BACKGROUND Pain in the liver is a common symptom of liver cancer in late stages, and the pain incidence rate exceeds 50%[1].In serious cancer pain, morphine and other major analgesics have been commonly administrated for clinical treatments, and their effects are accurate, but with a high incidence of side effects, such as nausea, vomiting, constipation, and other conditions.Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese medicine therapy. There have been many randomized controlled trials addressing the safety and usefulness of different methods of acupuncture in alleviating liver cancer pain. However, which of these methods is the most effective method is still unclear.AIM To compare the effectiveness of different acupuncture methods for alleviating pain due to liver cancer.METHODS Eligible studies were retrieved from eight databases(the Cochrane Library,PubMed,EMBASE,Medline,CNKI,CBM,Chongqing VIP,and Wan Fang Database)up to March 31,2021 and screened based on the established inclusion and exclusion criteria. The quality of the include studies was evaluated.Stata software was applied for statistical analyses.Publication bias of the included studies was also determined. Finally, the network meta-analysis was carried out to evaluate the efficacy of acupuncture methods for relief of pain due to liver cancer.RESULTS A total of eight randomized controlled trials were included in the network metaanalysis.Eight trials(covering 5 treatments and 734 patients)provided data suitable for analysis. Most trials focused on short-term effects and many were classed as being of poor quality with a high risk of bias, commonly associated with lack of blinding(which was sometimes impossible to achieve).End of treatment results showed that four interventions, including wrist-ankle acupuncture, triple puncture and remaining needle acupuncture,Tian Yuan acupuncture, and block acupuncture, produced a statistically significant reduction in pain when compared with the three-step analgesic ladder therapy. The surface under the cumulative ranking sorting results showed that triple puncture and remaining needle acupuncture had a relatively high effective rate.CONCLUSION The network meta-analysis results indicate that the overall effectiveness of triple puncture and remaining needle acupuncture is better than the other therapies. 展开更多

Background: The Xingnao Kaiqiao acupuncture method, founded by Academician ShiXuemin, has outstanding efficacy in the treatment of ischemic stroke and has been widelyused at home and abroad. However, after half a century of animal experiments and clinicalstudies, clearly and intuitively revealing its therapeutic mechanism is still a great challengefor researchers. Therefore, this experiment is based on the combination of medicine andengineering to study the immediate effects of the acupuncture method in treating patientsby recording the electroencephalography (EEG) activities of subjects during the acupunctureprocess and to further reveal the therapeutic mechanism at the brain level. Methods: Thistrial is an exploratory, prospective, single-arm interventional study involving a total ofpatients with ischemic stroke. Physicians will record EEG data from patients duringacupuncture as the primary outcome indicator. After pre-processing the EEG data, researchers will use various methods to analyze the immediate effects of acupuncture toobtain brain effectiveness. Deep learning will then be used to identify acupoint stimuli andreceive correspondence between the acupuncture effect and the brain’s internal state.National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale score before and after the acupuncture process willbe used as the secondary outcome indicator. Conclusion: This is the first study protocol toapply dynamic changes in EEG to explore a range of mechanisms of action of acupuncture inthe treatment of ischemic stroke. We propose a method to analyze EEG signals ofacupuncture patients. The deep learning model will be applied for supervised training toobtain the compelling relationship between the acupuncture method and internal brainstates, providing a new prospect for the digitization of traditional Chinese medicine. 展开更多

Joint deformity and dysfunction are common and serious complications in the late stage of rheumatoid arthritis, which seriously affect the quality of life of patients.Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)believes that joint deformity and dysfunction in some patients with rheumatoid arthritis are closely related to the apraxia of meridians and tendons due to enduring illness.Based on the theory of meridians and tendons circulation, using the local and nearby therapeutic effect of acupoints as the treatment method in clinical practice,we conducted penetration needling of Houxi,Baxie,Wailaogong as well as Ashi points of interphalangeal joints of both hands through bilateral Sanjian, and used the uniform reinforcing-reducing method to soothe tendons and meridians, thus effectively improving the dysfunction of deformed joints. 展开更多

