The China Fusion Engineering Test Reactor plans to build a 200 k V/25 A acceleration grid power supply(AGPS)for the negative-ion-based neutral beam injector prototype system.The AGPS uses a rectifier-inverter-isolated step-up structure.There is a DC bus between the rectifier and the inverter.In order to limit DC bus voltage ripple and transient fluctuations,a large number of capacitors are used,which degrades the reliability of the power supply and occupies a large amount of space.This work finds that due to the difference in the turn-off time of the rectifier and the inverter,the capacitance mainly depends on the rectifier current when the inverter is turned off.On this basis,an active power filter(APF)scheme is proposed to absorb the current.To enhance the dynamic response ability of the APF,model predictive control is adopted.In this paper,the circuit structure of the APF is introduced,the prediction model is deduced,the corresponding control strategy and signal detection method are proposed,and the simulation and experimental results show that APF can track the transient current of the DC bus and reduce the voltage fluctuation significantly. 展开更多

This paper deals with power quality improvement using a three-phase active power filter(APF) connected to a PV power system. A direct power control(DPC) approach is proposed to eliminate harmonic current caused by any nonlinear loads and at the same time guarantees the delivery of a part of the load request from the same PV source. A boost converter is used for maximum power point(MPP) tracking purposes under various climate conditions through a fuzzy logic technique. The suggested study is tested under a MATLAB/Simulink environment. The obtained results depict the efficacy of the proposed procedures to meet the IEEE 519-1992 standard recommendation on harmonic levels. 展开更多

The open-circuit fault of the power switches in shunt active power filter(SAPF) would exacerbate the harmonic pollution of power grid, and degrade the reliability of the devices and system. A fault diagnosis method is proposed based on reference model and an over-modulation strategy under hardware fault tolerance for SAPF. First, a mathematic model is established for SAPF. Second, the residuals are generated by comparing the outputs of reference model and those of actual model, and open-switch fault is detected and diagnosed by residual evaluation. After that, hardware fault tolerance is performed with the three-phase four-switch(TPFS) topology to isolate the faulty phase. Finally, the over-modulation strategy is proposed to increase the voltage transfer ratio of the TPFS topology. Simulation and experimental results verified the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method. 展开更多

The method improves the performance of the HAPF system by reducing the influence of detection accuracy, time delay of instruction current calculation and phase displacement of output filter. Fuzzy logic based set-point weighing algorithm is combined in the control scheme to enhance its robustness and anti-interference ability. The proposed algorithm is easy to implement for engineering applications and easy to compute. Experiment results have verified the validity of the proposed controller. Furthermore, the proposed recursive integral PI algorithm can also be applied in the control of periodic current as in AC drivers. 展开更多

Active power filter (APF) using novel virtual line-flux-linkage oriented control strategy can not only realizes no phase-locked-loop (PLL) control, but also achieves a good inhibitory effect to interfere. However, there are some problems in the conventional method, such as the error of amplitude, the shift of phase angle and the non-determinacy of initial oriented angle. In this paper, two one-order low-pass filters are adopted instead of the pure integrator in the virtual line-flux-linkage observer, which can steady the phase and amplitude. Furthermore, an original scheme of harmonics detection under the rotating coordinate is advanced based on the simplified space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM) strategy. Meanwhile, by using the new SVPWM algorithm, the voltage space vector diagram of the three-level inverter can be simplified and applied into that of two-level inverter, and this makes the control for Neutral Point potential easier. 展开更多

This paper deals with the adaptive control mechanism management meant for shunt active power filters (SAPF). Systems driven this way are designed to improve the quality of electric power (power quality) in industrial networks. The authors have focused on the implementation of two basic representatives of adaptive algorithms, first, the algorithm with a stochastic LMS (least mean square) gradient adaptation and then an algorithm with recursive RLS (recursive least square) optimal adaptation. The system examined by the authors can be used for non-linear loads for appliances with rapid fluctuations of the reactive and active power consumption. The proposed system adaptively reduces distortion, falls (dip) and changes in a supply voltage (flicker). Real signals for measurement were obtained at a sophisticated, three-phase experimental workplace. The results of executed experiments indicate that, with use of the certain adaptive algorithms, the examined AHC system shows very good dynamics, resulting in a much faster transition during the AHC connection-disconnection or during a change in harmonic load on the network. The actual experiments are evaluated from several points of view, mainly according to a time convergence (convergence time) and mistakes in a stable state error (steady state error) of the investigated adaptive algorithms and finally as a total harmonic distortion (THD). In order to minimize the harmonic distortion rate of the current at the common coupling point,this paper proposes a coordinated allocation strategy of harmonic compensation capacity considering the performance of active power filters(APF).On the premise of proportional distribution of harmonic compensation capacity,the harmonic compensation rate of each APF is considered,and the harmonic current value of each APF to be compensated is obtained.At the same time,the communication topology is introduced.Each APF takes into account the compensation ability of other APFs.Finally,three APFs with different capacity and performance are configured at the harmonic source to suppress the same harmonic source,and the harmonic distortion rate is reduced to 1.73%.The simulation results show that the strategy can effectively improve the compensation capability of the multiple APF cascaded system to the power grid without increasing the installed capacity. 展开更多

This paper presents a new three-phase hybrid active power filter configuration that interconnects a passive high-pass filter in parallel with an active power filter and a photovoltaic system. The proposed configuration can improves the filtering performance of the conventional active power filter, as well as simultaneously supply the power from the photovoltaic arrays to the load and utility. This paper will describe the proposed hybrid active power filter control using sliding mode with photovoltaic system. The proposed technique effectively filters harmonics under 1 kHz but also higher frequency to achieve wideband harmonics compensation. The THD of source current is reduced from 30.09% to 1.95%. The result indicates that the sliding mode controller can track the reference signals and have good dynamic characteristics. 展开更多

