The paper addresses the problem of missing data in power generation systems and proposes an approach based on the efficiency formula widely documented in the literature. In the absence of input data, this method makes it possible to estimate the plant’s input power using data extracted from the site, in particular that provided by the Ministry of the Environment. An Algorithm for Short-Circuit Current Interval in Distribution Networks with Inverter Type Distributed Generation Based on Affine Arithmetic

During faults in a distribution network,the output power of a distributed generation(DG)may be uncertain.Moreover,the output currents of distributed power sources are also affected by the output power,resulting in uncertainties in the calculation of the short-circuit current at the time of a fault.Additionally,the impacts of such uncertainties around short-circuit currents will increase with the increase of distributed power sources.Thus,it is very important to develop a method for calculating the short-circuit current while considering the uncertainties in a distribution network.In this study,an affine arithmetic algorithm for calculating short-circuit current intervals in distribution networks with distributed power sources while considering power fluctuations is presented.The proposed algorithm includes two stages.In the first stage,normal operations are considered to establish a conservative interval affine optimization model of injection currents in distributed power sources.Constrained by the fluctuation range of distributed generation power at the moment of fault occurrence,the model can then be used to solve for the fluctuation range of injected current amplitudes in distributed power sources.The second stage is implemented after a malfunction occurs.In this stage,an affine optimization model is first established.This model is developed to characterizes the short-circuit current interval of a transmission line,and is constrained by the fluctuation range of the injected current amplitude of DG during normal operations.Finally,the range of the short-circuit current amplitudes of distribution network lines after a short-circuit fault occurs is predicted.The algorithm proposed in this article obtains an interval range containing accurate results through interval operation.Compared with traditional point value calculation methods,interval calculation methods can provide more reliable analysis and calculation results.The range of short-circuit current amplitude obtained by this algorithm is slightly larger than those obtained using the Monte Carlo algorithm and the Latin hypercube sampling algorithm.Therefore,the proposed algorithm has good suitability and does not require iterative calculations,resulting in a significant improvement in computational speed compared to the Monte Carlo algorithm and the Latin hypercube sampling algorithm.Furthermore,the proposed algorithm can provide more reliable analysis and calculation results,improving the safety and stability of power systems. 展开更多

A novel three-phase traction power supply system is proposed to eliminate the adverse effects caused by electric phase separation in catenary and accomplish a unifying manner of traction power supply for rail transit.With the application of two-stage three-phase continuous power supply structure,the electrical characteristics exhibit new features differing from the existing traction system.In this work,the principle for voltage levels determining two-stage network is dissected in accordance with the requirements of traction network and electric locomotive.The equivalent model of three-phase traction system is built for deducing the formula of current distribution and voltage losses.Based on the chain network model of the traction network,a simulation model is established to analyze the electrical characteristics such as traction current distribution,voltage losses,system equivalent impedance,voltage distribution,voltage unbalance and regenerative energy utilization.In a few words,quite a lot traction current of about 99%is undertaken by long-section cable network.The proportion of system voltage losses is small attributed to the two-stage three-phase power supply structure,and the voltage unbal-ance caused by impedance asymmetry of traction network is less than 1‰.In addition,the utilization rate of regenerative energy for locomotive achieves a significant promotion of over 97%. 展开更多

The basic configuration of the new topology and their fundamental principle are firstly introduced, the method of design double-loop controller and sliding mode controller are clarified, analyzed and compared in the following. Finally the validity and feasibility of the new topology are tested by simulation. The results indicate that regulation of the voltage transfer ratio and output frequency can be realized optionally by the new converter, furthermore the harmonic distortion of waveform is low. So the inherent drawback of low voltage transfer ratio of traditional converter is effectively settled. This study may provide inspiration for further engineering application. 展开更多

This paper presents a Z-source three-phase four-leg inverter which combines a Z-source network with three-phase four-leg inverter. The circuit uses simple SPWM modulation technique and the fourth bridge arm uses fully compensated control method. In order to overcome many limitations of the conventional power supplies, such as ponderosity, big wastage, and simplex output characteristic, a dual-inverter power supply is designed to meet the different requirements of micro-arc oxidation. The main circuit structure and principle of the dual-inverter power supply for micro-arc oxidation is described, the control system and the control adjustment method are also introduced. The dual-inverter technology is adopted in micro-arc oxidation power supply. The limited bipolar control mode is applied in the power inverter circuit for adjusting the voltage, and various voltage waveform can be obtained by controlling the chopper circuit. Meanwhile, the control accuracy and response speed are improved greatly because of the higher inverter frequency. The power supply can output direct current(DC) waveform, DC pulse waveform, symmetry alternating current(AC) waveform, asymmetry AC waveform, and so on. Besides, the parameters such as pulse width, range, frequency, duty cycle can be adjusted. The experimental result shows that the power supply has many advantages, such as stable output, wonderful waveform consistency and obvious advantage in technique, and it can meet the requirements of micro-arc oxidation process fully. 展开更多