The research sumed up the main acupoints of prescription and clinical therapeutic effects of apoplectic sequelae. In the series, 60 in-patients were observed, they were divided into two groups at random, 30 cas es in the Xing Nao Kai Qiao group, 30 cases in the traditional group. There are compara bility on different diseases, courses of the disease, ages and so on between the two groups. On the treatment method, Xing Nao Kai Qiao acupuncture manipulation and acupoints prescription were adopted in the Xing Nao group, and the method descriped in the fifth edition textbook was applied in the traditional group. Acupuncture treatment was given two times a day. After 60 days, evaluation of clinital therapeutic effects were made and the changes of blood rheology, blood liPOids microcirculation and electromyogram in the two groups were observed before and after acupuncture treatment. The re sults of therapeutic effects suggested that the cure rates were 26. 67% in the 6. 67 % in the Xng Nao group and traditional group respectively, obvious improvement rates were 46. 69 % and 20.00% re spectively in the two groups. There was an obvious difference between the two groups according to sta tistical analysis (P<0.05, P <0.01 ). It showed that Xing Nao Kai Qiao acupuncture method could obviously improve blood rheology and blood-lipoids (P <0.05 ), and played an active regulation role in the nail fold microcirculation. After treatment, electromyogram showed that electric potential of motor unit was markedly incrcased, myodynamia became stronger. It indicated that the Xing Nao Kai Qiao acupuncture method was better than the traditional acupuncture method on the treatment of apoplectic sequelae. It is worth popularizing. 展开更多

The individual difference and non-repeatability in acupuncture have not only restricted the devel- opment of acupuncture, but have also affected the specificity of acupoints. The present study used instruments to control needle depth, lifting and thrusting frequency, and the duration of acupuncture. Effects of the quantified acupuncture were observed at Neiguan (PC6) with different stimulation parameters. A frequency of 1, 2, or 3 Hz and duration of 5, 60, or 180 seconds were used to observe cerebral blood flow and ratio of infarct volume recovery. Results showed that stimulation at Neiguan with a frequency of 1 Hz and long duration of 180 seconds or 2/3 Hz and long duration of 5/60 seconds significantly increased cerebral blood flow and decreased the ratio of infarct volume. In- teractions between frequency and duration play a critical role in quantified acupuncture therapy. 展开更多

To investigate whether and how manual acupuncture(MA) modulates brain activities,we design an experiment where acupuncture at acupoint ST36 of the right leg is used to obtain electroencephalograph(EEG) signals in healthy subjects. We adopt the autoregressive(AR) Burg method to estimate the power spectrum of EEG signals and analyze the relative powers in delta(0 Hz-4 Hz),theta(4 Hz-8 Hz),alpha(8 Hz-13 Hz),and beta(13 Hz-30 Hz) bands. Our results show that MA at ST36 can significantly increase the EEG slow wave relative power(delta band) and reduce the fast wave relative powers(alpha and beta bands),while there are no statistical differences in theta band relative power between different acupuncture states. In order to quantify the ratio of slow to fast wave EEG activity,we compute the power ratio index. It is found that the MA can significantly increase the power ratio index, especially in frontal and central lobes. All the results highlight the modulation of brain activities with MA and may provide potential help for the clinical use of acupuncture. The proposed quantitative method of acupuncture signals may be further used to make MA more standardized. 展开更多

The hydrophobicity of the lotus leaf is mainly due to its surface micro-nano composite structure. In order to mimic the lotus structure, ZnO micro-nano composite hydrophobic films were prepared via the three-step method. On thin buffer films of SiO2, which were first fabricated on glass substrates by the so,gel dip-coating method, a ZnO seed layer was deposited via RF magnetron sputtering. Then two different ZnO films, micro-nano and micro-only flowerlike structures, were grown by the hydrothermal method. The prepared films have different hydrophobic properties after surface modification. The structures of the obtained ZnO films were characterized using x-ray diffraction and field-emission scanning electron microscopy. A conclusion that a micro-nano composite structure is more beneficial to hydrophobicity than a micro-only structure was obtained through research into the effect of structure on hydrophobic properties. 展开更多