The APF compensates har-monic and reactive power in a three-phase four-wire system. The scheme adopted for control of the four-leg active power filter,a 3-Dimensional Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) technique,is presented. The theoretical deduction of a space vector PWM (SVPWM) algorithm is given in this paper. The paper also analyzes the distribution of the volt-age-space vector of the four-leg converter in αβγ coordinates and describes methods to determine the location of the voltage-space vector and to calculate duration time. Finally,the algorithm is implemented in simulation; the results show that the total harmonic distortion (THD) of the three phase-current waveforms is reduced. The neutral wire current,after compensation,is about 0 A showing that the topology of the four-leg shunt APF is feasible and the proposed scheme is effective. 展开更多

A novel control strategy for three-phase shunt active power filter (SAPF) was proposed to improve its performance under non-ideal mains voltages. The approach was inspired by our finding that the classic instantaneous reactive power theory based algorithm was unsatisfactory in terms of isolating positive sequence fundamental active components exactly under non-ideal mains voltages. So, a modified ip-iq reference current calculation method was presented. With usage of the new method, not only the positive sequence but also the fundamental active current components can be accurately isolated from load current. A deadbeat closed-loop control model is built in order to eliminate both delay error and tracking error between reference voltages and compensation voltages under unbalanced and distorted mains voltages. Computer simulation results show that the proposed strategy is effective with better tracking ability and lower total harmonic distortion (THD). The strategy is also applied to a 10 kV substation with a local electrolysis manganese plant injecting a large amount of harmonics into the power system, and is proved to be more practical and efficient. 展开更多

Then, the theory is introduced into shunt active power filter and its control scheme is studied. Finally, Matlab/Simulink power system toolbox is used to simulate the system. In the simulation model, as the most common harmonic source, 3-phase thyristor bridge rectifier circuit is constructed. The simulation results before and after the shunt active filter was switched to the system corresponding to different firing angles of the thyristors are presented and analyzed, which demonstrate the practicability and reliability of the proposed shunt active filter scheme. 展开更多

The growing problems of harmonic pollution on coal mine power lines caused by high-power DC drive systems has increased the use of active power filters.We analyzed compensation errors caused by the time lag in the detecting circuits of an active power filter based on DSP control.We derived a mathematical model for the compensation error starting from the error estimation when a single distortion frequency is present.This model was then extended to the case where multiple frequencies are present in the distortion.A formula for a general theory of compensation error with fixed load and fixed lag time is presented.The theoretical analysis and experimental results show that the delay time of an active power filter mainly arises from the sampling time.Lower sampling frequencies introduce larger compensation errors in the active power filter reference current. 展开更多

Modified instantaneous p-q theory is adopted for calculating the compensating current. Fuzzy-adaptive hysteresis band technique is applied for the current control to derive the switching signals for the voltage source inverter. A fuzzy logic controller is developed to control the voltage of the DC capacitor. Computer simulations are carried out on a sample power system to demonstrate the suitability of the proposed control strategy, for harmonic reduction under three different conditions namely, ideal, unbalance, unbalance and distorted source voltage conditions. The proposed control strategy is found to be effective to reduce the harmonics and compensate reactive power and neutral current and balance load currents under ideal and non-ideal source voltage conditions. 展开更多

But it needs large computation, and three-phase currents are processed as integrity, thus calculation accuracy can't be ensured. Based on adaptive interference canceling theory, this paper presents a new ad- aptive detection method for harmonic current, it is a continuously regulated closed-loop system, and its operating characteristics are almost independent of the parameter variations of the elements, thus it performs better than that based on traditional theory. With the widespread application of power electronic equipment in the power grid,the harmonic problem of the power grid becomes more pronounced,reducing the efficiency of power production,transmission,and utilization,and interfering with the normal operation of the power grid.Based on the requirements of harmonic suppression and power system protection,a shunt active power filter(SAPF)is proposed as an effective harmonic suppression method.However,there are problems with impulse current and impulse voltage in the starting process of SAPF.Impulse current and impulse voltage cause the power grid and switchgear to bear greater current stress and voltage stress,which seriously affect the security and reliability of the power grid and may damage the switchgear.To effectively solve the problem of impulse current and impulse voltage,the starting process of SAPF is divided into the uncontrolled rectification stage and the transition stage.The mathematical model of the DC side of APF is established.The causes of impulse current and impulse voltage in the uncontrolled rectifier and transition phases are analyzed.By introducing voltage square,a new starting impulse suppression strategy of active power filter based on the slow rising curve is proposed,fundamentally solving the problems of impulse current and impulse voltage.Simulation results verify the effectiveness and feasibility of this method. 展开更多

This paper presents a comparison of the results obtained from the integration of the photovoltaic system to the electrical grid through the Active Power Filter.The innovative aspect of this article consists of the elaboration of 4 models in Matlab/Simulink for 4 methods of control of the Active Power Filter introduced between the photovoltaic system and the alternating current grid and the highlighting of the performances obtained regarding the quality and quantity of electricity transferred for each control method in part.Following the analysis of the results,it was found that by using the Indirect Control(CI)method of the Active Power Filter,the best results are obtained THDu=3.24%,THDi=2.46%if the photovoltaic system produces a larger amount of energy than the nonlinear load,and by using the methods of control of the Active Power Filter Synchronous Reference Frame(DQ)and Instantaneous Power(PQ)the best results are obtained:THDu=3.22%,THDi=5.26%for the method(DQ)and THDu=3.41%,THDi=5.17%for the method(PQ)if the photovoltaic system produces a smaller amount of energy than the nonlinear load. 展开更多