Through the inspiration of the reliability mechanism of human body, it is obvious that the bionic methods can be used as a reference for the optimized design of high power plasma inverter. On this basis, the high power plasma inverter can be composed of several high power density intelligent power electric building blocks ( IPEBB ) , which are controlled by intelligent controller with the capability of self-management and can be regarded as the cell of the inverter. All of these IPEBB can be controllable and cooperative through distributed communication structure with digital control. This structure can be regarded as the nerve of the inverter. In each IPEBB, the advance mechanical feedback mechanism is adopted to suppress the magnetic bins, over-current protection and gate driving for the high power switches. A 75 kW Prototype constructed by IPEBBs was built to test the performance. Experimental results verify the feasibility of the proposed approach, and the bionic design methods can benefit the optimized design of high power plasma inverter. 展开更多

Among all the renewable energy sources,the installed capacity of solar power generation is the fastest growing in recent years,so photovoltaic(PV)power generation still has great market potential.Compared with low-power systems,large-scale PV systems are more commercially attractive,because they can reduce the cost of the system per watt.The PV inverters with centralized and string structure have been applied in large-scale PV plant,but it is difficult to further increase the voltage and power levels for a single converter.In addition,the line-frequency isolation transformer requires a large amount of materials and has a large volume and weight.Therefore,it is a current trend for large-scale PV system to increase the voltage and power levels to directly connect to the medium-voltage power grid.Based on this,this paper investigates and compares several topologies of PV inverters without line-frequency transformer,including the MMC structure and the three-phase cascaded H-bridge(CHB)structure,which are able to directly connect to the 35kV medium-voltage power grid,and can not only make the voltage and power levels higher,but also further reduce the cost and volume of the whole system. 展开更多

The fore-stage adopts double closed loop proportion and integration (PI) rectifier technique and the back- stage adopts digital pulse width modulation ( PWM) technique. Simulated waves can be obtained in Matlab/Simulink and validated by experiments. Experiments of the prototype showed that the total harmonic distortion (THD) can be controlled within 10% and the power factor is approximate to 1. 展开更多

The use of an electrical network as close as possible to its limits can lead to its instability in the event of a high amplitude disturbance. The damping of system oscillations can be achieved by conventional means of voltage and speed regulation but also by FACTS (Flexible AC Transmission Systems) devices, which are increasingly used in power networks. In this work, optimal control coordination between a hybrid power flow controller and a three-level inverter was used to improve the transient stability of a transmission line. The UPFC is a combination of a serial compensator (SSSC) and a parallel compensator (STATCOM) both connected to a DC-LINK DC bus. The SSSC acts as a voltage source for the network and injects a voltage that can be adjusted in phase and amplitude in addition to the network voltage;the STATCOM acts as a current source. The approach used is tested in the Matlab Simulink environment on a single machine network. Optimal controller tuning gives a better transient stability improvement by reducing the transport angle oscillations from 248.17% to 9.85%. 展开更多

Nonlinear loads in the power distribution system cause non-sinusoidal currents and voltages with harmonic components.Shunt active filters(SAF) with current controlled voltage source inverters(CCVSI) are usually used to obtain balanced and sinusoidal source currents by injecting compensation currents.However,CCVSI with traditional controllers have a limited transient and steady state performance.In this paper,we propose an adaptive dynamic programming(ADP) controller with online learning capability to improve transient response and harmonics.The proposed controller works alongside existing proportional integral(PI) controllers to efficiently track the reference currents in the d-q domain.It can generate adaptive control actions to compensate the PI controller.The proposed system was simulated under different nonlinear(three-phase full wave rectifier) load conditions.The performance of the proposed approach was compared with the traditional approach.We have also included the simulation results without connecting the traditional PI control based power inverter for reference comparison.The online learning based ADP controller not only reduced average total harmonic distortion by 18.41%,but also outperformed traditional PI controllers during transients. 展开更多

