Ensuring the dependability of these assets is critical. Non-intrusive inspection, maintenance and repair (IMR) services are therefore needed to reduce risks. These services are planned and executed using a mono-hull offshore vessel complete with remotely operated vehicles (ROVs), a module handling system and an active heave compensated crane. Vessel time is shared between competing jobs, using a prioritized forward-looking schedule. Extension in planned job duration may have an impact on O&G production, service costs and health, safety, and environmental (HSE) risks. This paper maps factors influencing the job schedule efficiency. The influence factors are identified through reviews of literature as well as interviews with experts in one of the large IMR subsea service providers active on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. The findings show that the most obvious factors are weather disruption and water depth. Other factors include job complexity, job uncertainty, IMR equipment availability, as well as the mix of job complexity.展开更多

Three key issues for providing knowledge services are how to improve the access of unstructured and scattered information for the non-specialist users, how to provide adequate information to knowledge workers and how to provide the information requiring highly focused and related information. Cyber-Brain has been designed as a platform that combines approaches based on knowledge engineering and language engineering to gather knowledge from various sources and to provide the effective knowledge service. Based on specially designed ontology for practical service scenarios, it can aggregate knowledge from Internet, digital archives, expert, and other resources for providing one-stop-shop knowledge services. The domain specific and task oriented ontology also enables advanced search and allows the system ensures that knowledge service could improve the user benefit. Users are presented with the necessary information closely related to their information need and thus of potential high interest. This paper presents several service scenarios for different end-users and reviews ontology engineering and its life cycle for supporting AOS (Agricultural Ontology Services) Vocbench which is the heart of knowledge services in agriculture domain.展开更多

In this paper, a network-based collaborative maintenance service model was proposed for after-sales equipment to solve the problem of maintenance resources integration. Concretely, equipment designers, maintainers, spare parts suppliers and maintenance experts were grouped together to establish dynamic alliance. The leader of the alliance is the manufacturer under guaranty period or equipment user exceeding the guaranty period. The process of maintenance service was divided into three stages which are fault diagnosis, maintenance decision and maintenance implementation. The sub-alliances were established to carry out maintenance work at each stage. In addition, the business process of network-based collaborative maintenance was analyzed and collaborative business system for equipment's after-sales collaborative maintenance service was designed. In the end, an informational economics model of network-based collaborative maintenance was established to demonstrate the effectiveness of this maintenance model.展开更多

SOA offers new languages and a variety of software development tools that enable software engineers to configure software as services and to interconnect services with other services independent of differences in operating platform and programming and communicating languages. However, SOA composite applications introduce additional complexity into the construction, deployment and maintenance of software, for the purpose of aggravating the issue of program comprehension, which is at the heart of software maintenance. This article describes the challenges in SOA program comprehension and reports on the results of a two-part case study aimed at identifying information that would help a SOA software maintainer. Analysis of the results indicates a need for higher-level abstractions and visualizations that can enhance conventional text-based search to support SOA program understanding. This paper then reports on several specific abstractions, visualization methods, and the development of an intelligent search tool to enhance comprehension of the relationships and data within a SOA composite application.展开更多

Monitoring and maintenance of production lines from the remote monitor center is an important application of such techniques. This paper presents a typical model of tele service systems and discusses the underlying challenges. RMMST (remote monitoring and maintenance system testbed), based on PC PLC and their networks which are used widely in production lines, is presented in detail as a concrete example. With the support of digital technique, RMMST can be used in the monitoring and maintenance of remote production lines conveniently.展开更多
