.As an important manifestation of graduate education,the quality of a graduate thesis should receive more attention.It is conducive to promoting the quality of graduates by supervising and examining the quality of the graduate thesis.For this purpose,this work is based on textmining,expert interviews,and questionnaire surveys to obtain the factors influencing the quality of a graduate thesis first.Then,through three rounds of expert consultation,a multidimensional evaluation indicator system for the graduate thesis quality is built.Furthermore,probabilistic linguistic termsets(PLTSs)are utilized to obtain the initial evaluation information and apply the stepwise weight assessment ratio analysis method to determine the weights of attributes.In the ensuing step,the novel multi-attribute border approximation area comparison based on the PLTS method is established.Finally,the proposed method is employed in a case study concerning the quality evaluation of a graduate thesis and the effectiveness of this approach is further illustrated.

Cultivation of Innovation Consciousness in English Graduation Thesis

However,due to its complexity and preciseness,there are many problems of application of statistics. The present paper tries to discuss the application of statistics in a M.A. dissertation and aims to explain how to apply statistics to linguistics research normatively,scientifically,and precisely.

Where Does AlphaGo Go: From Church-Turing Thesis to AlphaGo Thesis and Beyond

An investigation on the impact and significance of the Alpha Go vs. Lee Sedol Go match is conducted, and concludes with a conjecture of the Alpha Go Thesis and its extension in accordance with the Church-Turing Thesis in the history of computing. It is postulated that the architecture and method utilized by the Alpha Go program provide an engineering solution for tackling issues in complexity and intelligence. Specifically,the Alpha Go Thesis implies that any effective procedure for hard decision problems such as NP-hard can be implemented with Alpha Go-like approach. Deep rule-based networks are proposed in attempt to establish an understandable structure for deep neural networks in deep learning. The success of Alpha Go and corresponding thesis ensure the technical soundness of the parallel intelligence approach for intelligent control and management of complex systems and knowledge automation.

Reviewing the trends of nursing doctoral thesis research in Hong Kong

This review aimed to analyze the trends and contributions of nursing doctoral theses produced in Hong Kong. A total of 56 nursing doctoral theses were included in this review. The most often studied topic was cardiovascular rehabilitation care (n = 9, 16%). More recently, the most often studied topics has been health technology advancements in nursing care (n = 6, 10.7%). The common trend of study methods was to be quantitative in nature. Of the total, 35 out of 56 were quantitative studies. Half were experimental/ quasi-experimental research studies (n = 28, 50%). For theoretical foundations or applications, the majority (n = 21, 36%) of doctoral theses had no specific theoretical/conceptual models as study frameworks. This trend indicates that there is space for improving the theoretical and philosophical foundation of nursing research in Hong Kong. For the contributions of doctoral thesis research, Hong Kong nursing scholars place more emphasis on direct enhancement of clinical practice or the improvement of patient outcomes. This review provides concrete evidence of the status of nursing research and knowledge development in Hong Kong nursing.

Genre Analysis on Introduction of English Major Masters' Graduation Thesis

The introduction of the academic paper, as a type of discourse, are not only an indispensable part of the thesis, but also a kind of social behavior with communicative purpose. The introductions are the essence of academic papers, so it is particularly important for postgraduates to write English introduction. Therefore, the introduction of academic writing, as a genre, has been widely studied for many years. This study analyzes a 50-research-article corpus of English introductions chosen at random with theories relating to genre and genre analysis. These research articles from masters' graduation thesis in the field of applied linguistics(Research Article, i.e. for RA) are analyzed from macro-level and micro-level. And this study is to explore English postgraduates how to choose genre structure, language forms and the communicative purpose that the introductions should achieve. The result shows that some English introductions of the masters' graduation thesis differ from the international general pattern in frequency and quantity of moves, due to the influence of the context. To some extent, this study is significant in teaching academic paper writing.