The full-bridge zero-voltage and zero-current switching inverter, which can adjust the output power by keeping the duty-cycle of lagging arm constant, changing the duty-cycle of leading arm, is a common circuit topology of soft-switching inverter arc welding power supplies. However, the output power still remains a certain value when the duty-cycle of leading arm decreases to zero. The working-mode of soft-switching inverter and the waveforms of major parameters with the condition of duty-cycle of leading arm being zero are studied in this paper. U-1 characteristic experiments prove that the minimum output power of soft-switching circuit, which depends on the charged voltage of capacitors in parallel with leading arm, can be decreased by reducing the duty-cycle of lagging arm. By switching working-modes between half-bridge and full-bridge, the output power can swing from zero to the power rating. 展开更多

The mathematical model of the grid-connected inverter is deduced firstly. Then, the space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM) is analyzed. The power factor can be controlled close to unity, leading or lagging, which is realized based on H-type current controller and grid voltage vector-oriented control. The difference in electricity and power usage time leads to an unbalanced current among the three phases in the power grid.The three-phase unbalanced is closely related to power planning and load distribution.When the unbalance occurs,the safe operation of the electrical equipment will be seriously jeopardized.This paper proposes a Hierarchical Temporal Memory(HTM)-based three-phase unbalance prediction model consisted by the encoder for binary coding,the spatial pooler for frequency pattern learning,the temporal pooler for pattern sequence learning,and the sparse distributed representations classifier for unbalance prediction.Following the feasibility of spatial-temporal streaming data analysis,we adopted this brain-liked neural network to a real-time prediction for power load.We applied the model in five cities(Tangshan,Langfang,Qinhuangdao,Chengde,Zhangjiakou)of north China.We experimented with the proposed model and Long Short-term Memory(LSTM)model and analyzed the predict results and real currents.The results show that the predictions conform to the reality;compared to LSTM,the HTM-based prediction model shows enhanced accuracy and stability.The prediction model could serve for the overload warning and the load planning to provide high-quality power grid operation. 展开更多

This paper develops a flexible power regulation and limitation strategy of voltage source inverters(VSIs)under unbalanced grid faults.When the classical power theory is used under unbalanced grid faults,the power oscillations and current distortions are inevitable.In the proposed strategy,the extended power theory is introduced to compute the power feedbacks together with the classical power theory.Based on the combination of the classical and extended power theory,the proposed strategy can achieve the sinusoidal current provision and the flexible regulation between three common targets,i.e.,constant active power,balanced current,and constant reactive power.Meanwhile,the proposed strategy is associated with a power limiter,which is capable to keep the currents under the pre-defined threshold and to compute the maximum apparent power for better utilization of the inverter capacity.With this power limiter,the rated inverter capacity is fully used for both the active and reactive power provisions under unbalanced grid faults.Using the proposed power regulation and limitation,the VSI can avoid overcurrent tripping and flexibly regulate its power under unbalanced grid faults.All the conclusions are verified by the real-time hardware-in-loop tests. 展开更多

In the power supplies for the master and slave arcs, the digital signal processor (DSP) TMS320F28335 is used to form the DSP- based synergic control system for parallel high-power pulsed GMA W, which achieves high-power output of two parallel inverters controlled by a single DSP ; master-slave communication is achieved by using e controller area network (eCAN)module of DSP, thas realizing anti-phase pulse output of high-power twin-wire pulsed GMA W and reducing the interference between twin arcs. The experiment results demonstrate that the designed inverter power supply system for high-power twin-wire pulsed GMAW can bring about high-power efficiency of welding, stable welding process and proper formation of welds. 展开更多

Controlling the output power of soft switching arc welding inverter by two-stage continuous PWM method

The full bridge zero voltage zero current switching ( FB-ZVZCS ) , which could adjust the output power by keeping the duty ratio of lagging leg constant and changing the duty ratio of leading leg, was a common circuit of soft switching arc welding inverter power source. However, when the duty ratio of leading leg was reduced to zero, the output power stayed the constant value instead of becoming zero. The working status and waveforms of some major parameters were studied in this paper while the duty ratio of leading leg was zero. It was concluded that the minimum output power of soft switching inverter was related to the charging voltage of paraUel capacitors, and the output power also could be reduced by reducing the duty ratio of lagging leg. A novel two-stage continuous PWM control method that could switch working-mode between full bridge and half bridge was put forward in this paper. This kind of control method could further reduce the output power of soft switching inverter in order to meet the requirement of low heat input of sheet metal welding. 展开更多