Genre Analysis of Research Dissertation Abstracts

Genre analysis has become one of the most important approaches to text analysis, especially in the field of English for Specific Purposes. Abstract is the essential part of the paper, which helps the readers get initial impressions. Because of its particular the usage of communication, it has its special rules and mode. The purpose of this paper was to present the 5-move model characteristic of research dissertation Abstracts, and explore the linguistic characteristics of each move. The analysis started from the macrostructure, i.e from the text as a whole, towards the microstructure which included linguistic description (syntactic and lexical). The results showed that most abstracts followed 5-move model and the linguistic features of this genre.

Challenges and Coping Strategies Adopted by Postgraduate Students of Agricultural Education in Thesis Writing in Nigerian Universities

The study investigated challenges encountered and coping strategies adopted by postgraduate students of agricultural education in writing thesis in Nigerian universities. Two research questions and two hypotheses guided the study. The study was conducted in Nigerian universities offering post-graduate programme in agricultural education. The population for the study was 118 made up of 14 postgraduate diploma, 66 masters and 38 doctoral students writing thesis in agricultural education. The entire population was involved in the study. An instrument tilted: Challenges and Coping Strategies Questionnaire (CCSQ) was used for data collection. Three experts validated the questionnaire. Cronbach alpha reliability method was used to determine the internal consistency of the questionnaire. A reliability coefficient of 0.85 was obtained. A total of 97 copies of the questionnaire were returned representing 93 percent return rate. Data collected for the study were analyzed using mean and standard deviation to answer the research questions while Analysis of Variance was used to test hypothesis of no significant difference at P ≤ 0.05 level of significance. The statistical package for social sciences (SPSS) was the tool employed to analyze the data collected. It was found out that 28 challenges were encountered by postgraduate students of agricultural education in thesis writing while 15 coping strategies were adopted by postgraduate students of agricultural education in thesis writing. The recommendations were that postgraduate students of agricultural education who have abandoned their thesis writing should adopt the identified coping strategies to complete their programme among others.

Research Report on MTCSOL Dissertation Topics in the Last Decade

Dissertation is one of the most important indicators to evaluate the training quality of postgraduate students.As the first step of writing dissertations,topic selection directly influences the dissertation quality.By utilizing the intelligent retrieval system of the National Science and Technology Library(NSTL),we have selected MTCSOL(Master of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages)dissertation topics during the last 10 years,divided them into four stages and statistically analyzed the general tendency and crucial problems in these dissertations.MTCSOL dissertations have increased greatly in quantity and become more diversified and multidisciplinary.However,they are still too concentrated on similar topics with narrow scopes;and researches lack of creativity,pioneering spirits and practicality.It concludes that MTCSOL students should expand their research scopes and improve the quality of their dissertations with the historic mission of international Chinese language teaching to support the Belt and Road Initiative and build a harmonious community with shared future for humanity in the new era always in their minds.

An Evaluation Model of Graduation Thesis Results Based on Triangular Fuzzy Number

The evaluation of thesis by undergraduate has the characteristics of multi-factor, multi-layer and easy to be affected by subjective factors. To reduce the subjectivity, triangular fuzzy number is used as index set to give weight, and on this basis, fuzzy comprehensive evaluation is used to evaluate the quality of graduation thesis. The empirical analysis shows that the combination of triangular fuzzy number and fuzzy comprehensive evaluation has certain practical value in the quality evaluation of graduation thesis.

Research on the Construction of Doctoral Dissertation System

This paper initially forms its own doctoral dissertation system by summarizing and sorting out the Research and Practice classroom system and the Writing Skills of Doctoral Dissertation teaching material system, which are studied in the doctoral course. Through criticism and innovation, a set of doctoral dissertation system consisting of six major systems: preparation system, content system, organization system, supervision system, supports system and verification system is finally formed. This dissertation writing system will provide reference and help for doctoral students and researchers.

The Use of First Person Pronouns in Master dissertation

This writing is quantitative and qualitative empirical study of how first person pronouns are employed in master dissertations by advanced learners.The results reveal that the variations in the use of the first person pronouns do exist.It will help the advanced learners get a better understanding of the first person pronouns and write a perfect introduction,usually written both in English and in Chinese,in order to be accepted by the international publications and gain a better academic exchange.
